December 16, 200916 yr So delighted that RATM is pulling away at the moment.. I do feel bad for the Joe bloke as he's only a kid - and not very nice for him to be caught up in the drama - he is just doing his job and singing what he's told to. It's great that people who think XFactor is pile of $h!te are out there trying to make a point - fingers crossed it works.
December 16, 200916 yr Author It's already been suggested by a lot of people - including me - particularly as it will be the 10th anniversary of Kirsty MacColl's death. Or a campaign for Atomic Kitten with 'Its OK' I honestly don't know why so many people today think RATM have a good chance now. Okay big lead today but as Mike Read said on BBC Breakfast, Joe will win easily with physicals included. I'll eat my shirt if he doesn't. It's everywhere in our Tesco, on displays all over the store and I saw loads of people popping one in their trolley. You might be eating that shirt come Sunday
December 16, 200916 yr Mikey. When do you think or what time are you going to get the the Wednesday Update.
December 16, 200916 yr To me this is just another example of why this campaign is a bloody good one ... regardless of whether the song is liked or not. X-Factor starts off with a huge advantage over other singles as its stocked in every supermarket under the sun. Not only that ... but its usually placed a Point of Sale. I'm sure if Robbie's single, GaGa's single, etc were even sold in supermarkets now ... the gap between X-Factor song and others wouldn't be so strong. X-Factor gets what it deserves. Tough if Joe suffers as a result of it ... it'll be a lesson in life for him (besides ... contrary to what everyone on here thinks ... he really ain't that great a singer.) If this campaign doesn't work this year but lessens the gap between X-Factor and #2 ... then it'll just make next year's campaign even stronger. Norma Completely agree. In fact come time for the Xmas No 1 in 2012 it will very likely be Joe who???

If people think the x factor is rubbish then why did 20million watch it? and probably some people who are supporting the campaign. if they hate the x factor that much they should not watch it. December 16, 200916 yr Mikey. When do you think or what time are you going to get the the Wednesday Update. The MW site has changed again but it's back to the list without any new entries  so we may not get anything today :(
December 16, 200916 yr Author Mikey. When do you think or what time are you going to get the the Wednesday Update. I've literally given up every time I refresh its the same thing, MW was never intending to fix things, the next update will be tomorrow now. Its all gone tits up for today.

December 16, 200916 yr I would fully support the campaign next year if the song was Fairytale Of New York. I find the RATM one almost as bad as The Climb. Edited December 16, 200916 yr by gremley
December 16, 200916 yr Like now Leon Jackson is only known for the bad reasons  What? You mean, for being Scottish?
December 16, 200916 yr Tonight, we should send out someone to tamper with the thing in music shops/supermarkets that allows sales to count for the chart, and make any Joe physicals count for Rage. ;o
December 16, 200916 yr What? You mean, for being Scottish? Thinking about it, did Simon ban Louis from saying "I want everyone from Scotland/Wales/Newcastle etc to pick up the phone and vote for you" - i don't remember Louis saying it this year.
December 16, 200916 yr What? You mean, for being Scottish? For being bad, being dropped before able to release a followup on his album, having a bad album, and most noticably winning a competition on nothing more than nationalism.
December 16, 200916 yr I have nothing against Joe and will not be buying either single but it is a shame that so little effort was put into giving him a good song. It is as though Cowell just assumed here we go another year, more gullible fools to fill my pockets with more cash.Everything about Joe has just been lazy, a truly awful CD cover where he looks fat faced and bloated, a video that is just cut and paste identical to Hallelujah and why is he in Wellington boots-why.Miley only released the bloody song a few mths back and could only get it to No 11.Joe does seem to have a very large family maybe if they all pick up a few thousand copies it may do the trick.
December 16, 200916 yr Author Wednesday Update Top 40 Only 10:26 | Wednesday December 16, 2009 By Ben Cardew The battle for the Christmas number one slot continues to heat up, with Rage Against The Machine’s Killing In The Name extending its lead over Joe McElderry’s The Climb. According to sales figures from the Official Charts Company yesterday, the American band’s 1993 hit had opened up a lead of about 10% over The Climb, the debut single from X Factor winner McElderry, after two days of sales. OCC figures today show that Killing In The Name has now extended that lead to around 60%, selling another 92,000 copies yesterday to bring its total for the week so far to more than 175,000. The Climb has sold around 110,000 copies so far but is expected to receive a massive boost today when the CD single goes on general sale around the country. While the singles market is now overwhelmingly made up of download sales, X Factor Christmas singles traditionally sell strongly on CD. ==================================== Top 40 Only Singles http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/4722242.JPG 1 Rage Against The Machine 2 Joe McElderry 3 Lady GaGa 4 Peter Kay 5 Robbie Williams Top 10 6 Cheryl Cole 7 3OH! feat Katy Perry 9 Journey Top 15 11George Michael Top 20 Alexandra Burke Top 30 Michael Buble 24 Leona Lewis [sCYHO] 28 Miley Cyrus 30 Pet Shop Boys Top 40 Luther Vandross =========================== Albums http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697554542.JPG 1 Susan Boyle 2 Michael Buble 3 Black Eyed Peas 4 JLS 5 Lady GaGa Top 10 6 Robbie Williams Snow Patrol 8 Leona Lewis Top 15 12 Will Young 13 Cheryl Cole 15 Alicia Keys Top 20 Paolo Nutini 20 Alexandra Burke Top 30 Paul McCartney Fleetwood Mac Top 40 Florence & The Machine Lily Allen Katherine Jenkins [believe] NO SALES INFO ================================== Artists Mini-Update Singles Alicia Keys 7+7 Cheryl "National Treasure" Cole FFTL 10+7 Pixie Lott 12+11 Pogues 20+2 JLS [EIL] 20+5 Mariah 20+7 Leona Lewis 30+5 Albums Take That 5+5 Will Young 6+6 Michael Jackson 10+7 Rihanna 20+3 N-Dubz 20+1
