March 14, 201016 yr 36 (from 28) Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind [P] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/AT0350CD.JPG Chart Run: 15-3-2-3-5-8-13-11-12-17-22-11-16-24-21-20-18-20-21-18-22-25-16-17-28-36 [26 wks] Release date: 02-11-2009 Format: CDS Number of Discs: 1 Catalogue Number: AT0350CD Label: warners Considered one of the best lyricists to emerge in the wake of the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac's deaths, Jay-Z has since carried the flag of hip-hop narrative skill. His Roc-A-Fella family had already created a solid reputation based on Jay-Z's 1997 debut. As his fame has grown, so has his tendency to bring more R&B production elements into his work, creating a club-friendly, danceable version of east coast gangsta hip-hop that hasn't diminished his reputation as a preeminent force in rap. Perhaps even more importantly, Jay-Z has become a powerful music impresario. In his role as president/CEO of Def Jam in the early 2000s, he fostered the careers of popular R&B singers Rihanna and Ne-Yo, and enjoyed a high profile as a co-owner of the New Jersey Nets basketball team. His long relationship and eventual marriage to superstar Beyonce has further endeared him to fans - HMV Video here: track listing 1. Empire State Of Mind 2. March 14, 201016 yr Probably the two best songs in the top 40 in a row. Half a year for 'Empire State of Mind' is brilliant. It never gets old however if I'd have heard the Alicia solo version more it'd probably be ruined for me by now.
March 14, 201016 yr At last 'Empire State of Mind' has started to slump. I'm sooooo bored of it now! Me too. I HATE THE SONG NOW!

After dropping out of four different music courses at four different universities, Marina decided to make her own way in music, and began writing her own unique brand of left-field pop songs under her new stage name. Following several low-key releases on indie labels, and a year spent touring and playing BritainÆs expansive festival circuit, Marina recorded her debut album, FAMILY JEWELS, in late 2009. - HMV New single from one of the hottest tips of 2010. March 14, 201016 yr 'Hollywood' was quite good for about a fortnight. I now think it's the weakest of the four singles she's released so far...
