April 17, 201015 yr top 40 if lucky although id love it to go top 10, katie isnt on general a big singles act and usually does well in the album chart, all going well this single will sell the album well if nothing else.
April 17, 201015 yr I take back what I said (first post). This song has really grown on me, so different for her! Serves me right for only listening to the first 20 secs  Defintley her best, I despise all her other songs
April 18, 201015 yr Author the right link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/music/playlist/next-week/ Thanks for that - I don't know why that one wasn't pulled up in my search, though. I'm pleased there is a relatively positive reaction here to her new single - I haven't been over-impressed by some of her recent ones. IIRC this is also her first album since the dumped 'the Womble'? May 11, 201015 yr This song is huge, I'd love to see it at #1 but I guess a top 20 is her highest chance. If you've not heard it yet, please have a listen, this is really surprising and damn good.
May 11, 201015 yr I love the song and the fact she tried to explore other musical styles. She would deserve a top 10. But as the song is released on Friday it will have only two days to chart so I say top 40. And I doubt it will climb the following week. Anyway her album will be a hit, like her previous ones.
May 11, 201015 yr This hasn't had a lot of promo so it won't be massive, but her name alone should carry it to top 40. Would love it to be top 5 as it is one of the best songs she has ever made.

Would love it to be top 5 as it is one of the best songs she has ever made. At least if it does go T40, the Sky channels will *have* to play the video - I don't recall seeing it played even *once* there.
May 11, 201015 yr her best song  and the video is amazing. hopefully top 10 on charts even though I want to hit #1...
May 11, 201015 yr Love this song and id love it to be a suprise hit - However i think it will struglle for a few reasons, I have seen her in concert twice and both times the place was full of 50+ year olds that are not into downloading, Promo/radio play has not been great so far and whilst fab her change in direction of music could alienate some of her fanbase. Deserves Top 5 but will probably just go Top 40.

On a side issue - if/when the Beatles back-catalogue finally gets on-line, do you think it'll introduce a whole load of new, middle-aged people, to downloading?

May 11, 201015 yr Wonderful song which I think will sadly peak somewhere in the region of #27 but deserves to be an easy top 3.
May 13, 201015 yr I love this track after a few more listens, ideally a top 5, but I got a funny feeling its going to struggle to get top 20
May 13, 201015 yr I love this track after a few more listens, ideally a top 5, but I got a funny feeling its going to struggle to get top 20 That's exactly what I'm thinking. Only difference is I thought 'The Flood' was very good on first listen. I admire Katie for trying out new styles and being a bit experimental. I like how this starts slowly gradully building up to the second chorus. Then all of the sudden the track steps up a gear, becomes uptempo and for about 90 seconds is glorious then reverts back to the slow chorus at the end. Imo, a very well written song. Obviously being the Melua, I don't see 'The Flood' doing a "On A Missing/The Way Love Goes" - ie; low top 10 hit without any Radio 1 support.
May 13, 201015 yr Love this, I'd hope top 5, but I think top 75, maybe not quite getting top 40, but hard to call
May 13, 201015 yr On a separate note I found out she revealed when appearing on Terry Wogan's Radio 2 Sunday show that Dramatico Records offered this up as the UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. (Especially as it is co-written by Katie with Guy (Robbie Williams, Mel C, Beverly Knight) Chambers & Lauren (part of The Matrix songwriting team) Christy; produced by William (Madonna, All Saints, Seal & P!nk) Orbit). evXFf9hokRU Katie Melua - "The Flood" - (Live Senkveld TV2) But I guess the BBC would rather go with some nobody with a song co-written & produced by Pete Waterman that sounds like a Steps album reject from 1998; than an artist who is not that credible in the UK; but is well known and popular all over Europe; because our Eurovision entry is the cheesy dated outmoded idea of what most non Eurovision fans think a Eurovision Song Contest entry should sound like: e0vHnZDX1GI Josh Dubovie - That Sounds Good To Me (UK Entry ESC 2010 Live)
May 14, 201015 yr I'm surprised they didn't try and offer it to Georgia as well. Their entry is pretty forgettable this year. BBC should have snapped this up instantly -_-
May 17, 201015 yr A fantastic performance on the Graham Norton show, just now. Let's hope it has a Monday night "Glee effect", and rapidly climbs up iTunes over the next 24 Hours.
May 18, 201015 yr Its an original song that will be remembered wherever it charts, but I hope top ten, but likely not. Edited May 18, 201015 yr by haptic dave
