top 40 if lucky although id love it to go top 10, katie isnt on general a big singles act and usually does well in the album chart, all going well this single will sell the album well if nothing else.

I'm pleased there is a relatively positive reaction here to her new single - I haven't been over-impressed by some of her recent ones.

This song is huge, I'd love to see it at #1 but I guess a top 20 is her highest chance.

If you've not heard it yet, please have a listen, this is really surprising and damn good.

I love the song and the fact she tried to explore other musical styles. She would deserve a top 10.

But as the song is released on Friday it will have only two days to chart so I say top 40.

And I doubt it will climb the following week.

Anyway her album will be a hit, like her previous ones.

At least if it does go T40, the Sky channels will *have* to play the video - I don't recall seeing it played even *once* there. :cry:

Love this song and id love it to be a suprise hit - However i think it will struglle for a few reasons, I have seen her in concert twice and both times the place was full of 50+ year olds that are not into downloading, Promo/radio play has not been great so far and whilst fab her change in direction of music could alienate some of her fanbase. Deserves Top 5 but will probably just go Top 40.

I think it will certainly help the cause and could finally introduce that age bracket into regular downloading.

Wonderful song which I think will sadly peak somewhere in the region of #27 but deserves to be an easy top 3.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Only difference is I thought 'The Flood' was very good on first listen. I admire Katie for trying out new styles and being a bit experimental. I like how this starts slowly gradully building up to the second chorus. Then all of the sudden the track steps up a gear, becomes uptempo and for about 90 seconds is glorious then reverts back to the slow chorus at the end. Imo, a very well written song. Obviously being the Melua, I don't see 'The Flood' doing a "On A Missing/The Way Love Goes" - ie; low top 10 hit without any Radio 1 support.

On a separate note I found out she revealed when appearing on Terry Wogan's Radio 2 Sunday show that Dramatico Records offered this up as the UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. (Especially as it is co-written by Katie with Guy (Robbie Williams, Mel C, Beverly Knight) Chambers & Lauren (part of The Matrix songwriting team) Christy; produced by William (Madonna, All Saints, Seal & P!nk) Orbit).

But I guess the BBC would rather go with some nobody with a song co-written & produced by Pete Waterman that sounds like a Steps album reject from 1998; than an artist who is not that credible in the UK; but is well known and popular all over Europe; because our Eurovision entry is the cheesy dated outmoded idea of what most non Eurovision fans think a Eurovision Song Contest entry should sound like:

Let's hope it has a Monday night "Glee effect", and rapidly climbs up iTunes over the next 24 Hours.

Its an original song that will be remembered wherever it charts, but I hope top ten, but likely not.
