Happy birthday to this brilliant album! Definitely one of my favourites from her. The singles + Closer + many of the album tracks are great and it's such a good listen from start to end. In my top 3 albums from her!

Stunning artwork through the entire Aphrodite campaign.

Kylie looked amazing on all.

I still remember buying this album on the day it was released and giving it the first play like it was yesterday!

It remains one of my go-tos to really capture that summer feeling.

Exact same for me! I seem to recall my copy arriving a day early too. I was in love with from first listen and it's a summer essential for me too!

I specifically remember the title track knocking me for six on the first listen, and feeling *.* at the "I'm gonna feel your heart stop in my hands" lyric.
I loved aphrodite from first listen, i was really really excited for the album from hearing all the lovers and adoring it and while i knew nothing would top all the lovers i had a feeling it would be a good album based on it and i wasn't disappointed. Very feel good album and a brilliant summer album.

Gave this a listen as well after I enjoyed Light Years, and I absolutely adored it and even preferred it to Light Years?? there wasn’t one song I don’t see myself using in the future and it’s not often with a pop album I get that (well 80% of the albums I listen to are pop tbf) I only knew All The Lovers and Get Outta My Way, otherwise my faves were Put Your Hands Up, Closer, Illusion, Better Than Today, Cupid Boy and Can’t Beat The Feeling. Are those common opinions?
Ya I think those songs are popular choices, I love aphrodite myself, I prefer Light years but aphrodite is a great album and very cohesive, aphrodite should have had more big hits but sadly didnt happen but thankfully all the lovers was huge and got the album off to a great start.
My 'Aphrodite' rank:

01. All The Lovers
02. Get Outta My Way
03. Aphrodite
04. Cupid Boy
05. Closer
06. Can't Beat The Feeling
07. Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)
08. Everything Is Beautiful
09. Too Much
10. Illusion
11. Looking For An Angel
12. Better Than Today

Aphrodite is still one of my favourite Kylie albums. I love the artwork too. It’s a very consistent album in terms of production. I think they released the wrong singles after All the lovers though!

Lost Hit: Kylie Minogue’s “Closer” Should Have Been A Single

A decade later and I’m still mad that “Better Than Today” was released as the third single from Kylie Minogue’s Aphrodite. That song destroyed the album’s momentum, effectively cutting short what could and should have been a majestic era. There were so many other options. I’ve already written about my love for “Heartstrings” (it didn’t even make the standard tracklist), while “Cupid Boy” and “Can’t Beat The Feeling” would have also worked rather nicely. My pick, however, is the dark and mysterious “Closer.”

“We’ll redesign where we combine to be divine, love in us,” Kylie sings over Stuart Price’s otherworldly synths. “Give me the sign, in these confines we start to shine.” That takes us to the chorus. “Closer and closer and closer,” Kylie coos dramatically. “To you now, never enough.” Every time I play the song I can’t help but think about what could have been. “Closer” lends itself to a truly epic visual, while an extended remix of this banger would have conquered clubs around the globe.

Aphrodite is still one of my favourite Kylie albums. I love the artwork too. It’s a very consistent album in terms of production. I think they released the wrong singles after All the lovers though!

I agree on all your points and I know better than today did little to help the album but I've always felt get outta my way killed the campaign as it was seen as a huge underperforming single at the time.

The album as a package is brilliant, but, All The Lovers was in a league far greater than everything else offered.
Here's a re-post of my review for this magnificent album:

All The Lovers
Opening track and of course the lead single starts with a statement that not only sets the tone, but the theme that runs throughout this album. Monumental & atmospheric anthem that's complete with lush electronic instrumentations and fantastic soaring vocals where she fully embraces her Disco diva status. This is perhaps one of Kylie's finest ever recordings with its subtle and beautiful production, the euphoric middle-eight and swirling synths that creates an uplifting pop masterpiece. A true return to form and an excellent comeback. Of course lets not forget about that stunning music video which fits the message of the song perfectly and again ranks as one of her best.

Get Outta My Way
Heading into a full-on harder edged club/dance tune that builds and builds throughout, and eventually a powerful chorus with strong confident vocals by Kylie herself who just commands every verse. With a refined and polished production with a great heartbeat rhythm and pulsating beats, of course this makes for a perfect follow up single and contrasts really well with the lead. Its a shame this didn't receive the success it deserved, but will always be a firm fan favourite and not hard to see why, it simply pops.

Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)
Another pleasing dance-floor filler that explodes with euphoria into the addictive chorus and catchy verses, complete with electro guitars that pulls you deep into the club vibe of the song. The production by Starsmith & Stuart Price is top notch.

Closer
Continuing the club vibe but with a more darker & haunting tone, along with a claustrophobic bassline with the sound of harpsichord and violins that opens this track and then we get some bold but sensual vocals with some spacey synths throughout. Not as thumping as some of the previous tracks, but still a great number that slowly builds to a throbbing rhythm.

Everything Is Beautiful
Slower paced and probably the closest we get to ballad on this album. However this is a lovely song, quite cool, breezy and perfect for chilling out after all the dance anthems. With its warm layered slices of pianos and electronica and Kylie's vocals climbs over the melody beautifully.

Aphrodite
The title track now and its a drum-tastic symphony that explodes with a militant, foot-stomping beat and a searing bolt of fiery energy that showcases Kylie at her most commanding with a chorus that has such a great feel-good factor about it and is awash with keyboards and synth drums. Definitely one of the strongest and best tracks on here and why wasn't this a single, if this followed the first 2 singles with the killer promo 'BTT' had, then this could have smashed and ranked as yet another Kylie classic.

Illusion
A nice dreamy pop number with a relentless throbbing bass and some heavy coos that oozes the usual Kylie charm and class. A nice little track, although I wouldn't rank it as one of my faves from this album or even as one of the stronger tracks on this album. Its decent enough and plods along quite nicely.

Better Than Today
Changing the pace again a little with some layered extensive drum programming and keyboards over this more straight forward pop/dance number with a sugary chorus that bounces along quite nicely. Still to this day a very odd single choice that doesn't quite enough of a punch for that status, and in my opinion should have stayed as a rather good album track.

Too Much
Turning things up to an almighty 11 now with this fast paced dance/club number that bristles with life and vibrancy. Produced by Calvin Harris before he became the mega star he is today and it shows with its next level sound that still stays true to Kylie's sound.

Cupid Boy
Opening with a low-key guitar, then bursts into an awesome rock-synth dance spectacular. It’s darker in style to the rest of the album, but features hauntingly high vocals from Kylie and brilliant synth snares throughout. Its another song with a strong angelic chorus and some cool swirls and throbbing basslines. Another standout moment that could have easily been a single.

Looking For An Angel
Some more chilled out dance now and starting off with some nice strings and some gorgeous and simple production along with some personal lyrics that makes for a nice and simple little number.

Can't Beat The Feeling
Closing the album with this rather energetic number that pumps up the pulse beats and some cool synths yet again for one final push into electro-pop bliss. A great way to close this wonderful album, ending on an almighty BANG.
Aphrodite and Disco are similar with consistent sounds and themes from start to finish on both albums.

7. Can't Beat the Feeling

8. Closer

9. Too Much

10. Better than Today

12. Everything Is Beautiful

The two tracks that open this album are firmly in my absolute favourites from Kylie! 'Get Outta My Way' would have been at #1 a few years back, but hearing 'All The Lovers' live at Brighton Pride transcended it to dizzying heights and so I can't not have it at the top now. Both tracks are examples of Kylie at her best. Elsewhere 'Everybody Put Your Hands Up' is a great, fell-good track that reflects the euphoric nature of the album, as is 'Everything is Beautiful' though not quite as glorious! 'Closer' is an interesting track that certainly stands out on the album! The title track is a stomper and could've opened the album. Definitely seems like a tour opener too :music: 'Better than Today' being a single is an odd one; it is certainly a safe choice but there are definitely better options available - 'Illusion' being one! Is this favoured by the fans, it's absolutely sublime  'Too Much' i am mixed on because the vibe of it is great but the tinny production can be grating. 'Looking For An Angel' is so adorable and catchy, a definite highlight. 'Can't Beat The Feeling' is also a great closer to the original album. It's all so uplifting and joyous as an album <3

I actually like all tracks to some extent? Even my bottom 2 have redeeming features and work on the album / I wouldn't want them removed from it!
