Yay for Taio & Ke$ha and Owl City

A fantastic playlist this week. Great additions to the C-list (apart from Bieber) :puke2:. But anyway OMG! at Rihanna, Jason and Alicia. :w00t: So glad Te Amo is the next single. It's such a grower. To be honest I didn't like it that much and I didn't get the buzz around it but now it's my favourite track off Rated R (after Rude Boy).

So glad Owl City, Drake and Gorillaz have moved to the B-List. and Edward Maya moving up to A-List. :w00t: Mark my words that song is gonna be a huge summer hit. B)

Still shocked Alexandra and Christina haven't been playlisted. Maybe when the videos for their songs come out they will playlist it.

In the coming weeks, I love to see Ke$ha's Your Love Is My Drug and Gaga's Alejandro being added. :)

I'm actually surprsied Radio 1 aren't backing Lights 'Saviour'. It's basically the female version of 'Fireflies'. (But better and more memorable imo)

Amazing to see Alicia playlisted  Hopefully TSWABH becomes the huge hit it well and truly deserves to be -_-

They did the same thing with 'Ice'. :(

I'm not surprised. "Fireflies" was already a US #1 hit and that alone was reason enough for them to back up Owl City. Unfortunately Lights hasn't been sucessful anywhere yet :(
I think just accept the fact that they will not playlist All Night Long.If the song was dependent on them fair enough but so far it has gone Top 40 with no video, no radio 1 support so its time to move on.

Looking at the duds they have ejected from the playlist this week, tells us all we need to know about how many poor songs that do not become hits they shove on the list.

Kate has been shoved off already All Night Long will do better than that.

Futureheads

Lostprophets

Kate Nash

Kid Sister

MGMT

Joshua Radin

Fenech Soler

but it all about getting the right balance of genres and types of music with radio1 because it is a national radio station. they may or may not play burkes new single but why not play the the new futureheads, fenech soler (great tune),mgmt, kate nash and lost prophets - they are a hell of alot more unique and groundbreaking than another cheesy pop/rnb track(which has been done before so many times) by a girl who has plenty of upfront promo on commercial radio.better to play new bands and artists than one which is guaranteed her sucess because of xfactor.least then people get to hear a bit more different styles of music!! and i know they do have their fair share of cheesy pop with bieber et al but thats the choices they make.

btw they will probably still clist all night long next week - 4 weeks to release!

I'm surprised too but definitely disagreed with the second part of that statement. I found Fireflies ridiculously instant (and far far better), Saviour took a lot longer to stick. Ice on the other hand I like about as much as Fireflies

No Katie Melua :(

With the song being an amazing piece of music, I really thought Radio 1 would give it a try.

Ok so Faithless:

Mass Destruction was A-listed

I Want More was B-listed

Insomnia 2005 was ignored, but not sure it was actually a single

Why Go was ignored

Bombs was B-listed

Music Matters was ignored

So, a bit hit and miss. Dance did have a bigger share on the A-list back in 2004, so i'm surprised to see them A-listed again, although they had none on the A-list last week so the competition is weak atm.

Oooh excellent. Thanks a lot for that. Maybe I should give their new single another listen then. Granted I've never been a massive fan of theirs but I can't think if many of their songs which I like less...

I do agree with you in part it is important for new acts across the genres to get equality and fairness when it come to oppurtunities to be playlisted.I think Jonzi and Kid Sister are great. They do though have limited appeal amougst the target audience for Radio 1, 16-25 year olds.It is all very well if the producers and DJ's like that type of alternative/indie but the fact that many of these acts do not trouble the higher end of itunes means that the kids are not buying into them.It is a matter of opinion and subjective as to whether they are unique.I am in fact more troubled by the likes of Lemar and Estelle being overlooked, it seems that Grime music is being pushed at the expense of better artists. My concern with Alex is that she is popular amougst their target audience and fair enough they still might but it it highly unlikely they will playlist her.

Am I the only one utterly convinced Pendulum are going to #1 in a couple of weeks? Watercolour

Also good to see Biffy moving up even if it's bound to flop.

your right but acts like lemar seem to have been taken on by radio 2 so they get a fair bit of exposure (even tho they have a more youthful fanbase!! ).

I can't see Pendulum making #1 despite how much I want it to - if it does, that'll be amazing, but realistically it'll go to about #3 at best :(

Bubbles should still make top 40, which is fairly well for a 5th single from a rockish type band (only the 2nd released after the album though).

Bubbles is top 75 on iTunes 2 weeks before release, so the physical should guarantee it at least top 40, could go top 30 IMO.

Does Pendulum's new single actually deserve #1, really? It's such a weak, limp, recycled and watered down version of what they were doing before.

Oh and I adored both of their previous albums.

The first time I heard it I thought it was just a weak rewrite of "Propane Nightmares". But it's really grown on me since, unlike that track which just hits you with its greatness straight away.

i think i tend to agree - i want to like it cos the last album was lethal but it just hasnt hit me yet - but im starting to recognise the start of it anytime it comes on radio 1 now which is a sign its growing on me!! :)

Yess.

It's not even that good a track (Watercolor) but they've just amassed so much popularity recently I could see it going like #1. They sort of remind me of a bit like Paramore. They don't really have massive chart success, but people under estimatre their popularity far too much.

pendulum singles chart history -

34 Pendulum Slam / Out Here Oct 2005

29 Pendulum Granite Dec 2007

9 Pendulum Propane Nightmares May 2008
