June 24, 201015 yr I expect 120 minutes of a boring (& perhaps goalles) game and then penalties (as usual)... -_- Edited June 24, 201015 yr by boys allowed
June 24, 201015 yr I predict that Germany will win. 2-0. Even if England win they won't beat Argentina in the QF and doubt Germany would either. I'm still saying an Argentina- Brazil final which would be fantastic.
June 24, 201015 yr As much as I would like to see a repeat of the 5-1 thriller that England achieved in 2001, I think it'll probably be a 1-1 draw (Rooney to score for England) and then out on penalties. Should be a good game though, we always seem to perform better against tougher competition, and we are playing on the Sunday which is good as I'm working on Saturday night [/selfish] :P
June 24, 201015 yr I'm not understanding what people are seeing in Argentina. They've beaten 3 average teams and have an awful defence.
June 24, 201015 yr I'm not understanding what people are seeing in Argentina. They've beaten 3 average teams and have an awful defence. The Maradona factor is making a lot of people 'like' them. I agree they'll most likely be found out because of their defence.
June 24, 201015 yr I'm expecting a GREAT game here, England v Germany always is! But unfortunatley I'm a pessimist, and can't see anything other than defeat :( I'll happily be proven wrong though.
June 24, 201015 yr The Maradona factor is making a lot of people 'like' them. I agree they'll most likely be found out because of their defence. Even Greece managed to nullify Messi for 80 minutes, so a better team can...
June 24, 201015 yr we always seem to perform better against tougher competition I'd say the same applies to the german team as well. :D
June 25, 201015 yr It looks like the English team might as well pack their cases and get on the plane home now ...... English octopus oracle predicts German win 1 hour 23 mins ago Yahoo.co.uk AFP 9X2NAz0F4hY Disastrous news for England fans ahead of the crunch last-16 match with Germany Sunday: an octopus in Germany with a perfect track record of predicting World Cup matches has plumped for a German win. Two plastic boxes containing tasty morsels, one with a German flag and one with an England flag, were lowered into the tank that houses Paul the octopus at his home in Sea Life in Oberhausen, western Germany. Paul immediately climbed into the German box to a huge roar of approval from the crowd. Earlier in the tournament, the mollusc medium correctly predicted Germany would beat Ghana and Australia in their group D matches and was also right to predict they would lose to Serbia. And the eight-legged oracle is also coming off a run of good form at major championships. He had an 80-percent record for Germany games at the European Championships. England fans have reason to feel somewhat betrayed by his latest prediction. Paul should by rights be an England supporter, having been born at Sea Life in Weymouth, on the south English coast. ------------------------------------- Gutted. :P

No. He'll be in an octopus's garden :P
June 25, 201015 yr I'll be on the train to London during this  I am however, backing Germany for the win. I can't really see England winning, they are far too cocky. They could use the collective ego's of the england team to plug the leak in the Gulf of Mexico.
June 25, 201015 yr No. He'll be in an octopus's garden :P Aha I saw that on Channel 5! But seriously :o , they mentioned something about watching football in Hyde Park then Paul McCartney performing after the match or something? I was wondering if you need tickets for it as me and my mates may go down (Y)
June 26, 201015 yr Does anyone think Mesut Orzil looks like Paul mcCartney? It's the eyes! Hmm, not sure if it's the eyes... http://i49.tinypic.com/5udzbp.jpg (more the same smile I think)... http://i46.tinypic.com/20k9myb.jpg but based on these pics they look like relatives. Edited June 26, 201015 yr by boys allowed
June 26, 201014 yr 5-1 to England tomorrow :cheer: no chance. :snif: Funnily enough the DVD of that game in Munich was being displayed fairly prominently in my local HMV today
June 26, 201014 yr Man for man England win hands down. There's only a few German players who might make the England squad. England have more experience and are more familiar with playing in the 'big games'. They are also traditional hard to score against in the finals. England's current players also have a better track record for penalties cpmpared to the current German team. However, Germany have great mental strength great no frills team spirit and a history of coming good when it counts. I expect this to be a great game with both teams rising to the occasion. No reason to believe penalties will be involved. England should edge it if both teams play to their best abilities. Next round Rooney scores his first World Cup Finals goal by punching the ball past the Argentine keeper for a 1-0 win :w00t:
June 26, 201014 yr I don't know why some English are so confident about today's game (I don't mean the papers only...). 1. England were really weak although they had an easy group... 2. Maybe they shot the most goals in the qualification, but tbh (apart from Croatia) who the f... were Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Andorra...?!! Not the best teams on earth I'd say! 3. Before the tournament they hardly won the games against big teams like Spain, Brazil or Holland (in friendlies)... The only point pro England is that they won 2-1 in Berlin last year... (but that wasn't in a tournament and only that is what counts when it comes to Germany)! Edited June 26, 201014 yr by boys allowed
