No need to preach to the converted, I completely agree with you. But even though the silent majority don't say anything (obviously, they never do :lol:), the fact that they're not nominating or having any part in it plus the fact that 3 out of the 4 mods don't agree with it speaks volumes. If it ceased to exist and suddenly people could (and they would) send stuff like California Gurls again, I'd almost certainly leave the contest due to utter pointlessness and the winner being pre-determined every month again, but that's besides the point :heehee: To have the measure here just to please 5 or 6 posters out of 50, when the other 45 participants were obviously happy enough without it, does set alarm bells ringing :lol:

He's never nominated in it has he? :lol: I didn't realise it's because he thought it didn't go far enough. I reckon that if the mods initial proposals of banning almost everything under the sun, as well as the option to ban songs and disqualify participants mid-contest should their song end up on the Radio 1 playlist and it being their call to ban anything they personally feel is cheap, had actually gone through, I'm sure there would be ten times more complaints than what the optional banlist gets, particularly when Hendinia would have been thrown out of the contest when Roll Deep unexpectedly arrived on the playlist three months back :drama:

 

I wouldn't worry about it, I'm only thinking out loud, I'm just surprised that such a seemingly unpopular (to the majority) addition to the contest is still standing. The system's worked really well in my opinion, no song has been banned out of spite/not liking somebody like it was feared, only the absolute cream of the cheap has ever been banlisted looking back.

He's never nominated in it has he? :lol: I didn't realise it's because he thought it didn't go far enough. I reckon that if the mods initial proposals of banning almost everything under the sun, as well as the option to ban songs and disqualify participants mid-contest should their song end up on the Radio 1 playlist and it being their call to ban anything they personally feel is cheap, had actually gone through, I'm sure there would be ten times more complaints than what the optional banlist gets, particularly when Hendinia would have been thrown out of the contest when Roll Deep unexpectedly arrived on the playlist three months back :drama:

 

I wouldn't worry about it, I'm only thinking out loud, I'm just surprised that such a seemingly unpopular (to the majority) addition to the contest is still standing. The system's worked really well in my opinion, no song has been banned out of spite/not liking somebody like it was feared, only the absolute cream of the cheap has ever been banlisted looking back.

 

I've never agreed with the banlist. I've never voted and probably won't ever vote as I, as Tyron puts it, have a 'fetish' for people being able to send what they want.

Once. I only nominate if there's something that screams to be banned otherwise i never know what to nominate.

 

I was keen for the AF extension to sail through, it seemed to go through fine until the backlash over the mid contest DNQ thing started and it all got thrown out.
