July 21, 201014 yr Do they still do the prize where they charge the artist £20 ? I remember 'Girls' won that a couple of years back.
July 21, 201014 yr 'Fight For This Love' is a 2008 song, which would have been short listed last July, surely... I swear it was...
July 21, 201014 yr I personally would have nominated 'Happy' by Leona Lewis. Probably the best lyrical concept of a song released in the past few years. But then we know popjustice don't take into account the lyrics, do they? <_< omg i just want to be happy. DEEP STUFF. Sophie deserves to win this, or at least go top three. Has anyone else applied to be on the judging panel?

July 21, 201014 yr Mini Viva aren't even any good, they shouldn't even have one nomination :( I wouldn't mind any of the following winning: "Once" by Diana Vickers "Wonderful Life" by Hurts "Bad Boys" by Alexandra Burke "Bittersweet" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor "Kickstarts" by Example "Never Leave You" by Tinchy feat Amelle "I Am Not A Robot" by Marina & The Diamonds That is also my order of preference. I am a really big Marina fan, but IANAR certainly isn't my favourite from her album
July 21, 201014 yr OMG! I feel so stupid now haha. OF COURSE IT WAS ! Time's gone so slow! :o LOL.
July 21, 201014 yr Fight for this Love was badly produced in my opinion, compared to the space and brightness of GA singles it sounded about 8 years out of date. Starry Eyed is missing form that terrible list.
July 21, 201014 yr Hurts are crap y'alls. Aaron, what Leona song exactly do you feel should've qualified? Neither single is anywhere near the quality of most of that list... If they'd had the sense to release 'Outta My Head' I'd have gladly seen it nominated, shame that never saw the light of day as a single. I think it's one of the best pop songs of modern times. I'm no Leona loon either.

Starry Eyed is missing form that terrible list.Really? :o FFTL still sounds fresh to me. I think I love it more than I ever have done. It's not got old at all for me. (Unlike her album - which, bar FFTL, 'Heaven' & 'Stand Up' has gotten really old.)
July 21, 201014 yr The echo on "curse" and "backwards" always sounded unnecessary. The keyboards need to be much more punchy. All sounds like Mel C from the turn of the century.
July 21, 201014 yr omg i just want to be happy. DEEP STUFF. The concept, when put into perspective, is actually one of the best I have heard in a pop song in recent memory. Quoting that line on it's own shows the extent of your argument tbh. :P Anyway, besides the lyrics, the emotional conveyence is what makes the song. But as I've said, Popjustice wouldn't take all of this into account. -_- It would be more "Oh Em Geeeee this song is like totally dancey and those quirky lyrics referencing that place in errr Japan are pure genius and let's not forget it was made by pop Gods Xenomania".
July 21, 201014 yr Sophie deserves to win this, or at least go top three. Has anyone else applied to be on the judging panel? Agreed, and yes, I have. :o

July 21, 201014 yr Remedy's non-inclusion is baffling... Yeah, iirc it was higher than Bad Boys on their end of 09 list? How dare they miss out Gaga :( :(

Your latter point shows how much you know of Popjustice... It's not a BAD concept, but it's hardly an original/groundbreaking one. That line is literally the concept!
