ohh i never new 'hard' already charted at 42 :o

Yeah, it was getting promoted at the same time as Rude Boy initially (i.e. getting radio airplay). It got quite high on iTunes, so it almost made the top 40.

It didn't get promoted as a single here (until now) the record label just sent the video to TV Channels (much in the vein of Rockstar101 now) it didn't get sent to radio, any radio play would be due to the video being out.

Well, I heard it loads of times on the radio, although you could be right that it was getting radio play due to it getting video play. I don't watch music TV much so I can't comment on it. Whenever I heard it on the radio, it was introduced as "Rihanna's new song" or something of that vein. I remember them getting radio airplay of roughly equal frequencies at a similar time on my local radio stations (hence why they were climbing iTunes initially at the same time I guess).

I think this is why people aren't expecting the song to do too well this time, because the song just seems old, as most people will have heard it for the first time about 6 months ago.

In terms of Ne-Yo & Flo-Rida as the top 2 :puke2: , Ne-Yo is definitely the lesser of the two evils there!
I really want The Hoosiers to get into the top 10, Katy has had her time

Are the Courtney Cox-Arquette pictures in your signature of when she played Gail Weathers in Scream? :o I loved her in that movie. Scream is my favourite horror film/series of all time. :o

Can't wait to see Scream 4.

Sorry for going off-topic.

Yup , Scream 2 ;) That is David Arquette's hand on her fine breasts :heehee: Me neither :cheer: Gonna be great.

Sorry too :(

The few sales it picked up in January would not stop it being a hit if it was going to be one, I think the main thing affecting it is there have been many singles from this album now and the last one missed the top 10.

Where's Chicane with Middledistancerunner? It's most probably following the "succes" of "Comeback" :(

400. Middledistancerunner (feat. Adam Young) - Chicane

615. Middledistancerunner (Disco Citizens Rework Mix) [feat. Adam Young] - Chicane

933. Middledistancerunner (Radio Edit) [feat. Adam Young] - Chicane

Well, it's sort of like a really good song from the 80's, which none of the teenagers buy, because they've been hearing it constantly since they were born, so they're just fed up of it now. It's sort of like that, but a lot less extreme. Even though not many people bought Hard earlier, I think people may have had enough of it, after hearing it on the radio, on TV, etc. I can't see it getting into the top 10 (even though I think it's the best song from the album), and I think it would sell a lot more (more than the sales it got to get it to #42) if this was the first time the general public were hearing the song.

If people get "too fed up of a song to buy it", songs from months or years ago wouldn't still be charting. I think that's a myth, it's simply because she's released so many singles from this album now and they're starting to not do so well.

Well, if a popular song from 1999 was re-released, I don't think all the younger people would buy it, even though they never bought the song, just because they've heard it a lot already. I wouldn't see the song charting top 10, even if it is really good. I know Hard wasn't technically released, but I think for a similar reason, it won't do so well. But obviously other reasons, such as the ones you've stated, would also contribute to Hard's chart peak and overall sales.

I think it'll go only top 20, personally.
