Posted August 16, 201015 yr The Final (Chart) Frontier for Iron Maiden 11:16 | Tuesday August 17, 2010 Source: MW By Ben Cardew Iron Maiden have taken a powerful lead in the race to top the albums chart this Sunday, with their new album The Final Frontier (EMI) selling more than three times as many as its nearest competitor, Eminem’s Recovery (Interscope), so far this week. Singles On the singles chart, Eminem, Roll Deep and Flo-Rida look set for a three-way challenge for number one. Eminem featuring Rihanna’s Love The Way You Lie (Polydor), this week’s number two, presently leads the way over Roll Deep’s Green Light (Relentless / Virgin) and current number one, Flo-Rida featuring David Guetta’s Club Can’t Handle Me (Atlantic), but less than 600 units separate them. Meanwhile, Chase and Status look set to score a top 10 hit with their new single Let You Go (Vertigo). Albums The Final Frontier, the band’s 15th studio album, has sold more than 22,000 copies, while Recovery has sold around 7,000 this week in the UK, according to Official Charts Company midweek figures. The second highest new entry to the albums chart this Sunday is likely to come from the Saturdays, whose Headlines (Fascination / Geffen) has sold more than 6,000 copies so far this week and is set to debut within the top five. August 17, 201015 yr It's not a battle at all, Roll Deep will walk it... Chase & Status might be at about 5 or 6 in today's update, and then they'll fall to 10-12 by Sunday I'd guess. They might be lower in today's update though. August 17, 201015 yr OMG :o Eminem/Rihanna at #1 :dancing: if only they would stay there all week :( How did they manage to get #1 today? :unsure: considering the two songs below it were above it on iTunes :S or maybe other download sites made the difference. I just wish Roll Deep and Flo Rida's pop bars would cut in half :P
August 17, 201015 yr How is Eminem #1 ahead of Flo & Guetta? I guess he must be ahead on the other download sites. He won't hold it, Roll Deep will probably overtake tomorrow. C&S only #9 in the first update then :( Looks like it'll miss top 10 then. Then again I never expected it to go top 10 to be honest :lol: Not surprised to see Maiden #1 album, and Eminem just at #2 again... is there anything big out next week or could Eminem reclaim it AGAIN? EDIT: Klaxons are out but I don't think STV can get #1 after Echoes' shoddy performance but you never know. One Night Only are also out. August 17, 201015 yr Author We only have top 39 in the albums and singles, and #40 is definitely a new entry in the album chart, the database has gone pear shaped.
August 17, 201015 yr LTWYL will equal this week and beat next week the 2010 record for weeks in the top 10. OMG also has 9 weeks and LTWYL is heading into its 9th. She Said, Rude Boy and Empire State Of Mind (Part II) Broken Down all have 8, and 8 of Starstrukk's 10 were in 2010. A couple more have 7 - Pass Out, California Gurls, Fireflies, Airplanes (heading into its 8th this week), and then We No Speak Americano is heading into its 7th this week. Apart from those 10 songs (11 after this week), every top 10 singles this year has spent 6 or fewer weeks there.
