OMG I've only just realised she says Heavy Metal Lover in the chorus! I don't even know what I've been singing it at up til now but it definitely wasn't that..

and I swear the guy talks about liquorice all sorts at one point

I thought she said Heavy Metal GaGa for the first several times i heard the song.

I would not say she has won yet but she has a great lead :D
Parts of Marry The Night really remind me of an old skool dance track from years ago but I can't think what?
Still cannot get hooked to Black Jesus † Amen Fashion, Fashion of His Love and The Queen...
I agree. She has played this new album to be much more adventurous citing the above as influences so I was expecting the unexpected. I got pop music.

Those two conditions aren't mutually exclusive you know.

Born This Way is Eye Contact's older, inferior cousin. The latter has a far wider palette but the former has far more oomph in places. I have no idea why I'm comparing Lady GaGa and Gang Gang Dance though.

These are the tracks I feel I know well enough now to rate:

07 Born This Way - Nothing wrong with this at all! It's very nice, that's where it ends but STILL. I must admit that I was a little worried when I first heard it though, I was expecting something more like Scheiße to be the lead, such a relief that there are tracks like that on here.

04 Government Hooker - I probably should enjoy this more than I do.

02 Judas - Judddaaarrrrsss Gaaagggaaaa. Umm, no thanks.

05 Americano - Nice.

09 Hair - BRILLIANT. Ignoring that it's from 2011, it's another of those songs that makes me feel as if I was born a few decades too late.

08 Scheiße - The first 10 seconds of deep synths could really be from an Enter Shikari song. I wouldn'tve thought that'd be a good thing, but it turns out it is.

04 Bad Kids - The song that comes closest to being filler. It's not at all though!

03 Heavy Metal Lover - The chorus is underwhelming and the verses are sorta grating. Forgive me and allow me to repent / let it grow until I love it.

03 You And I - Sounds like something from a soundtrack. It's a massive improvement of Speechless to me, not that that's saying much at ALL.

10 The Edge Of Glory - OMG. I'm a sucker for cheese when it actually sounds epic, which isn't a word I use much. The arpeggiated [i may have just made a verb up there] synths GOSH.

Bare in mind that I started listening to this expecting a magnum opus, going by the reviews, and that my ratings aren't so inflated that an 8 is only a 'good' song, I may seem to be being rather harsh.

I seriously hope the critics give this album really good reviews because so far it's been receiving really good reviews. Might be a contender for the Album of the Year at the Grammys if the reviews are exceptionally good.

Critics love it according to an article on Digital spy.

But as much as i love GaGa, 21 is most deserved for Album of the year.

As if Grammys are based on quality. Anw, she will definitely be nominated.

Well it only received 2*s in a supplement from The Times today...

I'd imagine it'll mostly receive positive reviews though.

The Time also gave The Fame/Fame Monster 2 stars.

It has 74 on Metacritic. By contrast Love? has 46, Femme Fatale has 66, LOUD has 67, Pink Friday 71, Cannibal 73 (surprisingly).

The Fame scored 71 (way OTT in my humble opinion) and The Fame Monster 77.

Could someone PM me the link to the album please? I've finally decided I'm going to listen to it :)

I forgot about Adele's 21 which might give Gaga a run. The Grammys last year did picked the Album of the Year due to quality though since Arcade Fire's album was highly praised. Last year if Arcade Fire wasn't there she would've won for The Fame Monster based on the reviews of critics as the other 3 albums nominated were lk.... average reviews.

Now that I just looked up 21, my goodness that album is close to Gaga's reviews :S This Born This Way album better get more than 74 Metacritic score

EDIT: Oh my just looked up the Wikipedia and it says based on 7 reviews the average at the moment for Metacritic for Born This Way is 74/100 :( even though the other reviews are giving it really good reviews.. Hopefully this will increase..
