Will anyone do Killing in the Name?

Someone must've done, surely. It would be funny to watch (although I have completely forgotten about the song over the past 6 months).

If someone did and they actually showed it, Cowell would go up in my estimation. Mind you, I couldn't possibly think any worse of him than I do already.

Songs I'd like to see performed:

* Happy (give it a sales boost and an excuse for Simon to compliment Leona ).

* Broken-Hearted Girl (Duane did a brilliant job last year).

* Te Amo (it'd be an interesting choice).

* Big Girls Don't Cry (also an interesting choice).

I'm wondering if any 2010 chart hits will be performed. I remember last year a girl sang 'Mama Do' as her audition song.

Something different from the same old tired songs that get recycled every year.

There was a discussion on Lauren Laverne's BBC 6Music show today on the most inappropriate song for someone to perform. I suggested Killing in the Name or Supper's Ready by Genesis - all 23 minutes of it. They didn't read my suggestions :(

Most of the suggestions they did read were full of expletives but there was also O Superman by Laurie Anderson - all 9 minutes of it (this was read out after I sent my suggestion of Supper's Ready). The listener said that she would have insisted on singing until the end even as she was being carried off stage by the bouncers

Several people also suggested songs by the likes of Karftwerk with very few lyrics

I'm expecting quite a lot of Empire State of Mind II and Don't Stop Believing

I hope we get some lesser known songs that will get a boost - I would love for someone to sing Killing in the Name- although I dont think a word of it would be MENTIONED on the whole of the series :kink:

I really hope we dont get ANOTHER performance of And Im Telling You- it makes my ears bleed

oh, and Im pretty dam sure that the winners song this year will be Dont Stop Believing :P

Oh my goodness. I forgot about that. Empire State of Mind will be everywhere (again). :o When I first heard it, I was like "Ooh! That's a nice song", but now I'm getting sick of it. It gets over-played on everything where the person who chooses the music is over the age of 30 (e.g. Heart FM).

According to a producer from Live From Studio 5..

Parachute was performed, but if FFTL was peformed.. then I'm guessing the producer got it wrong ?

Eeeek, i cant wait!

I'd friggin love for someone to sing fast car :')

Or The Saturdays! Ego :')

I'd love to see an act like Chris Daughtry on the UK show. Someone with a properly good rock voice, not like that Jamie fella...

I always thought that this would make a quite inappropriate X-Factor performance, although I can't see anyone having the mojitos to go through with it:

Other songs that would be good to hear, but realistically never will, are 'Just Like Heaven' by The Cure, Pure by the Lightning Seeds, and of course, Stay Together by Suede.

In the past, I've always jokingly suggested that given that Suede are on the same record label as the X Factor (Sony), they should do a Suede themed week, with Brett Anderson being a guest mentor. Maybe this year is the year I get of my metaphorical backside and do this...

Susan's House would be hilarious. It might even make me watch the karaoke contest for the first time. Stay Together (the full version) could be interesting. Any extra exposure for the Lightning Seeds (other than Three Lions again) has to be a good thing.

I'm sorry but this shows the utter patheticness of this country that the way we now discover songs is through a $h!t reality show that produces some of the most dire artists that have ever signed a record contract. You lot should be ashamed of yourselves!

There are more songs than in the opening episode btw, and some of them are just the backing/montage tracks as opposed to auditions, those are just the ones I remember from the press screening

@SweetDreams

All of Cheryl's songs have been performed by someone throughout the auditions, FFTL quite a few times.

More pathetic than going into a thread (or a load of threads; this one, Alexandra's) and spouting unnecessary negativity. Why would someone who dislikes XF come into this thread let alone post in it?

And while I sometimes get annoyed that a very hyped song ('I Gotta Feeling' for e.g.) gets a boost on iTunes just because it was played in the background for 5 seconds, you've got to appreciate that some people don't go out of their way to listen to music and if a great song was featured on XF, they might notice it, like it and then want to buy it.
