August 22, 201016 yr It was so close in the midweeks too - I remember CD:UK had Truesteppers at number 1 :o So I recall. Poor Victoria. Even dragging David round every Woolies in the country couldn't even get her that solo #1 she so desperately craved  Spiller definitely benefited from 'the weekend effect' i.e. people hearing it in clubs, recovering from a 10k deficit to take a 25k lead by close of trade Saturday iirc. CD:UK were wrong the following week too - they said that Spiller was going to stay at #1 with Madonna's Music debuting at #2, but by Sunday the opposite had happened.

August 22, 201016 yr Author I liked it when the real #1 changed from the one on CD:UK (and the chart show before it) as it shows that Saturday sales can make a difference!
August 22, 201016 yr Wow Iron Maiden got 'The Trooper' to No. 5 in 2005? How the heck did that happen, that song was released in like 1984! Was it a live version?
August 22, 201016 yr I liked it when the real #1 changed from the one on CD:UK (and the chart show before it) as it shows that Saturday sales can make a difference! Yep, even more so back then when physicals were in charge and it was the first chance a lot of people had a day off work to go music shopping.

August 22, 201016 yr Author Yep, even more so back then when physicals were in charge and it was the first chance a lot of people had a day off work to go music shopping. Yeah  I used to go to Virgin Megastore or Wollies every Saturday for my fill of singles (usually 3 or 4 a week!)

August 22, 201016 yr Can ANYBODY answer me if Radio One usually play a track from the No. 1 album or not? I don't wanna have to listen through a crappy Top 40 just for Maiden to get the cold shoulder <_<
August 22, 201016 yr Hi guys :D I'd prefer Eminem at #1 over Roll Deep although I like both and Roll Deep is much more likely. Also really hope Chase & Status have somehow held top 10 :D
August 22, 201016 yr Yeah  I used to go to Virgin Megastore or Wollies every Saturday for my fill of singles (usually 3 or 4 a week!) Me too, but I lived in a small town, so really it was a couple of indie shops most of the time, and HMV in Nottingham once a month, and I'd always buy about 6 or 7 imports
August 22, 201016 yr Can ANYBODY answer me if Radio One usually play a track from the No. 1 album or not? I don't wanna have to listen through a crappy Top 40 just for Maiden to get the cold shoulder <_< No, they don't, they normally just play a little mashup of clips from the album
August 22, 201016 yr Author Can ANYBODY answer me if Radio One usually play a track from the No. 1 album or not? I don't wanna have to listen through a crappy Top 40 just for Maiden to get the cold shoulder <_> No they don't - though Reg could play a clip of the album tracks briefly.
August 22, 201016 yr Can ANYBODY answer me if Radio One usually play a track from the No. 1 album or not? I don't wanna have to listen through a crappy Top 40 just for Maiden to get the cold shoulder <_< They usually only play a snippet, but sometimes they play a brief compilation of songs from the album
August 22, 201016 yr Yeah  I used to go to Virgin Megastore or Wollies every Saturday for my fill of singles (usually 3 or 4 a week!) Same, but I wouldn't go until 12.30 after CD:UK and lunch (and SM:TV ). This was the point when I first started going into town with friends every week (aged 12/13) rather than parents. I only had pocket money therefore but all I used it for was singles, I'd buy 2 or 3 a week often. We used to have tons of indies in Brighton as well as MVC/HMV/Virgin/Woolies/WH Smiths all selling music too...now it's just HMV x 2 and about three indies left
August 22, 201016 yr Emanna wasnt even number 1 in the midweeks- the charts just didnt have itunes data, Roll Deep was number 1 all week
August 22, 201016 yr Let's hope Leona doesn't stop Stromae making top 40 next week, can't see her sales holding up tho.
