The best episode in a LONG time. Kudos to Linda Henry who really should get more recognition for her acting...

Tonight's and last nights episodes were OUT OF THIS WORLD. When EastEnders is on form, it's ON FORM.

Really? I was disappointed. Glenda deserved far better. Not even a goodbye scene with Carol? She should've been deserving of our sympathy after what Ronnie did to her but they had to try and write her as a superbitch feeding Jane all the gory details of her affair with Ian. Shirley's 'revenge' was crap as well. Everybody acted it well but the writing just wasn't up to scratch.

I think I enjoyed it so much because it shows signs that there are some great episodes and reveals/aftermaths to come. Since about mid-January I've found myself very uninterested in the show at times. So many plots simultaneously building and bubbling, waiting for their big moment and a lot of nothing-y banter going on around them. In fact I'd say that the six weeks between mid-Jan and the beginning of March are the least interested I've been in the show since about 2003 when Shirley 1.0's noisy neighbour/cat murderer was the most interesting thing going on.

I actually thought Linda Henry acted the scenes in tonight's episode quite badly. She's not exactly great at the shouty angry thing (I always find it a bit forced and try-hard), but her crying scenes made me cringe more than pull at my heartstrings as they should've done. She's a very likeable character regardless, though and I felt for her.

I agree with Jark that Glenda deserved a bit more sympathy. The writers had her sent out of Walford as a complete bitch, whereas she was actually rather innocent of many of the things she was accused of. Then again, she was probably lashing out in anger at Jane and we did see her softer side with Ronnie and Roxy a bit earlier on, so I guess it was balanced.

I really wanted Shirley to deck her. That was all a bit pathetic - all that build-up then all she did was pull her hair!

Good episode though. I want to see what happens between her and Phil now.

I actually did feel a little sorry for Glenda at the very end. She spat out her last words to Shirley and in her last shot I thought she had an expression of sadness. Probably the best acting Glynis Barber's ever done in the role.

Although since she and Carol lit up the screens a few months ago, there really should have been a farewell scene between the two.

Now THAT was amazing television. Loved the heart to heart and the make-up sex (well not seeing them at it but you know, it was good writing for two quite animalistic characters) and the fact that Shirley decided not to get married but they still rode off into the sunset. Lovely.

I was watching some of this while my mum was watching it. Is it intentional that there's a very strong homework/kids hitting other kids/family issues/lectures being given out every five minutes vibe going on in this episode?

Is it because of that Comic relief?

I'm amazed at how Tiffany said consequences and big words like that. The buildup to the sex exploitation has begun. Can't wait to see what happens with Janine and Whitney.

Loved tonight's episode and I've finally decided that I really do like Lauren. Abi is so f***ing annoying though.
Janine was fantastic tonight! Especially when she was hiding in the laundrette and when Heather and George were 'racing' and she went 'wahoo' in such a sarcastic way.

Yeah Lauren was really strong tonight. Abi is still my favourite though! She's so funny. In a weird way she and Jay are quite sweet together too.

THIS

I love abbi and Jay. Different people from different worlds but the chemistry is so there

It's shocking how people have barely cared about Whitney. The fact they relied on Janine. Janine of all people to tell them where she is where in actual fact she doesn't know. It's sad. I think i would find it weird if Whitney just upped and left and happened to go and visit her brother for a few weeks without a text or a ring.

Brilliant episode tonight. Tiffany was back to be being cute and funny, which was nice. I, too, really like Abi and Jay together... very cute and Abi's very pretty, when did that happen!? :o I loved the last five or so minutes, from when Janine was looking for Lauren onwards. Great tension and Carol reading a hymn for Billie was beautiful aswell. :)

I thought Tiffany was great tonight too! This week's episodes have been brilliant so far. Lauren is quickly becoming one of my favourite characters.

I quite like Jay and Abi together (especially Jay's 'YES!' when he was leaving the laundrette) - Abi still really annoys me though.

Tonight's episode was brilliant - Lauren and Janine in particular. My favourite episode in AGES!

I wonder how Janine and Lauren will meet back up though, at first when Lauren was looking at someone, I thought it was Janine since it looked like they were on different parts of the same road, but then those two girls started looking Janine up and down (I'm guessing they're going to try to mug her)...

EE is unbeatable when it's this good. There was a proper sense of urgency and DRAMA tonight. Some lovely little touches too such as Max being so affected by Lauren remembering her manners for a change. My favourite bit had to be Janine ranting at Lauren in the underground though and then immediately losing her.

I have to say Janine was on top form, and I know it's not a popular opinion, but I LIKE NuLauren. The character has come a long way from being the most USELESS of the child cast, to quite happily taking Janine on and screaming at her that she's a "mental witch".

They would NEVER have been able to do that with Madeleine Duggan.

I have missed all this week and most of last week :(

Can someone give me a basic, and i mean basic overview what has happened please?
