October 1, 201015 yr Thanks - hopefulle it will rise over the weekend... I remember the trend that the week after the single release is when an album make the biggest increase/gains in weekly sales - don't know if that something that still happens today though (thats assuming the single can promote the album - i was very confidence GOMW would but now despite all the positive feedback eg the promotion, airplay, the videos popularity, endless chart forums eulogising over GOMW, it STILL has low downloads, not yet creating interest in the album at amazon web site with no new reviews for Aphrodite , i'm not sure anymore. However the positive is the exceptional success of the physical. The past reasons made in this thread (for merely for a collection or out of habit) i don't see as the only drive for such an exceptional number - i think some sales are simply from around my generation/casual fans cue missable nostalgic anecdote>>>(below) because UNLIKE the rap crowd(?) they LOVE the tune, quite possibly nostalgia in there as well to drive them to do something(buying a single) they left behind years ago ie if a lot of fans didn't like it they wouldn't buy - ie the ANTITHESIS of GOD HORRIFIC puppets on string(as fanatics) boyband :shudders: stans (i was around 15 when ISBSL came out and she impressed on many levels not just entertainment but beliefs, ideas, how intensely she would think about things (if you look back at her 88 interviews, though she given dumb media tag (really that was Jason imo), there are always ....pauses ( and .......pauses and you can see some interviewers getting miffed with their sarky comments about how long she thinks before she answers (certain) questions.Perhaps then not a coincidence i've been diagnosed with excessive thinking but its something i have to limit/manage as its potentially very bad for my health :(. Momentarily i can only remember one qu a few years into her PWL career. She was asked if she saw her her voice as an instrument...and did she take her time and mmh + ah. After all that b. time she came up with (from memory so just gist) a few word answer "...no no, i don't see myself at all" .To be fair in general you could see she put thought into her (genuine) answers, the complete opposite of your typical boybands practically everything in the media they utter is crafted deceit from their PR. Kyles might have had minimal education(as the odd embarrassing ignorant statement showed  ) but her capacity for thinking, her ability draw on her own experience, and to learn from others experience + knowledge (eg imo Michael Hutchence was a catalyst, eventually Kylie might have developed all the positive life skills she got from that relationship but by then Kylie's Pop career may have been well past any chance of saving http://www.planet-flipside.com/vboard/images/smilies/funeral.gif.) October 1, 201015 yr I really hope that's the lowest Kylie is for Sunday now... i guess you mean the single (perhaps both) but i would be glad to sacrifice a single's chart position for its effect on album sales (though as someone thoughtfully pointed out unlike mp3s (unless HUGE sellers) CD singles bought at the current Kylie degree level make much more profit than your average mp3 seller which makes next to nothing but probably still a cheap way to promote an album). Aphrodite's success at least could determine the potential the label will offer her in the next era. Whether thats a positive or negative is of course personal opinion eg the IP stans, i doubt care about the potential numbers of people that Kylie can reach + entertain with her charisma, unique modesty + sheer down to earthness for a star of her magnitude. For all the times she won't talk publicly about (whether emotional or from experience) things there are the times when she is frank, transparent + modest - since sex Kylie in 1990 she has always gone about how its not how she really looks, how she gets help, its all smoke + mirrors, ANYONE can be as sexy as Kylie in a Kylie vid ;) etc . In a US interview ( when making ATL vid) she mentioned she's coming up to her 5 year checks(? something like that) and about the emotional and physical scars that still remain and remind her vividly of the experiences from back then as i'm sure is the same for some others that have related experiences. I've not read that anywhere before or since - perhaps the lack of (consistent) media interest in the US makes her subconsciously less guarded though she must know the potential of the internet. Out of possible interest so far GOMW chart run is very similar to IMA - downloads alone didn't get the songs into the top 40 (just outside) but physicals caused a gigantic jump. However with this Kylie level of physicals such a jump can only occur in the lower regions why ATL ,with possibly similar physicals, didn't make such a huge difference in places jumped as sales are so much bigger at the top of the chart IMA chart run thanks to Chartstats: Week Position 26/04/2008 69 03/05/2008 57 10/05/2008 46 17/05/2008 10 24/05/2008 17 31/05/2008 32 07/06/2008 43 14/06/2008 61 21/06/2008 70 28/06/2008 82 02/08/2008 99 09/08/2008 99 Edited October 1, 201015 yr by ima
October 1, 201015 yr i'm not so sure anymore. i can see some of those going the way of stereophonics or the manics and being moved to the radio 2 list, but like someone like morrissey they will continue to have singles sucess for a few years after. especially with someone like Robbie if he keeps the more mellow slow ballady songs.its a shame 'shame' isn't alist on radio 1 but maybe shows the lesser exposure radio1 is giving them - but if it hits top spot next week they could move it to the alist. as for kylie her plays have been reduced in the last few years imo - her first single is always alisted but for less time and the rest of her singles are then only blisted! I thought IMA got onto the R1 A - list - perhaps i'm just getting confused that it made the Airplay #1 (or R2) and of that (#1AP) i am certain + deservedly so given such a classic trk ( oh yes and that radio will...er well used to, plays Kylie's farts given the degree of success + consistency she had as an airplay act this past decade in complete contradiction to the start of her career when she was treated as a joke by radio just like Britney has exceptionally managed for her ENTIRE decade of success except a couple of her first big hits possibly/ + around toxic and why her albums have + always will sell so poorly compared to the size of her hit singles) IMA's classicness was shot up subjectively after following up the epically naff (not)WOW a complete waste of an opportunity when it could have been overall fan + non fan adored, snappy + jumpy "Like a Drug" <3 re moved to R2. I doubt it if their treatment of GOMW is anything to go by ( i thought GOMW had been a COMPLETE DISASTER of a flop after what they did (was trying to avoid MWs at this point.)) They had GOMW on their playlist since radio release started on B then A for a week + THEN this week....... DUMPED straight off the playlist! :o To past it EVEN for R2 ? ..... unless i hallucinated the vanishing of GOMW (= tiny chance but poss) re Silver's original quote i don't agree with Madonna. Radio 1 BANNED her last GOD HORRIFIC EAR RAPING single (and gratefully endless other local stations followed suit) The loons claim that 'revolver' was never sent to radio stations - since when do radio stations need to be sent something to play it eg albums tracks getting airplay (eg 'Closer' album trk of Aphrodite got into the top 100 AP chart for some reason despite its lack of Pop appeal ala KM94 imo). Revulva WAS at least planned as a single and the media were aware of that. 10 years ago even 5 years ago Radio would be all over a new M single sent to radio or not. More excuses that it could barely scrape into the top 100 for a week (despite being available to download since Celebrations release). There was NO VIDEO - like how often has M released video for a single in the past 5 years (the promo for GITM was NOT a music video, UGLY,CHEAP + NASTY yes most definitely!)stopped her having at least top 20 hit. Next excuse there was no Promo; well given there was no video + no Airplay(having lost her coolness/aged no clue about the current music scene why her last single had dated 90's production she thought was todays latest "trend" with R1 + commercial radio) and Madonna can't be arsed to be a Pop star and promote what on earth else would you expect - nothing to blame except crap material, years of consistent poor effort, lack of vids, horrific artwork, crap musical output + an apparent retirement from pop music(except $$$$ touring). If Kylie is going to become a hasbeen in the near future at least she's going down doing her job, making vids FOR EVERY single, promoting her arse off (not like she's financially motived ( discrete charity donations without the attention grabbing of leaking the donation info to the Media cf.Stars official press release from their OWN PR OH i'm donating $$$$$ to people of this natural disaster because i'm am SO KIND,SELFLESS,SELF-UNCONCERNED + GENEROUS unlike all the current lies in the media about like kiddy laundering) - however performing to people/an audience AND entertaining them is what makes Kylie tick - boyfriends will never compare EVEN i imagine the current 'male underwear model' with a  one) Edited October 1, 201015 yr by ima
October 2, 201015 yr As for Enrique - can't think of many people as $h!te as he is Even as eye candy (in various departments not just my specific interest)? Even though his single seems more successful than Kylie's unless the album updates here just haven't pointed out where he is in the top 40 (+while he could well explode up the chart next week,) so far given that he reentered the chart at 42 a couple of weeks ago his album is not doing any better than Kylie's from his bigger chart hit. Its much easier for him in some ways( eg Kylie is more an established album act giving her an advantage) to sell more; a) His career is hardly drowning in top 10 smashes b> His current album managed to leave the top 100 in 7!! weeks!! http://www.steelheader.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drop.gifSo it sold FA compared to Aphrodite(even though hardly a mega seller itself currently).(ie less people have his single than Kylie's) c) His current album chart run is the rule rather than the exception for his albums only Escape (4P) + GH 1P achieved platinum . If he had an album in 99 it might not have charted here. Like the current album the rest bombed quickly out of the chart though one made a return to the top 20 for a WHOLE weekhttp://www.steelheader.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drop.gif before bombing out again (certs: 1S and 1G). Basically hes hardly saturated the market with his material, in contrast to put it politely where some people will want Kylie to give up Pop ASAP because they haven't been able to switch on a radio/go out without one her damn tunes being blasted out ;) however credit to him that he has managed to keep having a decent level of success for so long...... ....And he hasn't used extreme boyband gimmicks OR has he been getting his kit COMPLETELY off (if so could i have the mags name issue/month pls ;) ) a la PornFly (going naked in 'attitude'(excuse for soft porn) mag (just as bad as their ringtone chart cheating imo - where are all those little fans saying how Mcfly had huge variety crowd support just before Party girl was released, now the single has majorly bombed (start of 'party girl' release stans say " OH it will have a long life unlike the rest of their pop horrors" :heehee: (i guess the songs initial success was major novelty driven by EX fans now mostly grown out of such manipulated conceited manufactured tosh imo) their comeback is all but dead - i doubt even Taio (?) could make anyone who cares about their self respect to go near such chart cheating embarrassments and deservedly so for their past crimes to Music Chart integrity which should never be forgotten ( as if they weren't fully conscious of what their insidious Record company was doing - they were willingly and complicitly involved, fame for fame sake alone desperate, whatever the price/deceit/manipulation, like the sick, driven by it, culture of today). Dr Shipman past heinous crimes wouldn't have just been forgiven/forgotten if he'd suddenly morphed into a 'Florence Nightingale' character
October 2, 201015 yr Kylie's first single on Parlophone which fails to make the top 10 apart from "The One" which was a digitial only release EVEN Kylie cannot change the immutable facts of our existence; There is no certainty in our existence with ONE EXCEPTION that things will never continue to remain the same ie CHANGE is an INEVITABLE part of our reality.....
