01. Name a Manic Street Preachers Single.

I thought this would be a decent question for a variety of reasons. They aren't a 'BuzzJack' act and they had a fair bit of their success before some people taking part in this were even born. Do you go for their most well known hits? Their first number one? Or a recent single?

In the end it all 3 did fairly well. Probably their best known and most 'classic' song 'A Design for Life' and their most recent decent sized hit 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' both scored fairly well, however it was their first number one 'If You Tolerate This....' that was by some distance the most popular answer. Their other (better) number one fared much worse as only Frank picked it. Two for 'The Love of Richard Nixon' (I'm surprised anyone can remember it), and the same for their most recent single. I'm surprised no one went for either 'Motorcycle Emptiness' and 'Everything Must Go' though.

An even though they've had around 40 Top 75 hits it doesn't mean that answers are all going to be right. Shelli gets the Manics mixed up with Oasis (an easy mistake to make?) whilst Kaisa stays true to form and just makes a song title up.

'A Design For Life' is miles better than 'If You Tolerate This...'. Kudos to those who voted for this gem. ^_^ I even think it's better than 'Your Love Alone...' which is also fantastic.
if you tolerate this is the only one i've ever heard of so it was my only option

Urgh. You did, I have it correct on my spreadsheet, and on my overall points tally though.

If something is wrong (colour, answer) please shout up so I can double check.

Name a Country That Borders France

France borders 3 very large countries so it's perhaps surprising that so many people went for only two of them with Spain and Germany being by far the top answers. Grape and Robot are unlucky that only they went for Italy. 4 went for Belgium and Switzerland and Andorra get only the one answer.

Geography questions have so far proved quite difficult for some members so it's perhaps no surprise there's some wrong answers here. It's also no surprise that they're from the 'usual suspects'. Kuki said the Mainlands (whatever they are), Kaisa goes for San Marino (a country based IN Italy whose population is so small they couldn't fit into a half decent UK football stadium) and Angelic Shine says that France is bordered by erm..... France!

My A in Higher Geography came in handy here :smoke:

My teacher informed us that Belguim is the most interesting country ever, she was right. The Sambre Meuse coalfield was so much fun to learn.

you guys suck, Switzerland is the best country that borders France.

Hello (1): Kaisa

Wonderwall (1): Shelli Louise Po

I saw the Manics last week and they are still a top live act. They closed with A Design For Life and the spectacle of a crowd of people mostly 40+ belting it out at full volume was a real experience. It almost made me change my mind about my entry.

Thinking back I have NO IDEA why I went for Love of Richard Nixon over If You Tolerate This.

I think Kaisa got Oasis and MSP mixed up too (Hello was the 1st track on What's the Story...), or perhaps got them mixed up with The Cat Empire?

I somehow doubt it, given his previous form.

The border with Italy is relatively small though - compared with the size of the two countries - so that answer is less obvious. I think Kaisa was thinking of Monaco :(

What is it with this site and geography??? It's not exactly hard to look at an atlas or google maps/earth

I think Kaisa got Oasis and MSP mixed up too (Hello was the 1st track on What's the Story...), or perhaps got them mixed up with The Cat Empire?

Or The Beloved?

HA! THE MAINLANDS? FRANCE? Golden. I love this quiz.

Got both top answers so far :D I was in a pickle over If You Tolerate This and It's Not War, so I'm glad I went for IYTTYCWBN  The longest title of a UK #1 without parentheses, fact fans.

Wonderwall?

THE MAINLANDS? Poor Kuki

Where have you gone RFC? I was looking forward to being able to see the results live for once. :(

Did question 3 have 63 completely unique answers to type up or something?
