October 26, 201014 yr Author 01. Name a Manic Street Preachers Single. I thought this would be a decent question for a variety of reasons. They aren't a 'BuzzJack' act and they had a fair bit of their success before some people taking part in this were even born. Do you go for their most well known hits? Their first number one? Or a recent single? In the end it all 3 did fairly well. Probably their best known and most 'classic' song 'A Design for Life' and their most recent decent sized hit 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' both scored fairly well, however it was their first number one 'If You Tolerate This....' that was by some distance the most popular answer. Their other (better) number one fared much worse as only Frank picked it. Two for 'The Love of Richard Nixon' (I'm surprised anyone can remember it), and the same for their most recent single. I'm surprised no one went for either 'Motorcycle Emptiness' and 'Everything Must Go' though. An even though they've had around 40 Top 75 hits it doesn't mean that answers are all going to be right. Shelli gets the Manics mixed up with Oasis (an easy mistake to make?) whilst Kaisa stays true to form and just makes a song title up. If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next (26): Mikey, Gooddelta, Slick, Pavel, Regina Flowers, Rooney, 152 Chris, Kuki Sanban, Nicky, Brett-Butler, Bray, Jester, WillR, Poisoned Kisses, Chart Wizard, Trouble, Truly Talented, Severin, Martyn, Dandy*, JakeWild, JamesP, Mattais, Dannyboy, Jack, Jamie Your Love Alone Is Not Enough (14): Ghosthunter, Harve, Casey, Bert for Lashes, FM11, Aaron, Grape, Suedehead, C.R., Jonjo, Theo, Cremey, Robot, Angelic Shine A Design for Life (14): Chrisfishlock, Cod, Sabrina, The Viper, Daniel Gleek, Silas, Emily Haines, RabbitFurCoat, Shoat, Mancunian Giraffe, Common Sense, Jonny, Hitstastic, Matt Aloud The Love of Richard Nixon (2): Tyron, Nickthenoodle (It's Not War) Just The End of Love (2): Jack Pilgrim, Arrs The Everlasting (1): Josh The Masses Against the Classes (1): Frank Empty Souls (1): Kieran Hello (1): Kaisa Wonderwall (1): Shelli Louise Po
October 26, 201014 yr 'A Design For Life' is miles better than 'If You Tolerate This...'. Kudos to those who voted for this gem. ^_^ I even think it's better than 'Your Love Alone...' which is also fantastic.
October 26, 201014 yr if you tolerate this is the only one i've ever heard of so it was my only option Edited October 26, 201014 yr by JakeWild
October 26, 201014 yr 01. Name a Manic Street Preachers Single. I actually voted 'A Design For Life' did I not? :o Hi Mark, Here are my answers for BJFF. 1. Name a Manic Street Preachers single A Design For Life Maybe I should keep quiet ( :heehee: ) but I only think it's fair my actual answers are listed. :o
October 26, 201014 yr Author I just noticed my name is here. I actually voted 'A Design For Life' did I not? :o Urgh. You did, I have it correct on my spreadsheet, and on my overall points tally though. If something is wrong (colour, answer) please shout up so I can double check.
October 26, 201014 yr Author Name a Country That Borders France France borders 3 very large countries so it's perhaps surprising that so many people went for only two of them with Spain and Germany being by far the top answers. Grape and Robot are unlucky that only they went for Italy. 4 went for Belgium and Switzerland and Andorra get only the one answer. Geography questions have so far proved quite difficult for some members so it's perhaps no surprise there's some wrong answers here. It's also no surprise that they're from the 'usual suspects'. Kuki said the Mainlands (whatever they are), Kaisa goes for San Marino (a country based IN Italy whose population is so small they couldn't fit into a half decent UK football stadium) and Angelic Shine says that France is bordered by erm..... France! October 26, 201014 yr My A in Higher Geography came in handy here :smoke: My teacher informed us that Belguim is the most interesting country ever, she was right. The Sambre Meuse coalfield was so much fun to learn.

They closed with A Design For Life and the spectacle of a crowd of people mostly 40+ belting it out at full volume was a real experience. It almost made me change my mind about my entry.
October 26, 201014 yr Thinking back I have NO IDEA why I went for Love of Richard Nixon over If You Tolerate This.

I think Kaisa got Oasis and MSP mixed up too (Hello was the 1st track on What's the Story...), or perhaps got them mixed up with The Cat Empire?
October 26, 201014 yr I think Kaisa got Oasis and MSP mixed up too (Hello was the 1st track on What's the Story...), or perhaps got them mixed up with The Cat Empire? I somehow doubt it, given his previous form.

I think Kaisa was thinking of Monaco :(

October 26, 201014 yr Got both top answers so far :D I was in a pickle over If You Tolerate This and It's Not War, so I'm glad I went for IYTTYCWBN  The longest title of a UK #1 without parentheses, fact fans. Wonderwall? THE MAINLANDS? Poor Kuki
