Under the original definition (the size) the Times and Independent are tabloids.

I never knew that. I don't know anyone that would describe them as a tabloid in their current form though.

The treasure trove of knowledge that is Wikipedia classifies them as 'Compact / Broadsheet on Sunday' and 'Compact' respectively

The Times and Indy are also better placed to call themselves newspapers "Compact" was the term they used to avoid having to call themselves tabloids with all the ignominy that goes with that term

No, I think the decision if the Times and The Indy to go tabloid (or compact) has led to a change in definition - at least among younger people. My 2008 edition of Chambers still defines it as "A newspaper of small format usually rather informal or sensationalistic". I suspect eventually the definition will change to emphasise the second part.

Isn't FF educational? :D

9. Name a current Formula 1 Team (2010 season)

The Formula 1 drivers question we had was dominated by Lewis Hamilton. The team question has ended very close and it's no surprise to see Ferrari and McLaren have finished within a point of each other at the top. The two most famous teams which have both been hugely successful since most BuzzJack members were born.

Current championship leaders Red Bull get only 6, as do Renault, whilst three new teams in Mercedes, Lotus and Virgin also both had one person say them. It was almost a question with no wrong answers but Shelli came up with 'England' to save it. As a result every question this week has some wrong answers, with some of the best still to come....

McLaren (24): Gooddelta, Slick, Daniel Gleek, Pavel, Emily Haines, Shoat, Rooney, Bray, Nicky, Brett-Butler, WillR, Chart Wizard, Jonny, Trouble, Truly Talented, Severin, Martyn, Mattais, Dannyboy, Josh, Cremey, Hitstastic, Jack, Arrs

Ferrari (23): Tyron, Cod, Chrisfishlock, Mikey, Ghosthunter, Sabrina, Nickthenoodle, Harve, RabbitFurCoat, Frank, Mancunian Giraffe, Common Sense, Casey, Bert for Lashes, Suedehead, Dandy, C.R., JakeWild Jonjo, JamesP, Matt Aloud, Robot, Jamie

Red Bull Racing (6): 152 Chris, Kuki Sanban, Jester, Aaron, Grape, Angelic Shine

Renault (6): The Viper, Kieran, Silas, Regina Flowers, Jack Pilgrim, FM11

Mercedes (1): Theo

Lotus (1): Poisoned Kisses

Virgin Racing (1): Kaisa

England (1): Shelli Louise Po

I am doing very well so far this week! I'm liking it.

Oh and I totally ripped this answer off someone on my team because I had literally NOT A CLUE.

What the hell?

I even got the top answer on Q9 :o Although again I'd have got more points (well, one more point) if I'd gone for the second most popular answer

So I'll most likely have got 9/10 top answers (but only 7/10 top points) and one answer I score a big fat nothing from.

He has a Norwegian flag so I'm guessing not.

He's from Northern Ireland.

10. Name a city in the Midlands

A city in the Midlands? There are plenty to choose from but it's Birmingham that comes way out on top. What with it being the second biggest city in the country it would be the obvious answer. But the Midlands is a huge area of the country containing many cities and counties (to the disbelief of Theo) so there were a varierty of answers.

Nottingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Coventry are three of those and each get a point or two for the people that said them, mainly people who are from that area or go to university there staying loyal! But as well as these there are many cities in the Midlands for people to say. Derby? Leicester? Hereford? Lincoln? Wolverhampton? But every team had their dunce. Quests had Josh who went for Milton Keynes (not that bad but it is a town and not a city and generally considered to be in the South), Kieran said Liverpool, Kaisa went for Glasgow (I didn't specify England, although Glasgow's not really in the middle of Scotland) and Kuki went back to his old self with that place well known for being in the Midlands; Norfolk!

Birmingham (48): Tyron, Chrisfishlock, Mikey, Ghosthunter, Sabrina, The Viper, Gooddelta, Slick, Daniel Gleek, Pavel, Silas, Emily Haines, Nickthenoodle, Harve, Shoat, Rooney, 152 Chris, Frank, Shelli Louise Po, Bray, Nicky, Mancunian Giraffe, Brett-Butler, Jester, WillR, Common Sense, Chart Wizard, Casey, Bert for Lashes, Jonny, Aaron, Trouble, Truly Talented, Severin, Grape, Suedehead, Dandy, C.R., JakeWild Mattais, Theo, Matt Aloud, Cremey, Hitstastic, Arrs, Robot, Jamie, Angelic Shine

Nottinhgam (4): RabbitFurCoat, Jack Pilgrim, Martyn, Jonjo

Stoke-On-Trent (3): FM11, JamesP, Jack

Coventry (2): Cod, Regina Flowers

Milton Keynes (1): Josh

Liverpool (1): Kieran

Glasgow (1): Kaisa

Norfolk (1): Kuki Sanban

I got most of the top answers, oooh go me. :D

Most amusing was Mikey by Bert For Lashes, I wish I was 16  And France borders with France  I knew If You Tolerate This... would be the most predictable track from MSP

Disappointing wrong answers.

After the buildup I was expecting Kaisa to say Kazakhstan or something.

I would very much like to see what the British Isles as drawn up by Kuki and Shelli would look like.

Good to see you remaining loyal to Nottingham. And Kaisa's excuse is that he thought you wanted a UK city. Ah well.

Glasgow? seriously?

Scotland doesn't have any region that we call the midlands. We have 'the central belt' which is Glasgow->Stirling->Edinburgh->Fife/Dundee and more specifically The M8 Corridor [Glasgow->Edinburgh] and Central Scotland [Falkirk/Stirling]

Glasgow... seriously   Kuki try google.

Oh, dear. I feel bad about that last question. Didn't really think Birmingham is that popular (at least in here).

Hint: Some people actually refused to use Google or even Yahoo!

I don't know what a tabloid is, hence my failure there.

And I thought the Midlands were a county! :( At least I topped that answer though! :funky:

But eminem is rap and NeYo is rnb, and Emimen is white :o

But Oasis are Manc and gobby and MSP are Welsh and still going.

But one wrote Wonderwall and the other wrote Design for Life

I could go on...

The West Midlands is a county, but the Midlands itself also contains about a dozen other counties.
