I can't believe 3 weeks on and McFly are still at 11!

I think this dispells the myth that they are just a front-loaded boyband.

Why are people downloading Samantha Mumba's cover of AIWFCIY? Seems very random. It's a bit like downloading Billie Piper's cover of Last Christmas.

Still, it could give her her first chart hit since 2002 if it keeps this up (currently not far outside the top 300)

Probably because everyone has the original! LOL

Which are the new releases for tonight?

The highlighted ones are the songs I think will chart in the top 40 next week.

'What's My Name' is alright but I personally still think 'Only Girl' is by far the better song. For me, 'WMN' is like the 'Use Somebody' to 'OGITW' being 'Sex On Fire' - ie; the follow up gets boring more quickly than the lead single.

No way, for me 'Sex Of Fire' became just as annoying as Nickelback's 'Rockstar'. 'Use Somebody' has far more substance and stands the test of time better.

I found that I was hearing Use Somebody more often, so that's why I prefer 'Sex On Fire'.

Brandon's gonna flop :( Oh well, c'est la vie! We have a new Killers X-mas single to look forward to :cheer:
:o How long have McFly been back at 11? Shame they're quite behind Take That at 10. Hope they keep this up. So far so good. Depending on the impact of new tracks its possible that next week they could stay at the same chart position as this week rather than falling further. Or at least only a drop of about 2-4.
I think this dispells the myth that they are just a front-loaded boyband.

Not really. Im a fan but its only one song out of many of theirs that have been very front loaded generally. Its prob the Taio Cruz effect.

I think depending on what they release from the new album, the next singles could give us a better idea on whether it is the Taio Cruz effect or not. Especially as the album has sold poorly. There are some tracks on it which I really think non-fans would love.

Predictions:

Take Over Control - 13

Radio - 26

Hold My Hand - 16

Right Thru Me - 36

Who's That Chick - 8

Poison - 2

Taio Cruz being on it doesn't guarantee a success. He only has the occasional big hit himself and lots of flops, and that Tinchy Stryder single featuring him released a couple of weeks ago was a complete flop.

I think the song does seem to be having a wider appeal than their usual, even though I thought 'Party Girl' was so much better.

Pet Shop Boys sell a shitload of physicals. They will be top 40 for sure. I also think Mark Ronson will get in.

That's exactly what I was thinking too. I thought 'Use Somebody' was brilliant but it definitely got overplayed - I got bored of flicking through the music channels and either 'Use Somebody' was already being played or it was the next video that came on.

I really couldn't escape that song in December 2008/January 2009 so that's also why I'm more fond of 'Sex On Fire' - and that's with the boost the song got after The X Factor last year.

Anyways, I agree with RabbitFurCoat, 'WMN' has been getting lots of video airplay this week. It'll definitely rocket up the TV Airplay Chart next week.

:cheer: for Olly up to 2 and XFF down to 3

boo at BEPs up to 6 :(

on next weeks releases, Poison is the only one that will get top 10- it could be number 1 with her XF performance I think, shame as I really want Ellie to get a week there or it never will :( I wouldnt be surprised if Michael Jackson didnt make the top 10 or even 20, just cant see it being very big

and SOF>>>>>>US, although both are great rock classics

Their albums have always sold badly since the 2nd one and their single are generally all front loaded since that time too. I cant see that chnaging with the next song.

I dont think it has much wider appeal. If anything I think Party Girl did. I think this is one of the worst things they have done. I still think having him on the track has added a lot to its success. Strange how its the only songs of theirs to have longevity when he is a part of it.

I don't agree. I'm looking at it objectively as I think the song is very average, but I see a lot of positive comments from non McFly fans about it everywhere.

Maybe so but I still dont think it would have sold or hung around as long as it has if Taio wasnt a part of it.

I disagree - IMO it is Taio's fans who are propping this up, not McFly's.
