I am....

As they said on Have I Got News For You Last Week" - "Well, that's the TV gunnae be a load of sh!te for the next six months"... Yep, and the newspapers too....

Yeah, great, so we get a couple of days off, but of course what they fail to mention is the fact that it will cost small businesses £5billion in lost revenue... But hey, that's okay, I mean, it's something to "feel good" about, eh, and take our minds of the fact that our economy's absolutely fukked, our politicians are a bunch of self-serving, corrupt nob-ends, the public sector and education cuts that will destroy this country and the two wars that are going on where young men and women are being needlessly slaughtered.... But, hey, so long as we get an extra Bank Holiday, eh....?

Can you say the word - "distraction"....?

I've been fed up with it for at least a week.

Ditto.... I tell you what really ground my gears.. The fact that every single bloody newspaper last Thursday had Kate and Wills's supercilious, upper crust mugs on the front page except for one - The Independent... What did they run with? Why, only a trivial, piddling little story about the Irish economy going to the wall and the entire country basically being fukked... Nothing "important" at all really.....

You're just like Craig over on Haven, moaning about it. No I'm not fed up at all. It's great news and it'll be a great day. Time the country had some good news and joy. Surprised you've not mentioned the £80 million security bill that falls upon the taxpayer Scott.

The £5billion lost to the economy somewhat dwarfs that Chris, you know not that there's been a fukkin' recession or anything..... -_-

I think I shall be somewhere a bit more sensible on April 29th, maybe Germany, Belgium or France for a long weekend.....

Me too.

A letter in the Guardian today...

"A correspondent designs a mug for the royal wedding (Letters, 23 November). As an anti-monarchist, may I suggest we develop this idea for an alternative celebration by having a republican tea party? Oh, no ... hang on a minute ..."

i really couldnt give a $h!t about a royal wedding, pointless amount of fuss and money spent, i really dont see why people give a f***. "OH MY GOD SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE FAMOUS FOR BEING BORN AND LIVE OFF THE TAXPAYER ARE GETTING MARRIED, LETS DECLARE THIS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY AND WATCH IT ON TV".

I for one am not looking forward to Fife Council finally catching up with the rest of the world [They are based in Glenrothes so they are a bit slow. I think they are still on Dail-up down there]

I'm willing to bet it won't be long until St Andrews is turned into a circus with people turning up to see where Kate and Wills had their first date, and where Kate and Wills first shopped together :manson:

I can almost see the council orgasming with glee at the sheer number of temporary speed limit zones they can put up.

I read that Wills and Kate mugs are made for less than £1 in the Far East by mainly children for like 25p an hour and will sell here for about £9.99. :(

Good god yes. To be honest I didnt really hold much of an interest to begin with and thought it was quite nice and nothing more, little did I know how much the media were going to drag this sorry affair out for all it's worth.

The amount of coverage this got, and continues to get really is astonishing. I keep thinking people are being sarcastic when they say how brilliant it will be, and how all the bad things in the world will just be forgotten about now that we have this lovely wedding to look forward to, but no, worryingly they're actually being serious.

Worst of all, they're actually coming to live in North Wales. UGH.

How long before the first Facebook campaign to get a particular song to number one that week? Any ideas for a suitable song?

29 April 2011 would have been Lonnie Donegan's 80th birthday so how about My Old Man's A Dustman? That song was n umber one the day my parents got married :D

^ My dad loves that song by Lonnie Donegan.

On topic, I am sick of this royal wedding nonsense. I think it should be a quiet occasion with just family and friends of the actual couple, ignore the politicians, world leaders, etc. I enjoy royal history, spend a fair bit of my leisure time reading about it but don't see the relevance of them today.

I'll still be in Nebraska by then, although it's debatable as to whether that's a more sensible place.

As for songs to campaign to be no.1 for the visit, I'd suggest the song 'Helicopter' by Bloc Party. Key lyrics: "Are you hoping for a miracle," "Just like his Dad, just like his Dad (the same mistakes), Some things will never be different, Hungry and dumb, hungry and dumb (so wait in line)" and "Why can't you be more European,

bast*rd child of guilt and shame."

How about Billy Connelly 'D.I.V.O.R.C.E.'? :D

I'm not exactly a royalist but surely the extra bank holiday (and the two four-day weekends one after the other) will lead to a huge boost in consumer spending negating the lost profit?

(And that £5bn figure MUST be inaccurate. Do small businesses really make an aggregate of £5bn in one day?)

No doubt at least one broadcaster will want to show it in 3D which may lead to an increase in sales of 3D televisions.

The problem for a lot of businesses may come from people trying to get a nice long break from work while using only three days holiday. Unlike Christmas / New Year, there's even a chance of decent weather.

Well yes, but let's not forget the massive increase in beer, BBQ etc. sales - which played a large role in the growth in the second quarter this year if I remember correctly?
