thats my major beef w/ gaga- EVERYthing shes doing now is beyond contrived and over the top with this goal of showin MJ, Madonna, Bowie etc.."how its done", but its all an epic fail LOL. With ther 1st album she was just doin her thing- all organic and effortless hence the original great songs and videos. Now, shes just losin the beat completely. Seems she wasnt quite ready imo (maybe due to record company pressure etc..) It'slike she just rushed this entire era and prob shoulda waited at least another 6 months-1 year, created more need/ hype then delivered QUALITY goods (which I actually think she was capable of). But all these s*ht songs and videos and only going to eat away at her 9 career lives quicker. Meaning people are good to care less and less each time if she doesnt come through soon.

It's crap! So pretentious and she's trying too hard these days, and also takes herself far too seriously. It's a slight improvement on the mess that was the 'Alejandro' video but I want another one like 'Paparazzi' or 'Bad Romance', she was totally in her element in those.

 

Having said that, the skull scenes are quite cool.

Don't like it. Her worst video for me. I feel she's rushed new material so soon and this is the best she can do. I love GaGa and all but I'm just hoping there's better. Video and song aren't anythng to write home about for me unfortunetly.

 

Although her dancing as a skull was really good.

Really not a fan. I still don't like the song either.

 

The intro is ridiculously pretentious. The sooner she realises she's not God, the better. It's shame, because I do absolutely love her.

Born This Way (the song) was recorded in May 2010. Hardly rushed. She's been recording the album a year.

Meh, she's just far too pretentious for me these days :(. I miss the days of when she didn't take herself so seriously, but at the same time was still interesting and artistic.

 

'Telephone' and 'Paparazzi' are her best videos and deserved the 7 or so minutes they were. This was just a yawnfest, but had it's moments I guess.

Yes it was pretentious. But Gaga IS pretentious, so why are people shocked that her video showcases that?

 

Anyways... I thought it was a great video. The dancing scenes were my favorite as well as the skull scenes. The birthing scenes were blegh though.

This video is brilliant! I really, really love it. Particularly the skeletal scenes! It's the video 'Alejandro' should have been!

 

I'd like it much more without the ridiculous intro.

The much simpler parts with the dance routine are the parts which work best with the song I feel.

I agree with this also. The intro was a bit OTT. But everything else was spectacular I feel.

 

Still not keen on the song though.

I can see that, as with the song, everybody's going to be divided again. Oh well. It'll probably still become the most watched video on youtube ever or something.

 

I love it! Mesmerising from start to end. Love the story, the direction, the fantastic sets/CGI, the dancing (and I never like dancing in videos), everything. S'perfect.

The two people I really agree with in this thread, I don't think there's anything more to add. I'd rank it only behind Bad Romance, and I think even then, it's a close call. The production, the art direction, directing, story - she is pushing the boat out for herself as an artist and I'm loving every minute of it.
