After all I Gotta Feeling, Meet Me Halfway, Imma Be and Rock That Body all used samples, and Boom Boom Pow basically did (Planet Rock). Check It Out and OMG also used samples, and 3 Words almost sampled David Guetta/Coldplay. And let's not ever get started on the pre-2009 songs. :lol: The main problem with the sampling in The Time was just that it was so out there, and they sampled such a famous song, which loads of people love. Madonna managed to make her song sound fresh and still "paying a tribute to ABBA" without destroying their hit!

I think it's a very good sample though, since the song isn't based around the sample, rather the sample just adds to the song, if that makes sense. And whilst it's not a sample, a lot of people have said Meet Me Halfway sounds a lot like Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper. Here's a video comparing the two songs: Fergie also said the hook of Meet Me Halfway was inspired by Borderline by Madonna, which she heard at a concert when she was a kid. Meet Me Halfway is my favourite song from 2009, so I know like absolutely every single thing about it. :D I find it fascinating. It's like music genetics. :lol:
