Hopefully it can cement a top 10 place next week as the only thing out is Bruno Mars, and the songs from Glee's first episode.

We're getting more Glee Cast songs next week! :o I think Empire State of Mind will go top 10 on iTunes. I heard it played on Radio 1 months ago, which was pretty random.

And Katy B being back up to #2 amuses me greatly. It's reminding me of the furore every time Katy On a Mission climbed a place on iTunes.

Also, about Imma Be vs. Rock That Body, I like both, but I prefer Imma Be. Both were very interesting compositions of music, compared to the rest of the charts at the time, but I think Rock That Body just wasn't catchy enough, compared to the likes of Boom Boom Pow and Meet Me Halfway. Rock That Body is brilliant though, in a way. If it didn't get released as a single, I bet I would be complaining about it now.

Also, Jessie J is up to #5! :o Being top 10 on iTunes is really helping it.

Invincible #11! :o Maybe it will get top 10 after all. Just a shame that it will probably replace Firework, if it makes it. :(

S&M up to #38! :o I wonder if it'll keep climbing of its own accord and make the top 40 officially in a week or two!

Oh great, Glee is back :puke: I'm *hoping* the effect will be less than it was last year (67 top 100 hits was just way too much) but somehow I get the feeling it'll be even bigger this year :( Although they won't ever get another proper hit a la DSB

Empire State Of Mind will probably go top 10

Im happily surprised Take Thats the flood is still top 12 i excpected it to drop to something like number 18 this week, hopefully it can remain top 15 on sunday.

I think the effect will be less than last year tbh. I'm thinking their songs will suffer a lot, due to the show having aired in the US earlier.

Also, I've only listened to a few of the songs, but from what I've heard, I think the season 1 songs were better. I think they could (and would deserve) to get a slightly big-ish hit if they made another song like Halo/Walking on Sunshine, where it's not just a version of a song which sounds almost exactly the same, but a song which some effort was clearly put in, and also something which people haven't heard before.

But the same applied to the first half of Series 1?

Glee was new then, and did not have as large a fanbase as it does now in the UK. I know very few people in the UK who started liking Glee before it aired here.

Now, however, most people I know that are Glee fans have watched all the episodes online, and have already got all the songs they like.

But we can just wait and see.

What's with the climb for Rihanna's Fading?

Most of the album tracks are doing fairly well

1. What's My Name

13. Only Girl (In The World)

38. S&M

163. Fading

192. California King Bed

207. Man Down

216. Cheers (Drink To That)

234. Raining Men

268. Complicated

394. Skin

Why are they all so high, considering the album wasn't released this week? Is there an iTunes error or something, where you can't buy the album as an album, so instead you have to cherry pick them to create your album? Maybe why she's losing the battle to Plan B in the mids... (A Similar thing happened to Cheryl Cole '3 Words' last year iirc - but that happened release week...)

Well not exactly. Look at today's MW report:

...

Plan B’s The Defamation of Strickland Banks (679 / Atlantic), which climbed sharply last week after being discounted to as little as £3, currently has the edge on the albums chart, ahead of Rihanna’s fifth album Loud.

When you post these could you possibly post the normal ones at the same time? Sorry :P

Oh rightttt. :( It doesn't matter anyway as she's number 1 on iTunes album chart...

Yep I'll do it in the next update

Cheryl is at number 12 on my feed.

What feed do you have? It can't be the iTunes feed. She's at number 29.

Looking at the chart, some album tracks hang around for ages and ages. Like Wonderman by Tinie Tempah and Ellie Goulding is #262, Won't Back Down by Eminem and Pink is #466, Coming Home by Pixie Lott and Jason Derulo is #468, and these were all released ages ago. Infact, Won't Back Down was released in June, and has never left the top 1000 on iTunes. I guess some album tracks just keep selling for some reason.
