January 6, 201115 yr I hope and think both will happen. IMO Rihanna & Jessie J sum up the good, and the bad in R&B Rihanna comes up with catchy, family-friendly songs, whereas JJ's DILAD encapsulates what I hate in urban - crudity & obscenity. It's bad enough coming from from males, lat alone females. :(
January 6, 201115 yr It helps that it's like £3 in HMV. ;p In the sense that £4.99 is 'like' £3, you mean?
January 6, 201115 yr I think it was rather a good choice - totally different from the usual cheesy winner`s single - slightly over-produced in parts, but then he was never going to be allowed to do a stripped back accoustic version. It does confirm the direction that Matt wants to take with his music though. I think if he is allowed to take his band on board with him and write his own album then the future looks good. He is capable of writing good songs - we know that (well those who have heard Seven Summers do and some of the lyrics he writes are pretty damn good). I think it is by miles the best winners song. I think he has a good voice and this seems like a good direction to go in. For some reason though, his voice seems quite underwhelming on this song, maybe because of the production. January 7, 201115 yr To be fair to Jessie J, I've heard her next single, and it's a lot 'nicer' than her current one, if you know what I mean. Maybe - but the nature of your first single can decide whether radio/TV will touch your later releases. Of course, if your first song contains lots of 'naughty' words, then the media won't be allowed, by their own rules, to give you a break.
