So Rihanna just 1k ahead of Matt - he`s bound to sell at least 10k physicals by close of play Saturday I would have thought so he might just make a 4th week at 1
I think his physicals might just narrowly keep him at No 1 come the weekend - will be close though.

They aren't going to increase, so I don't see how they *can* save him, as Ri's gap over hm on iTunes gets ever wider...

I`m just happy he`s selling consistently.

Consistantly?!

His sales dropped 40% 2nd week, then 57% week 3...

How do you know they aren`t going to increase when the biggest shopping days on the high street are Friday/Saturday ? And by consistent I mean that he is still riding high on iTunes.

But why on earth would they buy a physical copy *this* week, if they haven't already availed themselves of the opportunity over the last 3 weeks?

Do I hear the sound of straws being clutched at?

He's #2, yes - but being rapidy hauled in by everyone...

I'm not sure what the big deal of him being #1 for a 4th week is, anyway?

Not that anyone on here will care but yay for Pro Green, hope he stays Top 40 in both singles and albums! Though he should be doing so much better.

Oh didn`t realise there was a "3 week cap" on buying CDs now

Wow Plan B returns to number 1 and GaGa at 13. Amazing

What does that have to do with anything? Why are enough people downloading 'Love The Way You Lie' for it to be a non-mover in the mid weeks, when they could've done that ay any time over the past 7 months?!

:P

I guess Matt C should enjoy his 15 minutes of fame though - 1 more single & one album, then he'll be joining Steve Brookstein, Shayne Ward & Joe McElderry on the dole queue... :)

I think Cardle might just hold on - as others have said, physical sales are still weighted more heavily towards the end of the week than downloads are, which will give him a disproportionate boost vs. Rihanna, and he seems to be holding up surprisingly well on iTunes (I'm pretty sure Joe was out of the top 10 on iTunes by this stage last year).

If he does hold on, what was the last song that spent 4 weeks at #1? Did anything do it last year?

Lily Allen / The Fear 4 weeks (March 2009) was the last act to have 4 weeks at #1.

You got me on that specific example. :)

Lily Allen "The Fear" was number one for 4 weeks in early 09'. I want something to be no.1 for 4 weeks soon but not by an X Factor winner.

Great to see Alfie Boe climbing into the top 15. What a voice.

Agreed! :yahoo:

Anyone know exactly which position he is holding? Up from No 24 in his release week is really good for his genre.

Very good for the classical genre (although quite why he isn`t also in the classical charts is a mystery - maybe not enough "classical" element to qualify)

No it needs to have 60% classical content to qualify and bar one song which isn't classical either, it's a Musical Theatre album.

Like you say though, great for his genre.

Alfie Boa is holding 14 apples. ;)

Olly's falling pretty quick in the album chart now :( Bring on the third single! Fantastic climb for Eliza Doolittle though.
