Thank you.

Also, I just realised this is the wrong thread. I thought this was the YTD thread when I posted those requests. Won't happen again.

Great sales for I Gotta Feeling and Sex On Fire :D

Most commercial rap music isn't like this at all. What about the Dizzee Rascal singles? They're up-tempo and mood-raising, but you still (presumably) hate them. What's the reason for that?

His songs may raise your mood, but not mine - as you rightly presumed, it's because of what they are that I don't like them - however illogical that may seem to some here.

However, it's certainly not all urban songs I dislike - I like a number lot of songs by such artists as Rihanna, Beyonce, Kelis & Jamelia, to name a few.

The unique characteristic of all rap, though, is that it is spoken, rather than sung.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I prefer musicians to have talent in at least one of the following 3 areas : singing, playing an instrument, or composing music. ;)

Wonderman #16  I think this could be a #1 actually, with radio play behind it and the new video impact it'll storm up the charts, AND the Brits exposure and without a doubt he has at least one brit in the bag surely, as does Ellie.

It's not correct that I haven't said why I don't like it, it's just that such posts tend to get lost in the flood.

However, I will restate them here for the record :

I find rap, dark, depressing, aggressive & obscene. Personally I use music to escape from the troubles of everyday life, which is why I prefer uplifting genres, like pop & dance. When I was a teenager, it was punk that filled the musical niche that rap now occupies, but even then I didn't like songs which lowered my mood.

Fair enough :)

I certainly don't intentionally come across as thinking I'm better than people who like rap. If that's how you feel, then I apologise, but I cannot change how I feel about the music.

I also hate getting sucked into these musical slanging matches, but when someone claims that rap is the best thing since sliced bread, it's hard for me not to rise to the bait...

You do use alot of the  smileys when talking about rap which gives the impression that it is of little value and it belittles people who do like rap. If you do happen to get 'sucked' into discussions like these then just say why you don't like it.

Another #1 for Tinie?

Surely not, I think it'll be top 10 though.

Just been looking at the top 40 chart on my database, more than half of the chart is only available on downloads only, it won't be long now when the top 40 charts will be looking like a download chart, when all music gets available straight away.

I'd much rather she'd win one for 'Your Song' though.

As it's already top 20 on iTunes with still a few more weeks until the physical/full release I'd be very disappointed if it doesn't go top 10. Invincible did a similar thing. :(

Ah, now I understand.

I've never intended my frequent use of smileys to be interpreted that way - they are supposed to take the sting *out* of my comments, indicating they are not to be taken fully seriously.

I suppose many people, including myself, see them as smiley used to ridicule what someone has said, maybe you could use the ;) smiley which I'm 99.8% sure won't offend anyone :)

Oh my god "f***in pefect" is going to be huge

that pink song is that high because the video play has kicked in and radio airplay is starting, but unless shes perfiorms it somewhere on the official release, she might find it hard to eventually go top 10!!

Just as well you're too young to remember Bryan Adams in 1991, then. :P

Wasn't it no. 1 for like 4 months :o I'm younger than Sabrina, so luckily I'm not old enough to recall it either!

god has britney still not got a video for that song, itll look ridiculous when she drops out of the top 10 officially only to climb in again when the video does get played to death!!

You've gone and overtaken me as the youngest regular poster on here :arrr: Unless there's another younger person I'm unaware of

It was #1 for 16 connsecutive weeks which is the record, but in the 50s Frankie Laine's I Believe spent 18 weeks out of a 20 weeks period at #1 (although in the 10th and 17th weeks in that period there was a different #1)

Gosh, that's insane. Seriously, even a 3-weeker seems like an eternity to me!

Then again, I vividly remember the Black Eyed Peas being #1 for 26 consecutive weeks in the US a couple of years ago. That was shortly after I started following international charts.

Love Is All Around by Wet Wet Wet was No.1 for 14 weeks in 1994.
