Are you actually being serious? Adele outstaged everyone completely.

Rihanna was decent but I preferred Adele, Tinie, Plan B and Arcade Fire to her.

Yes i'm being serious. If it wasn't for Rihanna's appearance/performance, the show would have been twice as DIRE and depressing as it was...

Rihanna was BY FAR the highlight of the show for me.

I do like Adele alot, but the way people are bumming her so hard puts me off a little :(.

I feel the same way as Jack about Adele :(

What is released at midnight? So I know whether or not to have an early night or stay up and watch some DVD's.

Haha nicely put! I much prefered her first album, the songs were so much more epic in my opinion, and relatable. Maybe over time 21 will grow on me, but for now im sticking to 19

The clean version of 'f***in' Perfect', which you should know Regina. -_- :P

Not sure what else though. :P

Rihanna and Tinie's were my favourites, because I preferred the songs, hence enjoyed the performances more. Adele sang the best though, but she'd have a more difficult time entertaining me since she wasn't singing songs like Miami 2 Ibiza or Only Girl.

I agree with that, Tinie upstaged everyone towards the end. It was arguably easier for Adele to put such a simple performance on earlier in the show, Rihanna's medley lifted the whole thing then Tinie took it to the next level.

I know it's all about opinions and nobody is right and nobody is wrong but for many of us, me included, that would be a big plus point

Leaving opinions aside, the great British public have clearly decided who they thought stole the show looking at how sales have gone since the show aired and you tube views. Now, an artist like Rihanna with a predominantly young fan base should have a massive advantage over Adele when it comes to you tube but certainly on the Brits youtube performance she's getting all sorts of slaughtered.

Adele - 923,000

Rihanna - 528,000

An amazing difference, you have to admit.

Oh YEAH :o

Well thats good enough for me.

Really? Why? No matter how you are trying to dress it up, the public has voted with their mouse clicks and wallets and Adele stole the show. It would matter not where she sang in the proceedings - actually putting her on very early made it worse for the rest of them as the best came on early and the rest struggled in comparison. This is not opinion this is borne out by what has happened since...

^ To be fair, Adele's performance got put on the front page of youtube, whilst Rihanna's didn't.

But I was just saying, if I had to rank the songs (based on their studio versions), it'd go something like:

Miami 2 Ibiza BEST

Only Girl

Written in the Stars

What's My Name?

S&M

Someone Like You

Pass Out WORST

I'd say Pass Out is like a 6/10 for me, so I like all the songs concerned, but Adele really would've had a tough time topping Rihanna and Tinie's medleys, given the songs concerned. If Tinie performed only Pass Out, and Rihanna performed Russian Roulette, Adele's performance probably would've been my favourite. Or if Adele performed Miami 2 Ibiza, her performance probably would've been my favourite.

Because there's a natural expectation for every performance to be bigger and better than the previous one. I'm not saying Adele should have gone for a huge blockbuster, far from it. Her performance was lovely but I think it would have been far more likely to get a bit lost later in the show.

Adele is sure to get the #1 this week, but i agree next week will be interesting.

Gaga has announced that the video will be released around the time she has her Madison Square Garden performances (Mon/Tue) so should help its sales for next week as a whole.

In other news, its the fastest selling single in iTunes history worldwide. With the world only hearing it a week ago and no video, the song still has a fair bit of steam left in it.

Rawr.

Yup, 1M sales in 5 days :smoke:

Alexis Jordan - Good Girl and Claire Maguire - The Last Dance are the other main releases.... I think

Just to say that Nikki Kavanagh - Falling (Irish Euro NF) and Yohanna - Slow Down (Nott) (Iceland NF) are available on UK iTunes. I love them both! :D Doubt they'll reach iTunes top 1000 though :(

Yep. Let the numbers speak  Adele outshined everyone else, including the "big" Rihanna! A comment on youtube that makes me wonder too

The Brits and Grammys 2012 will totally belong to Adele. I often wonder what so-called singers like Katy Perry, Cheryl Cole, Rihanna and the rest actually feel when they see a performance like this... embarrassment?

That's a comment from one of those people who only like songs if they're sung by a good singer. That's a ridiculous attitude. In my eyes it should be:

"I wonder how Bruno Mars, Cee-Lo Green, and the rest actually feel when they hear songs like Firework and Only Girl... embarrassment?"

Do you see what I mean? I'd love any artist with Rihanna's discography, however well or bad they sing.

This. (For every Rihanna song before Rude Boy, just got back into her with S&M). For Lady GaGa for me though. :)

Disagree. I don't think Adele will win big at the Grammys. Brits?? Yes. Adele is brilliant. But I think she'll be nominated in Pop Vocal categories rather than in Big Four categories.

I suppose he was referring to the vocal abilities and not so much about the song! He/she is comparing voices and imo he is totally right! How do they feel when they see any artist that can actually sing atm that they only mime or sound crap live?

In the case of Firework, I would imagine any self respecting songwriter would actually be hopeful they wouldn't be tempted to write a first few lines like this:

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag

Drifting throught the wind

Wanting to start again

 True! But Firework is a pop song, not a hip hop song! This is one of the most beautiful and joyous pieces of music that made the chart last year. Hence why it got used in like a billion adverts, in the background of every episode of the X Factor, etc.
