February 15, 201114 yr They are both nails in the coffin of ''commercial music'' - utter crap 'songs', I could make better by hurling kittens into the North Sea and strapping a tape recorder to their paws tbf. Well, one of them sounds like it was made 25 years ago, so using that logic, would the coffin have been nailed shut sometime around the early 80's?
February 15, 201114 yr Would prefer Jessie, but GaGa's obviously going to get it. And 'Born This Way' is growing on me too so I'm not overly bothered which gets it.
February 15, 201114 yr lmao at many of u saying '"cause Price Tag has already been #1 Gaga should have it now?" wtf? lol. No, BTW is a NON #1 worthy song period, and does NOT deserve #1- even if Price Tag spent 10 of the last weeks at #1 LOL.
February 16, 201114 yr No. I agree with other people. Sometimes there's lots of songs you like, and you want them all to hold the title of "UK #1". I don't want the same song hogging the top spot for months. That sort of behaviour is selfish, boring, and downright despicable.
February 16, 201114 yr Like Jessie J, and Love Price Tag, but its been #1 for 2 weeks, so Gaga for #1 (even though will be there for a few weeks i guess) unless now Adele can make #1

In my opinion it is a ridiculous piece of s**t and didn't deserve #1 in the first place?? BTW does, in my opinion, so I want it to be #1.

No, BTW is a NON #1 worthy song period, and does NOT deserve #1- even if Price Tag spent 10 of the last weeks at #1 LOL. If it gets the highest sales one week then yes, it does deserve #1, especially if it continuously sells well... I don't want the same song hogging the top spot for months. That sort of behaviour is selfish, boring, and downright despicable. Downright despicable? A bit OTT. It's not really one individuals fault if a song gets 10 weeks at #1. I like long #1s, gets people like 'Ooh, can Rihanna manage an 8th week? :o', whereas I see it as 'Another new #1...YAWN'. I'd say long #1s are more deserving of #1 than a one weeker, but I guess it doesn't matter as long as it doesn't bomb down the charts straight after and sells very well overall.

If a song was at #1 for 9 weeks, in that situation, I'd probably want it to get a 10th week, just so it can get into double figures. Or if a song was about to break some record, I'd probably be in favour of it having a few extra weeks at #1. Like the BEPs in 2009 in the US. At first it was like "Are they STILL #1? :drama:", but when them beating the record for longest stay at #1 of all-time was actually within reach, I was like "Well, I may aswell support them all the way then". But other than that, not really tbh.
February 16, 201114 yr I think it will be very close this weekend. Gaga's sales are decreasing JJ's one increasing. Only few hundred sales (or less) will separate them. Both will be over 90k this week. Actually I think releasing track at the end of the week is quite a bad idea. If Gaga would've been released this week (on Sunday) she would be deffo #1 this Sunday. But now I'm not sure, she has already "lost" over 60k sales last week.
February 16, 201114 yr Actually, I've just remembered, the reason I prefer long #1s is that if there is a new #1 every week, getting to #1 won't feel like such an achievement, it would be too easy, especially weeks with say only one major release.
February 16, 201114 yr Adele is now 1 and 4 on iTunes, so she is in with a good chance. Jessie J was close behind Lady Ga Ga and she is out selling her at 2 now, so she might sneak it. Lady Ga Ga, despite being 3 on iTunes now, sold the most Sun - Wed. A real three way battle. Edited February 16, 201114 yr by starryeyed
February 17, 201114 yr A real three way battle. A threesome? http://www.futurelooks.com/forums/images/smilies/3some.gif I have a feeling Jessie J will be number 1 for the third week in a row. ^_^

It can certainly be boring for any song to be #1 for a long time, but 'selfish' & 'downright despicable' are terms that can ony be applied to people, not inanimate objects. :)

February 17, 201114 yr Agreed - though Adele's album sales might mean SLY's sales boost is short-lived... SLY's big sales boost is naturally short-lived as it's based off a TV performance. Although I think SLY will continue to sell fairly well even if it's not made a single.
