People will know of her from Diddy's 'Coming Home' & Dr Dre's and Eminem's 'I Need A Doctor', but I am currently in love with Skylar (Holly Brook)! I think she's a true talent. She did the melody and wrote the hook to 'Love The Way You Lie'! Her version is beautifully haunting!

 

 

She really has a beautiful and vulnerable tone to her voice. I've given a couple of her songs a listen, when she was "Holly Brook" but I far prefer her doing the RnB, mid-tempo'd tracks! But like I said her voice is beautiful! So no matter what she sings for me at the moment, I'm pretty sure I'll love it. We need a thread for her :wub:

She's going to be huge by the end of the year. Everybody is scrambling to get her involved with their songs, Nicki Minaj 2009 style.

Interesting to see if she has smashes for herself.

I Need a Doctor is doing nothing on airplay in the US though but selling quite well.

Aaah hadn't heard the 'Love the Way You Lie' demo before, it's brilliant!

Love everything she's been involved with so far (well, the ones that I know) and I love her voice.

 

Plus, I'm loving her 'look' and the sense of mystery surrounding her at the moment. Interested in hearing her solo material!

I love her voice! I'm more interested in her solo material though, tracks like 'Coming Home' and 'I Need A Doctor' are run of the mill and don't really cut the mustard for me.

Really loving her demo of 'Love The Way You Lie', her voice is really quite stunning. Adore her on the Diddy/Dre singles aswell, cant wait for some more material from her - should hopefully be amazing.

I love her name but find her nothing to add to my itunes about to be perfectly honest. I can see her being another Keri Hilson. Jump onto a few collaborations to get her name buzzing about and then when it comes to her actual album, most of her singles will have some rapper on and she have perhaps the one hit, the album not be a huge seller and go under the radar.

I could do with another Keri Hilson tbh. :lol:

 

But she's not really "jumping on" to collaborations. She's usually the one there first. Alex Da Kid makes the instrumental, Skylar Grey sings the hook, and then they give the song to a rapper. With Love the Way You Lie, Eminem chose Rihanna to sing the hook instead, for obvious reasons, but with songs like I Need a Doctor and Coming Home, Skylar Grey was there first, so to speak.

Her first Buzz single is released soon! :D

It is pretty awful cover art. The juxtaposing of the text and image is a total contradiction of styling. Quite a harsh futuristic font spliced with a softer more emotive image doesn't work. Horrible filtering etc I could go on.

It looks like something that would come a comfortable second in the Buzzjack cover comp but which would never be real cover art. Also gothic popstars are a bit 2005.

Perhaps this is where Ruust's life is now at? Left Buzzjack to make tacky artwork for popstars and not just the brethren of Buzzjack :o
