Hi, according to Wikipedia they had two 3xPlatinum albums. :o Did they really sell that much with their albums? And they had a ton of top three singles, did any of them have particuary impressive sales? :)

Singles-wise, no!

Most (all?) of their number 1s would be in the lowest-selling number 1s bracket (less than 200k) 'Who's David' sold less than 70k I think, You Said No about 100k, Crashed The Wedding about 125k...

I do remember being surprised when their 'Thunderbirds/3AM' sold about 70k first-week, which was loads for the summer of 2004. It was top 20 year-end too IIRC, but probably only sold 180-190k total. Possibly 200k by now but I doubt it.

Probably their biggest selling single was 'What I Go For School For' if it wasn't Thunderbirds.

Year 3000 sold less that Thunderbirds did (might have passed it with downloads?)

I remember reading (maybe on Cool Clarity back in the day) that Busted's debut album had sold over 900k but hadn't sold a million. Considering the...erm..."quality" of their musical output, one begs the question; how?!!! :D

^ I thought it had shifted closer to 1.5m!

To be honest, given the healthy sales climate in 2003-4, I can believe both sold 900k. 'Present for Everyone' must have sold loads before Christmas and the debut was in and out of the top 10 for ages.

Well Cool Clarity came to an abrupt end in early 2006 so it's had a good 5 years then to sell another 600k. :lol: Apart from 'Year 3000', I really didn't get the big deal with Busted whatsoever. I always thought McFly were musically far superior. ** shrugs **

Haha, I doubt it did! I'm probably totally wrong about 1.5m - I'm pretty sure it did over 1m though (it was over 900k in Jan 2004).

Their albums are truly amazing! I was/am a massive fan of Busted. You could clearly tell their influence was blink-182, but more commercialised and made for mainstream success. I can't quite tell you how I love the albums and their music as I will be slightly biased, so I hope someone who is more reasonable can answer your question truthfully :P (and not just by those who say "It's $h!t!" even though they clearly haven't heard it or whatever :lol:)

Busted will always >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> McFly for me.

Although;

1st Album McFly ('Not Alone' :wub:) >>>>>>>>>>> 2nd Album >> 3rd Album >>>> 5th Album (Not sure about Radio:Active as I haven't heard it tbh. Bar the singles - which were meh)

Fair enough, I'm not expecting everyone to dislike Busted. I always thought their lyrics were horrendously bad which, for me, made their music more shoddy and crap.

Tracks like 'What I Go To School For', 'Who's David?' and 'Air Hostess' for me define the word crap. Then there was that tragic Son Of Dork group!!! :wacko:

The only good thing to emerge from Busted was Matt Willis' solo career (now he did release some good tracks imo) and to a lesser extent Fightstar.

@jonjo & Hits

I don't think i'm any less biased than Jonjo because like most people I know, I own both of there albums and loved them. :D

I preferred them infinately to McFly when they were around. :thumbup:

I suppose, most people probably thought they were being grown up by listening to them (singing about dropping a pencil on a floor and seeing 'more' of Miss MacKenzie :lol:) but it really helped that there singles were REALLY catchy!

What I Go To School For

Year 3000

You Said No

Sleeping With The Light On

Air Hostess

Crashed The Wedding

Who's David?

Thunderbirds/3AM

All 10/10 singles for me and I still listen to ALL of them bar 3AM regularly! I dunno, lots of memories lie with them and whilst like thousands were like more distraught when Busted broke up as when Steps did... They probably broke up at the right time. IMO, it gave them the opportunity to fade away before releasing tripe. :P

I really liked the whole two Son Of Dork singles! Both were better than 3AM for me, same goes for all of Matt's singles. Fightstar are clearly hit and miss with me as Charlie went in a COMPLETELY different direction, Mercury Summer was great though. :thumbup: Shame James was responsible fot 10,000 Friends by Oghaan Quigg though... :ph34r:

Seconded. 'Don't Let It Go To Waste', 'Hey Kid', 'Goodbye Lucy' and 'Crash' are all great tunes. :D

You missed out the most important one; 'Up All Night'. :P
