I quote myself from a couple of pages ago:

Sabrina was saying essentially the same thing.

So that would mean it would have 'underperformed' in your views?

If anybody cares, the music video for I Need a Doctor will be getting premiered soon!!! :w00t:

And I hope Skylar is actually in this video!! She needs more recognition!!

So that would mean it would have 'underperformed' in your views?

Yes, that's my point.

There's a difference between a song flopping and a song doing less well than excpected. I could 'expect', say, The Wanted's Comic Relief single to open with 500,000 sales. Then if it opened up with 150,000 sales it wouldn't come close to my expectations but it still doesn't come close to being a flop.

"A song doing less well than excpected" is the definition of underperforming. And the ones with the highest expectations were her fans who were expecting it to be the biggest comeback of all time. So they're the ones to blame if people say it's underperforming in the UK now.

SHUT. UP.

For Christ's sake, just shut up! Some of us couldn't give a rats ass about Lady Gaga's new song! Discuss it in HER forum.

Oh my gosh! :o Kanye West is #39!! I don't think it can make top 40 this week, but if it can hold on for while/climb, hopefully it can get in the week after!!! I'll be so thrilled if it does!!

Also, Black and Yellow up to #46! Very promising for when the proper version is released!

:arrr: @ Bieber going ahead of Clare, but then again it's to be expected given the music taste in this country...

...but YOU'RE the one saying it's underperforming, not them? If you didn't have those expectations, why are you claiming it's underperforming even though you don't think it is, just because a bunch of deluded GaGa fans (a minority) think it is?

I think it's more due to Clare's lack of exposure and Bieber's target audience being more likely to download than Clare's. Clare is ahead in the midweeks and is extremely unlikely to be overtaken by Bieber before the end of the week.

You shouldn't blame the entire country, you should blame Bieber's legions of annoying fans. They should be blamed for everything.

Saying Gaga has flopped is ridiculous. If flopping is selling over 130k after being released for two weeks, then I am sure loads of artists would love to flop. I think that 'underperforming' fits it better, I think people are shocked at how fast it is falling, due to its massive sales at the beginning but the fact is that all the major Gaga fans have got it now and it can't hold that original fan sales forever. I do think its dip in sales are suprising though but only because I was so shocked at how well it did on its first week of release - its like she can't win. I can see this in the long run, selling over 600k, similar to BEP's 'The Time' but without going to #1. It wont be her biggest seller ever but we all know that Gaga is the one artist who benifits most from her videos, just look at the boost that 'Bad Romance' & 'Telephone' got. I dont think it will get AS MUCH of a boost as them but should majorly help it out. At least wait until the video is out until you brand it a 'flop' if it doesn't really improve this for her. Plus, if you should be moaning about any 'big star' flopping, it should be Britney!

Deal. Now explain Hurts flopping (given that they're AMAZING).

Jessie is now 73.2% of Adele combined then (slightly more if you combine the acoustic version of PT at #95), up 6.1% from the last update - gaining a bit faster now she's #1 so the pop bars of both of Adele's versions are receding. Looks like Jessie might be ahead even when Adele is combined by Sunday, although still, Adele was 70% ahead officially yesterday and since she's still ahead that lead will continue to get bigger until Jessie overtakes combined (or earlier/later depending on how Jessie and Adele are doing on other download sites obviously) so whenever Jessie overtakes she'll need to get really really far ahead to make up the deficit officially. Adele seems a lock for a second week at #1.

Again I'd say that was mostly down to lack of exposure, I don't recall WL ever getting much airplay besides R1 and it definitely didn't get much video play. I think they would have done better singles-wise if they'd actually released something a bit earlier when there was still some Sound Of... hype - I think Clare might be doing even worse than she already is if TLD was released a few months later.

What I don't get is how WL did so much better than BTL which I personally think was a much better song. :(

Jessie's definitely closing in- not enough to get number 1 this week, but could challenge next week

Don't be surprised if Adele gets some UK TV exposure late next week. AFAIK she's back from her US promo end of the month and i'm sure there will be talk/tv shows begging her to perform SLY. Time will tell.

Even Britney, I wouldn't say has "flopped". It has underperformed though. :( I'd even say Born This Way has underperformed so far. However, both have accomplished big things. Considering the artists, it's not too surprising, but it's big nonetheless. What they've done is what artists dream of. Tinie Tempah said in an interview that it's his dream to get to #1 on Billboard (hence why he idolizes Jay Sean), so it's kind of insulting to call songs that do accomplish that "flops".

About Hurts, I agree that they need to be appreciated here more. :( I don't think that's the fault of our country's poor music taste though. At the end of the day, their songs are good, and I'm sure if people actually heard them, they'd be buying them.

I hope Kanye is still climbing. I heard in the news today that the video might get pulled off youtube due to fears it might cause fits to epileptics. It did hurt my eyes at the beginning and the end to be fair, but they could just put a warning before the video stats imo. And there could be a "TV edit" so it can get played safely on the TV.

I'm pretty sure that Adele has done enough to be at No1 come Sunday. GaGa's new video will be released on Monday hopefully!!!

And don't forget Jessie's album is out next week, the album version of PT will be cherry picked, so there be another version of PT on iTunes. :D

On a separate note.

Its funny though, for the past few weeks its been Adele and Jessie J in the top 3 practically. I don't think Jessie J has dropped out of the top 3 since the track debuted. PT should hover in the top 3 for a few weeks to come yet.
