February 23, 201115 yr I see they've playlisted Someone Like You - I hope XL aren't stupid enough to push it as a single, it's already a #1, they need to move onto Set Fire To The Rain ASAP. Anyway, most of those new additions are good - apart from Bieber ofc :puke: Good to see R1 still supporting BEP although I haven't heard their new song VERY surprised they're still supporting N-Dubz, I thought they might have dropped off the 'guaranteed playlist' radar by now for some reason. February 23, 201115 yr Oh how typical of radio 1 to get rid of Britney because her (rather disappointing) comeback has underperformed.
February 23, 201115 yr Author I think the new adds are really bland this week. Last week wasn't much better but at least Nicole was there
February 23, 201115 yr I see they've playlisted Someone Like You - I hope XL aren't stupid enough to push it as a single, it's already a #1, they need to move onto Set Fire To The Rain ASAP. ?!?!? Where's the logic in them killing off a single that clearly has a load of potential, and moving onto something that might well have a lot less potential?!
February 23, 201115 yr Wow! LOADS of awesome new additions there!!!! Especially Katy B, Adele, Skepta, N-Dubz and of course the Black Eyed Peas!!!!! :cheer: I also agree 100% with Bray. Releasing Someone Like You as a single will be a total waste tbh. What will releasing it as a single do? Get all the radio stations to playlist it? Oh, wait, they're all playing it already. Even Radio 1 have just done so. A music video? I think the BRITs performance would be than adequate as the official video, if they can get to use it. She's got other great songs on her album. I really don't think releasing Someone Like You as a single will squeeze many more sales out of it tbh. Edited February 23, 201115 yr by Eric_Blob
February 23, 201115 yr How is releasing SLY a total waste? They should milk it as much as they can because it's clearly a song people like and can relate to. And it'll sell $h!tloads of albums And the next single will of course sell the album even more. It won't, however, do as well on charts as SLY. There are millions of people who haven't even heard SLY yet "Bland additions" when there are new singles by Foo Fighters, Adele and White Lies...only on Buzzjack :P Edited February 23, 201115 yr by SKOB
February 23, 201115 yr Great to see Ellie, James, Nicole, Wiz, Rihanna, Naked & The Famous and of course my two obsessions Adele and Gaga (  ) doing so well! ^_^
February 23, 201115 yr great to see Gaga A-Listed, and Ellie, Foo Fighters and Fleet Foxes B-listed, hopefully that will help them all :D

I think the BRITs performance would be than adequate as the official video, if they can get to use it. Get hundreds of thousands more album sales? Someone Like You has only been getting any kind of significant exposure for a week; the fact that, in spite of that, it's still got to #1, shows how much potential it has. It would be the most crazy decision in modern chart history if the label just canned it and moved onto another single  Imagine if, this time last year, Alicia Keys' label had ordered all stations to stop playing Empire State of Mind II and ordered them to start playing Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart instead - it would've been insane to trade in what is now her signature hit for merely a moderate hit, just because it went against their original plans.
February 23, 201115 yr ?!?!? Where's the logic in them killing off a single that clearly has a load of potential, and moving onto something that might well have a lot less potential?! It can't have much more potential than already going to #1 with 111,000 sales and looking set for a second week with high sales. There's no point in putting out a song that's already massive (especially when she has another massive song still in the charts and a third a bit lower down). It'd make far more sense to push another song which has also shown potential, it went top 100 on iTunes after 21's release, then she'll have 4 big songs in the chart at the same time which will add even more to her already massive sales for both of her albums. Releasing SLY properly will be a huge waste on her label's behalf. Also SLY will get airplay regardless of whether it's a single or not, so why not have another song getting airplay at the same time? People hearing more different songs from an album will give them more incentive to buy the album and album sales matter far far more than single sales. Edited February 23, 201115 yr by Bray
February 23, 201115 yr It can't have much more potential than already going to #1 with 111,000 sales and looking set for a second week with high sales. There's no point in putting out a song that's already massive (especially when she has another massive song still in the charts and a third a bit lower down). But it's not like 111K, while good, is earth-shatteringly huge, or that the Brits was watched by an X Factor-size audience - there's still plenty of musically-interested people out there who haven't even HEARD Someone Like You. But the sales for the single so far (and the increased sales for the album) show it's connected with a stunningly huge proportion of the relatively small number of people who've heard it - meaning that there's an awful lot of potential to be picked at if they properly promote it and get it heard by the wider audience. If they sent out another single now, it would just mean stations splitting airplay between Someone Like You and the other track, meaning they'd end up with just two moderate hits - whereas, if they let both have a full campaign, they'd have one huge hit in SLY and potentially another huge hit down the track (though, I haven't heard any other of Adele's album, but I personally doubt there's anything else with as much commercial potential as SLY). It just wouldn't make business sense. And, as far as I know, it's not like she's due to release another album at the end of the year or anything - there's nothing stopping the label stretching out this album's campaign and its singles into spring/summer 2012 if they want to - so why rush out a third single within a couple of months of the album's release?

People hearing more different songs from an album will give them more incentive to buy the album and album sales matter far far more than single sales. Why can't it? It's had hardly any airplay up until now and will probably have sold over 200,000 in its last 2 weeks come Sunday. It's now B-listed on Radio 1 so I don't quite get why you think that's going to be the end of its sales?
February 23, 201115 yr Author "Bland additions" when there are new singles by Foo Fighters, Adele and White Lies...only on Buzzjack :P Uber bland. SLY I like, but generally I don't rate Adele. The others I dont like / or haven't heard. Maybe Above & Beyond might save it for me :P
February 23, 201115 yr Had a feeling Britneys removal wouldnt go down to well. Suprised somewhat though, I realise the video hasnt quite been the kick up the arse it needed but I'd have given it another week at least. Regarding Adele - Someone Like You, I think theres still plenty of steem left to keep the track as the forefront of the campaign for a good few weeks yet. Certainly I think they should wait a good while yet before pushing 'Set Fire To The Rain' out there.
February 23, 201115 yr Never Say Never ? The song has been out for months.. The video was uploaded to youtube 9 months ago
February 23, 201115 yr Author SLY being pushed as a single might keep the album selling a lot longer. The song just connected with most people, even those who generally don't like her stuff, and maybe just maybe they'll be swayed to buy the album - which is the ultimate goal. Radio and TV play should ensure that.
