March 3, 201115 yr Author The album chart looks like a ghost town, come on Clare push Rihanna one more place pretty please :teresa:
March 3, 201115 yr Awesome to see Jessie J getting her 3rd top 40 hit!! :D I'm still hoping Down on Me and Black and Yellow can climb in. Otherwize not really anything else to look forward too... The only other thing that interests me this week other than the three songs mentioned above is whether Singing in the Rain/Umbrella can stay in the top 40 another week. I think it can, but we'll have to see! Edited March 3, 201115 yr by Eric_Blob

I think it can, but we'll have to see! Black And Yellow is now up to #23 on iTunes, not sure why it's taken off so much in the last 2 days or so (before that it was low top 50 for quite a while). It should make the top 40. Looking forward to Reggie's reaction if it does...

It should make the top 40. Looking forward to Reggie's reaction if it does... lol. Why? Does he not like the song or something? Or do you mean he'll be really confused? I remember that he introduced that We No Speak Americano remix that charted quite well to be fair. He explained that the proper version hadn't been released yet, but due to such high demand, some people were downloading alternate versions in the mean-time, which is basically the same as this situation. So he might do it okay this time, but we never know with him. :drama:

He'll probably realise it's an opportunistic cover as he did with the fake versions of When Love Takes Over and We No Speak Americano that went top 40, but still.
March 3, 201115 yr Author Loving the top 10 at the moment, top 6 all non movers and 3 acts with two tracks apiece.... Chris Brown, Adele, and Jessie. All it needs is David Guetta a push inside the top 10 and Rihanna will have another track in the top 10 -_-

March 3, 201115 yr Good to see Lady Gaga going back up i hope she keeps it up, likewise happy kylie is still top 12 and take that back in the top 20 albums, im liking todays update!
March 3, 201115 yr To be honest, this whole year so far has been largely dominated by a few artists. Like I think Jessie J and Adele both have two songs in the YTD singles top 5! :drama: The songs are okay though. Edited March 3, 201115 yr by Eric_Blob

Like I think Jessie J and Adele both have two songs in the YTD singles top 5! :drama: The songs are okay though. Exactly its just those 2 artists at the moment there is nothing else on the horizon apart from the Comic Relief single coming up, don't get me wrong, I like Adele, and not so much Jessie, but there is nothing else out there. The big question, where is the good music, I know we have Clare Maguire, she is fresh and new, but surely there must be other acts out there. Its all Americanised at the moment, Kanye West has practically got most of the american acts all on one track ;) ha Now I'm rambling... :(

Its all Americanised at the moment, Kanye West has practically got most of the american acts all on one track ;) ha Now I'm rambling... :( It's a shame Kanye probably won't make the top 40 though. :( To be fair, I think there is a lot of good music in the chart at the moment, it's just not in the top 10!!! At the moment I'm full-on loving I Need a Doctor, C'mon, Wonderman, Moment 4 Life and Black and Yellow. C'mon is doing terrifically on iTunes though, so that might be in with a chance. Fingers crossed! Even in the top 10, I like Rolling in the Deep, S&M, Someone Like You, Price Tag and Good Girl, but I've got a feeling they're going to long outstay their welcome in the top 10, the way things are going (see: Grenade). :( I think the music is good (better than this time last year), just certain songs clogging up the top of the chart for ages! It's okay if it's just one or two songs that stay there for ages (especially when I really like them ), but the whole thing seems to be quite static, to the point that I'm more interested at what is going to make top 40. Although we have had a few great chart battles the past few weeks!

Don't forget Wiz Khalifa next week... then in the even more distant future there's new stuff from J-Ho, Britney, Katy B, Wretch 32, Chipmunk, Nicole Scherzinger, Willow Smith. Things aren't drying up completely and I'm sure most of those will go top 10 at least. Plus, whatever comes along to surprise. March is nowhere near as dead as February, which was a terribly dull month in terms of new releases. Just imagine how much more dull it would have been if Adele didn't perform at the BRITs, and Lady Gaga didn't release her single early here. I still think the deadness in February had a lot to do with the on air, on sale scheme though even if nobody else agrees with me. And the chart is always going to be Americanised, especially as long as the kind of music doing well stays as it currently is - think you have to get used to it. It's nowhere near as bad as it has been at other times anyway. At least we have two British acts dominating the British music scene at the moment. When was the last time we could really say that? And what is good music is all opinion anyway - I'm sure there's at least one person out there who thinks the charts have never been better than they are now.
March 3, 201115 yr But then Jessie would only have one. I wonder, if the top 10 remains the same, could this be the first time ever there are 3 artists with 2 top 10 entries at the same time? I'm ploughing through the charts of the 1950s which is probably the most likely time. On 7 Nov 1953, Frankie Laine had four singles in the top ten and Guy Mitchell had two.

I still think the deadness in February had a lot to do with the on air, on sale scheme though even if nobody else agrees with me. I think you do have a point with this. When you can't front-load songs, lots of them will miss out on the top 10. Those songs we were having this time last year, such as The Way Love Goes by Lemar, On a Mission by Gabriella Cilmi, Dancing On My Own by Robyn, Impossible by Shontelle, etc. I'm pretty sure none of these would've made top 10 if they did the on-air/on-sale thing. They'd've probably peaked at #15 or something and spent 8 weeks in the top 40 or whatever. You'd probably get less random songs going top 10, because if you put them up for sale at the same time as the airplay starts, it's more difficult to give these songs a high sales week, and get them top 10. what's my name has fallen a lot from 17 to 27 Yeah, it has! It's weird with that aswell, because the week after the BRITs you would've thought it'd climb, but it fell, then climbed the week after! And now it's almost being out-sold by Only Girl! :o Edited March 3, 201115 yr by Eric_Blob
