March 1, 201115 yr Author Breakage top 30 (can I have an exact position for that please?) 12+12 I didn't see this, among your long winded post :P
March 1, 201115 yr 18k ahead? Looks like yet another week at #1 for 21  Price Tag and SLY looking at 3 consecutive weeks as the top 2 :o Could be 4 next week too :o Price Tag's run could be something like this: 1-1-2-2-2-2-? I can see this outselling Grenade....
March 1, 201115 yr Very pleased Adele should make 6 weeks at the top - this reminds me of when Dido was at #1 for 6 weeks in Feb/Mar 01. This is the last time I can remember a British famale solo artist doing this week in the first quarter of the year!
March 1, 201115 yr Disappointed that Kanye West/Rihanna, Jeremiah/50 Cent, Lupe Fiasco, Jessie J and The Hype Squad aren't in the top 40 yet. :( Hopefully they'll climb in during the week!
March 1, 201115 yr Mothers Day is coming up, my guess Adele's album will increase. I was thinking about this earlier, the album could stay at #1 for another month or 2, there isn't anything big to come till Gaga releases, you could easily get a #1 album on sales of 40k or even less at the moment, if Adele trails of after another month at the top. She could easily do over 1,5 million by the end of May at this rate. Her album sales are just astounding at the moment. Has an album sold over 2 million in just under a year, as Adele could actually do it before the end of the year, if she keeps on breaking records. Take That's Progress is incredibly close to hitting the 2 million mark and that was released in November. It'll be interesting to see who will hit the 2 million mark the quickest - Take That or Adele
March 1, 201115 yr I'm stunned and pleased Adele is holding off Jessie J! :cheer: Have you seen her US Billboard first week sales for 21?, over 350K !!
March 1, 201115 yr Hope things stay as they are with Adele doing chart double. Even though Jessie is brilliant, she's doing the double #2, imagine if Adele wasnt out it'd be Jessie doing the chart doubles and the main artist of the moment. She is one of them obviously, just Adele is ahead of everyone right now.
March 1, 201115 yr I think Avril may even miss the top 10 with her new album... Two words. Christina Aguilera. Clearly Avril won't make #1, but she'll almost definately go Top 10 I'd say... Same label, limited success with single, prior selling albums being big. She'll do fine for the first week anyway... I think! :)
March 1, 201115 yr Yes I agree with Avril most probably still being able to get a reasonable posistion. Her days of #1 albums are behind her of course but she should hit the top 10 if not top 5 with relative ease I'd say. 'What The Hell' has hung around the top 40 for a nice lengthy period considering it's lowly peak. Will it go all 'Bionic' on her? Probably, though hopefully the second week drop wont be quite as 'hiding under rock for the next 16 years' embarassement.
March 1, 201115 yr Is it weird that the more Adele gets hyped up the less I love her? :( No, this happens with pretty much every artist. Whenever they get hyped up, everybody starts hating them (see: Susan Boyle, Cheryl Cole, etc. And it's happening to Adele, Rihanna and Lady Gaga at the moment right before our very eyes).
March 1, 201115 yr Is it weird that the more Adele gets hyped up the less I love her? :( no, I'm starting to get bored of her too :( same happened with Rihanna
March 1, 201115 yr A lot of people hate on successful and popular people, unfortunately, its the way it is, they are easily targeted by the masses for simply being popular and successful, a shame really. -_- So when is the next big album coming out, any in March? Edited March 1, 201115 yr by Karma
March 1, 201115 yr as has been said, Elbow next week should get number 1 or if not definitely top 3 Edited March 1, 201115 yr by chart wizard
March 1, 201115 yr My guess (and hope) is that Elbow will get number one next week. Adele could well regain top spot the following week.
March 1, 201115 yr A lot of people hate on successful and popular people, unfortunately, its the way it is, they are easily targeted by the masses for simply being popular and successful, a shame really. -_- Yeah, basically this. Not so much the successful thing, but definitely the popular thing. I think artists can be successful and not be hated. Like the Black Eyed Peas in 2009. They had a massive year, but they didn't really get any mass hatred, and I think the reason for this is the BEPs sold a lot, but they didn't have many people (apart from me ) going around saying things like "They've revolutionized pop music", "They're the best vocalists in the world", "They've made the best "hip pop" songs in 20 years", "They've single-handedly invented a new genre", etc. However, you do hear statements like this in reference to the likes of Lady Gaga and Adele, so the people who don't think they're that amazing start to get annoyed and hate them. But artists like the Black Eyed Peas, Taio Cruz, etc, whilst they might sell a LOT of singles, they don't really get that critical acclaim, so the people that don't think they're that amazing can just live well. That's just my theory anyway. Even if Adele was at #1 and selling as much as she is now, if people weren't going around saying things like "She's the best singer in the world now", "She's the only person in the charts releasing PROPER music", if it weren't for the statements like that, I don't think people would be annoyed by her.
March 1, 201115 yr Two words. Christina Aguilera. Clearly Avril won't make #1, but she'll almost definately go Top 10 I'd say... Same label, limited success with single, prior selling albums being big. She'll do fine for the first week anyway... I think! :) But Bionic only sold 24K first week - and next week looks so tough, I really don't know if 24K would be enough for Avril to even go top 5... new albums from Elbow, REM, Pet Shop Boys and Kanye/Jay-Z, plus Jessie J should have a decent second-week tally and then there's Adele of course... My prediction for Avril is #7/8, followed by a quick decline... I think she's pretty much "done" tbh. She really needed to show her sound had evolved with this album and, judging by the first single, she just hasn't done it. In this industry, you can't release exactly the same type of album that you did 10 years previously and expect to still be relevant.
March 1, 201115 yr Hope SLY can hold on for this and next week, it would be nice to have a song number one for four weeks, The Fear seems ages ago.
