March 13, 201114 yr Have you sent reminders yet? Otherwise there looks like there could be a lot of point deductions, the more the better! :kink:
March 13, 201114 yr Author 27 hours, 18 votes still to come Who wins, you decide? A snippet of info for you: there are still one or more songs yet to score :o
March 13, 201114 yr Author Have you sent reminders yet? Otherwise there looks like there could be a lot of point deductions, the more the better! :kink: Yes I did, at about 8am this morning - to the then 22 countries still left to vote, I've had about six in during today. People really do leave this until the last minute don't they!

People really do leave this until the last minute don't they! Okay :) Perhaps people have put this to the back of their mind's as you gave them 2 weeks to vote? I know I did. Surprised that Kopecka and Ashton still have to vote! :o
March 13, 201114 yr Author Okay :) Perhaps people have put this to the back of their mind's as you gave them 2 weeks to vote? I know I did. Surprised that Kopecka and Ashton still have to vote! :o :( I thought people would appreciate the longer voting window, gives you more time to get to know and appreciate the songs. If I'd done a week people would be moaning that they didn't have enough time/been out/on holiday/feeding the cat as they always do :drama: The reason it was two weeks is because I had to allow for the potential for semis coming back, which didn't happen in the end, which would have needed a weeks voting - and then a week for the final. And I couldn't do it to any other time frame/dates because I was busy. It takes a lot to prep this, I can't just roll in from work on Tuesday evening and start the results, there's bound to be something that will go wrong, or some calculation error that I notice at the last minute. Hence why there's a strict deadline of 11.59pm tomorrow, I don't have the time on Tuesday afternoon/night to sort out late/unaccounted for things.
March 13, 201114 yr I'm voting tomorrow, no problems. The quality isn't sounding that great at the minute though :(

The logic makes senses, but sometimes it just doesn't work like that. :( I agree, a week is too short, how long is the voting window normally open for? Maybe you could have extended it for the semis instead of locating the time it would have taken to extra voting time? But most importantly, it's got to be when the host can do it, so if you weren't able to do it at other times then that's fine :)

But most importantly, it's got to be when the host can do it, so if you weren't able to do it at other times then that's fine :) Anything between 1-2 weeks, 10-12 days usually I guess. But indeed I didn't have any other dates spare to host it that I could guarantee I'd be able to sit at home in front of the computer for a number of hours (apart from yesterday but I wasn't about to miss Melodifestivalen!) to host it so it had to be a longer window. Work takes up the majority of my time, BJSC had to fit in!
March 13, 201114 yr Surprised that Kopecka and Ashton still have to vote! :o And why exactly would you be surprised? Neither of us are known for being prompt with our votes. Rich came to me with those dates, and I approved them instantly. It is entirely up to the host when they would like to set the deadline and as long as there is a week's gap between contests at the very least then the mods will probably never have an issue with the dates of a contest. This is a non-issue And anyway, what would you know about it sometimes not working like that? Noob
March 13, 201114 yr And why exactly would you be surprised? Neither of us are known for being prompt with our votes. I thought that you might have forgotten to vote, and as you are both enthuasiasts of BJSC, I found that surprising. You wanna dial it back a notch or 80. Rich came to me with those dates, and I approved them instantly. This is a non-issue And anyway, what would you know about it sometimes not working like that? Noob What? I'm not complaining, just saying that alot of people had left it late/forgotten to vote and Rich was wondering that too. So I said that it might be because of an extended voting window, I wasn't saying 'Oh no, you left it far too late, those dates were pretty crap :manson: ' I'm fine with the dates, and always have been. It never was an issue, and that term applies to everyday life: logically it worked, but practically it didn't go according to plan, and I'm no 'expert' on BJSC before you catch me up on that. I'm not sure why you get such a negative vibe from my posts?
March 13, 201114 yr Author just saying that alot of people had left it late/forgotten to vote and Rich was wondering that too. It's no real surprise to me to be honest, but it does start to worry you when you get to 24 hours to go and haven't even got 50% of the votes in yet. But you could give people two hours/two days/two weeks or two months to vote in BJSC and 50% of people would leave it until the dying seconds, it's always been this way  Makes prep a bit harder so that's why I never have the deadline half an hour before the live results are going to start - I tried that in BJSCV and ended the evening more stressed than I'd ever been before in my life (in internet terms) - trying to add up the results as you go along does not work if you want to remain sane! Thank god I got more competent at hosting!
March 14, 201114 yr Author Final day of voting everyone, 17 hours left and 14 votes still to come in, it's interesting seeing the way that the results are shaping up so far :o
March 14, 201114 yr Round of applause for Tom! Don't act like you've never done it before :P I was going to delete it, but I thought it would be better to leave it there as testament to my stupidity. ANYHOOO, voted last night. I actually preferred the first half in terms of consistent listening experience, but I found more amazing songs in the second half...

March 14, 201114 yr There's one track where the start is stone cold 0/10 material, then in almost an instant it explodes into solid gold 9/10
March 14, 201114 yr Will get round to voting soon. Just a few more songs to listen to. Edit: And voted!
