Glad Noah and the Whale are finally top 20! :D

Yep! :D I knew that the album release week would affect them so much.

Hopefully Wiz climbs into the top 5 tomorrow :)

At least this week the #1 has matched Lily's Allen's 4 week run at #1 (2009), waited 2 years and 2 weeks for another 4 weeker, let's hope we get a couple of more singles spending a long time at #1 later in the year. 5 weeks for Adele will be sufficient, after that Adele needs to budge. I'm already getting bored with the track now.

If Adele did not perform on the Brits, Jessie J would have had a 6 week run at #1.

Looks like the on air on sale approach has and will slow things down again, but not to the deathly boring extent that everything was slowed down to in 2008 where everything filtered down 1 or 2 places a week and spent 15 weeks in the top 40

Definitely very glad Adele came along and got #1.

But on the other hand, one 4-weeker every 2 years is more than enough for me! :drama:

Yeah, well that was inevitable tbh. But I don't think we're going to see #1s like Dirtee Disco ever again now.

Although, doing it this way, songs like Airplanes, OMG, Ridin' Solo and Love the Way You Lie would've probably all got to #1 and had longer runs there, so I can't complain too much.

I did say Jessie J had the makings of a long run at #1 when it first hit the chart, until Adele came along and put a spanner in the works, I guess no one saw Adele coming.

I would've prefered Price Tag with 6 weeks tbh.

I wouldn't. I think it's a better song, but that's just far too long. I know this wouldn't have worked, but I would've preferred something like Price Tag one week, Champion one week, Born This Way one week, Someone Like You two weeks, Black and Yellow one week and then The Wanted one week.

As expected, Dog Days Are Over doesn't make the top 40. I think Hey, Soul Sister will cling on though. Marry You is out of the top 40 too. :(

So many one weeks = boring.

It would've been special to have a 6 week #1....the longest stay at #1 since Bleeding Love.

Didn't Bleeding Love keep Rule the World from #1 though? That's exactly what I hate about songs spending ages at #1, some really good songs miss out. I saw one chart where there were only like 6 #1s in the year, and each of them spent like 10 weeks at #1. I would hate that, even if they were songs I liked.

EDIT: European Hot 100 in 2002 it was, I think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Europ...ne_hits_of_2002

Kylie #1 for 3 weeks, Robbie and Nicole for 2 weeks, Pink for 4 weeks, then Shakira for 13 weeks, Eminem for 15 weeks, and to finish it off, The Ketchup Song for 17 weeks. No thanks. I think 4 weeks at #1 in unbearable!!

And if those #1s happened this year, not only would I be whining, but I think everybody else here would've been whining constantly during those 6 months (June to December) where Without Me and The Ketchup Song were #1... It's not too bad when it's songs everybody likes (like Price Tag and Someone Like You), but when it's gimmicky songs by artists lots of people hate!!!

I'm sure he will (well by Sunday's official chart). The gap between #5-#9 (Chris-Bruno) yesterday prior to Wiz climbing in I'd suspect would have been very small given all of them have been bunched right next to each other on iTunes ever since Sunday. So I'd suspect he's only marginally behind Chris right now and given he's outselling him on iTunes by about 30%? at the moment, even when he starts dropping for the weekend effect he should still have enough steam (just) to finish the week @ #5 and mean Chris misses the top 5 by a place for the Xth? week.

I would've prefered Price Tag with 6 weeks tbh.

Me too. a 6 weeker would have been nice, the last time we got one of those was Leona Lewis in 2007 IIRC (7 weeks) so once every 3-4 years is ok in my book, its not like it happens every day.

Yes it did. It's Take That's management's fault - they should have released RTW a week earlier. :P

Can't blame RTW not getting to #1 on BL Eric ;)

Do you think we'll ever have a non-No1 hit be the biggest seller of the year again?

No. I actually think Someone Like You will get year-end #1 this year. I know it's early days, but it's literally unstoppable. I think it'll sell 1 million before year-end aswell!

I think it'll be between SLY, PT and Grenade depending on which of that lot receives the most ongoing airplay throughout the year.

I think that will end up discounting SLY from the running, which will leave it between PT and Grenade. Somehow I can see PT snatching it out of the three above.

All 3 will probably sell 1 million, or close to it, by the end of the year which really only leaves the X Factor winner or something extraordinary which would top them.

Perhaps. Although Someone Like You is probably going to be performed in every episode of the X Factor this year.

As long as it's not Grenade that gets it!!
