Just think. if Adele hadn't performed at the Brits we could be looking at Price Tag for a 6th week at #1 this week! Thank God for Adele!!

I dread to think!! :o Well, Price Tag is a better song, but I don't think I could physically cope with a song beint #1 for 6 weeks! :drama:

If there's a song that deserves to be #1 for 6 weeks it's Good Girl from Alexis Jordan

I think I might've just about been able to tolerate a 6-weeker if it was Coming Home! But other than that I'd probably be pulling my hair out.

Adele could of been a six weeker if it wasn't for The Wanted - I predict the next few weeks no.1s

13 March - ADELE "Someone Like You" (this Sunday)

20 March - The Wanted "Gold Forever"

27 March - The Wanted "Gold Forever"

03 April - Jennifer Lopez ft Pitbull "On The Floor"

10 April - Jennifer Lopez ft Pitbull "On The Floor"

17 April - Jennifer Lopez ft Pitbull "On The Floor" (I'd love for "Hey (Nah Neh Nah)" to get it but it has next to no chance)

24 April - Jennifer Lopez ft Pitbull "On The Floor" (Seriously, nothing apart from the new Wretch 32 track is out that week, hopefully W32 won't be big) (My predictions probably wrong, and some climber will probs get it - but Jenny for 2 weeks at number one at least. She's going to be big)

Susan Boyle/Peter Kay will no doubt get at least a week...

Susan Boyle and Peter Kay will get it that week- I'm pretty sure

even in 2009, when the CIN medley did nothing on itunes, it walked to number 1 and sold over 100k each week- I can't see this not doing the same

You probably right... but I hope they don't. I can already see people giving it minus points in the 2011 rate at the end of the year. There's no football song this year and The X Factor songs don't do too badly. I haven't heard the Susan & Peter song but I can tell it will be awful

I hope Wretch 32 DOES get to #1. It's brilliant and has much more pop appeal than Traktor, so I could see it happening. Plus, it would give the lovely Example his first #1 too! :D

J-Lo definitely won't be #1 for four weeks. It's being deliberately front-loaded, which kinda rules that out for a start, and I doubt it will sell that much. In fact, I see it selling below the average even if it does get to #1 on that week. New things will arrive, so I wouldn't fancy looking beyond March anyway...

I wouldn't rule out Hey (Nah Neh Nah) getting to #1. There was (is?) a fake version top 300.

I think JLo will get at least 1 or 2 weeks at #1 but I'm sure something else will crop up before it gets to 4 weeks  Maybe not

I hope Unorthodox can get to #1 but I reckon it'll only get to 3 or 4 :(

If it does get to #1 I think it'll be the first ever #1 in either chart with anything to do with The Stone Roses - both the band itself and Ian Brown solo had several top 10s in both charts but never any #1s. (Unorthodox samples Fools Gold)

I really liked the Children in Need medley from 2009, so if it's anything like that, it'll be great. Seriously, that medley is the sort of thing Glee Cast should be trying to release imo. Susan Boyle was a national hate figure back in the day though. Although hopefully people's opinions on her have died down enough for the song to be successful (if it's good, although even if it's bad, I don't really want The Wanted at #1 for 2 weeks anyway).

I would love On the Floor to get a #1. It's BRILLIANT. Really incredible. Exactly the type of music that I would love 2011 to be remembered for. :) Still not sure if it'll get #1 though.

Hey (Nah Neh Nah) will definitely be big as it's already started getting airplay on some pop radio stations. I think Radio 1 will inevitably playlist it next week. Don't see it doing a Stromae, that's for sure, but I doubt it'll do a Yolanda Be Cool either. I'd go for top 5.

There's always a chance of Susan Boyle/Peter Kay really catching the public's imagination and doing an Amarillo. Probably not likely though as charity singles tend not to lend themselves very well in the download era. Amarillo did do VERY well on downloads though, but that was before they took off so hugely, too. It can't be any worse than the 2007 and 2009 "comedy" singles anyway

And yes, that's true, but not really a shocking stat - The Stone Roses were always more critically acclaimed than commercially successful. I do think Wretch 32 can get #1. I was right about Traktor not being quite as big as some predicted but I have a much better feeling about this one as it has the pop appeal that Traktor sorely lacked - mainly thanks to Example singing the hook.

EDIT: I just realised my post before this one in this thread was my 5,000th! :drama: Yay me.

I hope Unorthodox can do well. Even better than Traktor! We'll have to see though.

Also, a radio station I listen to has playlisted a song by Wretch 32 called Anniversary. I don't know what that's all about...

I think it will be hilarious! I know a lot of people hate comedy songs for charity, but I personally love them, their fun, humourous (although Islands In The Stream wasn't really funny :( )and for a good cause- I'll probably buy this one myself

and superbossanova- as I said above, Peter Kays CIN medley and Islands In The Stream did nothing on itunes, yet they still went to number 1 with strong sales- Peter Kay even held off Rihanna who depsite having a huge lead on itunes, still lost by over 50k :o

Which would be as big an injustice as the highest position for a Depeche Mode song being the Saturdays' cover of Just Can't Get Enough

IIRC the CIN medley only got to #11 on iTunes on its midweek release when it charted at #18 on just downloads. It them proceeded to plummet, I don't think it was even top 100 on iTunes for the entirety of the week leading up to its second week at #1 :o The video always outsold the song on iTunes though

Erm, excuse me? Not sure what you're replying to but I never said anything about the performance of CIN Medley and Islands on iTunes stopping them from getting to number one. I just said it was unlikely for any charity single to do an Amarillo (7 weeks at #1) in the download era...

oh you meant several weeks at number 1? I thought you were saying that you didn't think it would get number 1  in that case, yes your probably right

I presume Peter Kay will be singing his part of I Know Him So Well as Geraldine? As awful as it sounds, it won't be worse than George Micheal's appalling cover of True Faith!

As someone said before, imagine if "Someone Like You" had not been performed! Jessie J would have spent her sixth week at number 1 this week. In a way I feel really sorry for her.

I think "On The floor" will get to number 1. I can see it doing really well. There's also a fake version doing well on itunes - yet again look at Wiz. I'm pleasantly surprised it didn't storm to number 1.

Infact, come to think of it, I remember there being a cover version of Stereo Love by DJ Team which got really high on iTunes before the original version was released, and that only charted at #4. It's strange how that happens tbh.

I don't feel any need to sorry for Jessie J though! She was already #1 for 2 weeks. I doubt she cares about the other 4 weeks!

If I feel sorry for anybody here, it's Chipmunk tbh.
