KLF NEED to qualify doe! <3
March 8, 201114 yr Author KLF - BEST BAND EVER. 1991 was the worst year of the 90s though. I wouldn't exactly call them a 'band' from that song though. '3AM Eternal' is an old skool rap song, and I'm surprised it's doing well on an anti-rap website like this. I also wish I could have given the song points, it's much better than some of the songs I did give points too. Oh, and Casey__, KLF are definitely qualifying, they're currently in the top 4 with The Clash, Enigma and Michael Jackson (in no particular order) Edited March 8, 201114 yr by danielGaGa
March 8, 201114 yr As if I missed the first round! :( I couldn't have helped Maria McKee anyway. March 8, 201114 yr I wouldn't exactly call them a 'band' from that song though. '3AM Eternal' is an old skool rap song, and I'm surprised it's doing well on an anti-rap website like this. I also wish I could have given the song points, it's much better than some of the songs I did give points too. I wouldn't call it rap, they're an alternative dance band at heart. Similar in style to acts like The Shamen I guess. They most definitely are a band too... and one that definitely deserve to qualify, easily the best #1 of 1991.
March 8, 201114 yr I'm pleasantly surprised to see Enigma doing well with quite a few people as I thought it would be all but forgotten by now. I only consciously heard Sadeness Part 1 for the first time towards the end of last year and was pleasantly surprised to find it's one of a few songs I have always loved but never knew the name of (another example of this being Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy). But yes, very good song. (Y) I'm extremely disappointed at the amount of -2s Bohemian Rhapsody is getting  Perhaps it won't qualify after all. The Clash, Enigma, The KLF and Michael Jackson is definitely a passable top 4 though. Edited March 8, 201114 yr by Bray
March 8, 201114 yr The bad thing is there's 24 songs in 1996 round, compared to 17 in this round, + there's lots of female number ones in 96' - so there's about no chance of Prodigy making it in. I'll be disappointed if Prodigy do worse than Peter Andre, Boyzone, Gary Barlow and George Michael cr@p. What's even worse is that there's 36 songs in the 1999 round, meaning great dance songs like 'Flat Beat', '9PM' and 'Blue (Da Ba Dee)' won't even go top 20 :( I bet the South Park number one will not be top 30 as well, even though its one of the best 'TV Show Number Ones' in 1990s :( 1999 has some of the best number ones of the decade, 'Mambo No.5', 'Genie in a Bottle', 'Baby One More Time', 'Keep on Movin', 'She's The One', 'Livin' La Vida Loca', 'Fly Away', 'Tragedy' are all good songs too There's hardly "lots" of female numbers ones in 1996. Only a few Spice Girls ones, Gina G, and then two from the Fugees (which has males in it, but is mostly sung by Lauryn). And both of George Michael's #1s in 1996 are superb, by the way. I think at least one The Prodigy song will qualify. Spice Girls will get lots of hate and probably the votes will be split because they have three songs, and I don't see Gina G or Fugees qualifying (as much as I love both of the latter #1s!)... and I think The Prodigy will get lots of high votes (a bit like The KLF this round). 1999 is okay... but 1997 and 1998 have the best years for #1s for me. I'm really surprised how alternative this is so far  I didn't think The KLF or The Clash had a chance of qualifying. 1992 is much better for the female pop fans though! March 9, 201114 yr only on Buzzjack can I find people criticising what it probably the best song of all time :lol:I don't see why we HAVE to like the song just because it's a "classic"... I obviously appreciate it for being groundbreaking musically and structure-wise, but I personally think that it's absolutely horrendous. I'm not saying this because I'm 'generic BJ female singer loon #587' but because I genuinely despise the song. Glad to see that I'm not alone, because oddly enough it's SO critically acclaimed that I almost feel like I'm committing a crime by not liking it :lol:COMPLETELY agree. 100%.

March 9, 201114 yr Ugh, awful year for #1s. Apart from my top 3 of course. 15 KLF feat The Children of the Revolution ‘3AM Eternal’ 12 U2 ‘The Fly’ 10 Enigma ‘Sadness Part 1’ ^ all absolutely brilliant 08 Color Me Badd ‘I Wanna Sex You Up’ not awful at all IMO! Cheesy as, and wouldn't be in my top 5 in most years, but 1991... 06 Cher ‘The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss)’ 05 The Clash ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’ 04 Bryan Adams ‘(Everything I Do) I Do it For You’ 03 Chesney Hawkes ‘The One And Only’ 02 Michael Jackson ‘Black Or White’ 01 Iron Maiden ‘Bring Your Daughter… To The Slaughter’ -2 Queen ‘Bohemian Rhapsody/These Are The Days of Our Lives (1991)’ not fussed on TATDOOL, BR is good obviously, not my candidate for best song of all time though. I'm in the 'it belongs in the 70s' camp, I know I voted The Clash but meh, that wasn't a #1 before. It's the same reason the Elvis re-issues would do so badly if rated for 2005. Anyway, BR wouldn't be in my top 3 of 1975 or 1976!
March 9, 201114 yr I don't see why we HAVE to like the song just because it's a "classic"... you don't, It's just a shame how so many people seem to hate it :( Edited March 9, 201114 yr by chart wizard
March 9, 201114 yr What exactly is the point of not voting for BR because it's a 70s song? It's supposed to be you vote for your favourite 10 songs on the list, if BR is among those then why exclude it just because it was #1 in a previous decade? It makes no sense.
March 9, 201114 yr Author Results and Round 3 - 1992 coming tomorrow morning. :D Round 3's not going to be very interesting as a quarter of the years number ones will go through, and every number one but one will be voted for. Yes there were only 12 number ones in 1992. Also, the top 4 will definitely have Shakespears Sister, Whitney Houston and Snap!, of course that's just my prediction. This game's already thrown a few surprises I can reveal the current top 4 of this round all have over 200 points, with the current number one over 250. Also, the 'loser' of the round is still "The Stonk" which is the only song to be on minus points. Edited March 9, 201114 yr by danielGaGa
