I think the top 5 next week should be:

01. Adele - Someone Like You

02. Jessie J ft B.O.B - Price Tag

03. The Wanted - Gold Forever

04. Rihanna - S&M

05. Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath

I at least hope Nicole can go top 5, she has had good promotion; Dancing On Ice, Loose Women, Daybreak and Lets Dance For Comic Relief, along with video play and being a-listed on Radio 1.

If Blue somehow manage to win Eurovision I could see it going to #1 on iTunes directly after the contest actually! Although I don't think it would get to #1 officially...
Lets just hope they don't mess the release up. I think it'll be a top 10 hit even without the contest. Radio 1 look like they could actually playlist it too...

How are the record company going to handle the release of 'I Can'? If they release on the Sunday directly after Eurovision (May 15th?) then would there be enough buzz to send the track rocketing up iTunes?

What's sad is that 'I Can' is actually better than most of their material they released between 2002-2004. Prior to this, I still think 'All Rise' was their best track by a country mile and never understood the appeal of most of their later singles. Clearly the physical (demise) era of the CD single was enough to get them top 5 but who actually remembers such gems as 'Curtain Falls', 'U Make Me Wanna' and of course most famously Cool Clarity's Single of July 2004; 'Bubblin'?!!! (you can thank Audio Rebel, Beautiful Angel and Angelkim...ho-hum...for this "achievement" :kink: ).

On a lighter note ( :P ) still nothing by Blue comes close to the pop genius that was 'No Worries' by Simon Webbe. ^_^

I don't think Blue will reach top 10 with their new single though I hope I am wrong. I just hope that their European fan base ensures the UK are not humiliated again! lol

Gold Forever would struggle to make top 3 on its own merit but as it is the official comic relief single it should easily be number 2 next week, perhaps number 1 depending on their live performance on the night and whether Adele will start to fall but as she is performing on the night as well I think she could stay top.

This said, it appears that the unofficial comic relief single will be Take That's 3rd single from Progress, 'Happy Now' which will be performed live with Fake That, so that could be a dark horse in the charts next week especially if the video they have filmed to accompany it is good

2. The Wanted

3. Jessie J/B.o.B.

4. Rihanna

5. Wiz Khalifa

So basically the same as the past 2 months with a few new entries thrown in. :drama:

I'd prefer something like this though:

1. Wiz Khalifa

2. Dr. Dre/Eminem/Skylar Grey

3. Tiesto/Diplo/Busta Rhymes

4. The Black Eyed Peas

5. Rihanna

Obviously I am very well aware that this will NOT come to fruition in a million years.

I think they should release it at the beginning of Eurovision week (May 8th) as the hype for the final builds up then and it will be in the press and getting promoted alot that week.

I think the track should be available for download a bit before the contest tbh. It would be fantastic if Eurovision could air, and then people go on iTunes straight after and see it in the top 10.

Whatever happens, I just don't want a repeat of what happened to Lena.

If Adele stands a chance of getting 5 weeks at no. 1 with 'Someone Like You' then I'm all for it - it's been too long since a genuinely popular song got to no. 1 and stayed there to prove its worth. Much better than 5 "one week wonders" nobody will remember six months down the line.

The Wanted can replicate The Saturdays and get to #2 although 'Gold Forever' isn't that bad (it's excellent when compared to the truly dire 'Heart Vacancy' with its strained vocals ** shudders ** ) but Take That are already onto single #3? :o The video for 'Kidz' only premiered last week.

That's a strange thing to say. Have all the "genuinely popular" songs been peaking at #2 or something?

I hate Heart Vacancy too. Although there was a remix of it on one of the Clubland albums which I really liked!

EDIT: Sorry, I see you've changed it now. I was gonna say, you've got to be crazy if you think Just the Way You Are, What's My Name?, etc. aren't popular! :o

No. :P But when you see songs going 01-05 (or some such), that suggests it really isn't popular. Just built up for a big first week sales boost, then plummet down afterwards. How else can you explain why the biggest selling single of 2010 was a UK #2 hit?

Says everything!!! :P

Okay, well it was a bit strange that Dirtee Disco and Once didn't end up in the year-end top 100. :drama: But still.

I think if all songs followed the on-air/on-sale thing, then all the #1s would basically be the year-end top 10, then all the charity songs, X Factor songs and Lady Gaga, JLS, etc. songs which would debut at #1 due to fanbase sales.

I agree 100% with you, it is nice to see Adele's song doing well in the charts and personally I think Gold Forever will peak at number 2 which is good!

Apparently Take That are performing Kidz as well on Comic Relief night along with their performance of Happy Now with Fake That. So although Happy Now hasn't been officially confirmed as their third single it is a pretty safe bet that it is.

I just think back to 1999 and especially 2000 - there were far too many different #1 hits in those years and it's not like they were all classic songs. I'd hate to see the UK charts go back to this state as it really was ridiculous. That said, 2004 wasn't much better but for another reason - the quality of #1 hits that year was the worst from the last decade.

Wait, so what's happening with SuBo & Peter Kay if the second CR single is Take That?

Are there just three CR singles this year?

Yeah there must be three then, hopefully all of them will go top 10 and raise quite a bit of money for Comic Relief

Not sure about the Susan Boyle/Peter Kay duet though :/ it sounds horrible lol and its a very strange song choice

I think the Take That and Fake That (David Walliams, James Corden, John Bishop, Catherine Tate and Alan Carr) performance will be pretty good, the song itself is strong and you can bet there will be quite alot of banter lol

On the positive side, there'll be more movement in the chart for a couple of weeks.

Although a likelihood of this is that the sales will be split between the different songs, causing them to peak lower. The Take That song will probably go to #1 though.

I doubt the George Michael one will do much. Have you guys actually heard it? I like George a lot but it's atrocious! A total insult to the brilliant original. I haven't heard many positive comments about it from anywhere either tbh.

So really, at best there'll only be three Comic Relief songs buzzing around at the top.
