Just been in HMV and noticed that the SuBo/Geraldine single is £2.99 for a 2 track CD (which I doubt many will buy) and £4.99 (:mellow:) for the DVD single! Can't see it selling anywhere near as well as his Children In Need single did, I guess since downloads have taken over, charity singles are becoming more and more irrelevant. Bad for the charities, but good from a musical point of view as they're nearly all diabolical.

WRONG WAY CHIPMUNK & KERI! WRONG BLOODY WAY! :angry:

Come on Noah, the top 10 is calling you!

Nicole back to #2, her album version isnt top 100 though.

SLY back to #1 this week after 4 weeks already? :o

I don't think the 'on air, on sale' is going to help a lot of lower profile acts. Jodie Connor, Willow and Chipmunk are doing terribly with their new singles - where if they held it back for a few weeks or so they'd do much better. Most people won't even know they're out I don't think!

In what way is Chipmunk 'lower profile'? :P But I do agree with you, on air / on sale is going to make it tougher for new acts to break through. It won't make it impossible though, look at Wiz Khalifa and Far*East Movement in the USA - it took them a while but they slowly climbed out of obscurity and to #1.

Anyway, I'm surprised at how well Under Cover Of Darkness is doing :o Much like The Vaccines' If You Wanna last week actually. They really should have given proper single releases to these songs before the album came out.

I really wouldn't be suprised if Nicole went number 1 on itunes again :o she's closed it majorly on Adele, but Adele will be number combined. But being Number 1 again for Nicole on Itunes may help give her a boost. Wooo for Nicole.

I agree with that actually. I can't call it - there are so many variables:-

1. Nicole should now start to see her weekend effect reduction fade, which should boost her back up;

2. Nicole's album version is out, which typically impacts on the performance of the single version;

3. Adele's SLY used to suffer from the weekend effect, now I'm not so sure - it probably benefits to some extent;

4. Adele's CR effect will be lost quickly over the course of the next couple of days

5. Adele currently has the iTunes #1 so will be benefiting from that (although this is her 2nd/3rd run at iTunes #1 therefore the boost will be diluted).

Effect on popularity bars:-

1. Nicole :up:

2. Nicole :down:

3. Adele :down:

4. Adele :down:

5. Adele :up:

Only one thing is for certain, The Unwanted are going to plummet away from both Nicole and Adele :cheer:

I hope Nicole gets #1 again actually.

I think Adele will get #1 though, she's unstoppable with this song atm.

Also, from the cover picture, it's had to tell which of them is the guy in drag. :w00t:

So glad Nicole isnt plumeting, its a different scenario from Poison completely, radio and TV play this week will be a lot higher as it hit #1 yesterday so that will really help it out, and a lot of people who probably havent even heard it yet wil buy it this week, so two possibilites this week I think Nicole 2nd week at #1 or Adele back at #1 for a 5th week..we'll see what Midweeks reveals I guess. At least Nicole looks set for at least #2 which isnt a big drop at all (obviously lol) :)

Didn't realise that Milk & Sugar was already out, I guess that's not going to be the hit it could have been with promotion then!

3rd (and more likely possibility) = Peter Kay / Comic Relief @ #1.

It's such a shame, "If You Wanna" deserved to outpeak "Post Break-Up Sex" :( I actually expected it to a little better given that Vampire Weekend's "Cousins" went top 40 with the same release strategy last year, IYW did have quite a slow start though. The Strokes are still a big band, "Under Cover of Darkness" could still go top 40 (if it stays ahead of all the Glee tracks on iTunes it surely will) but would have been in contention for top 20 had it been released last week. Shame.

Personally I doubt it, but it is a possibility.

At the rate they are going, they will only sell 10k downloads, if that, so they'd have to sell at least 70k physicals, which nowadays seems unlikely in the extreme.

They might lead on the first mids, tomorrow, but with the traditional front-loading of physical sales, they won't stay there.
