Worst number one since I can't remember. Most generic number one... ever?

Don't Hold Your Breath was more generic tbh.

OTF is my favourite song of 2011 so far, when the beat kicks in, its just so amazing. I am so glad to see it doing so well.. far better than I expected. I expected just top 10 by this time but to be at #1 already is amazing. Can't wait for massive sales :w00t:

I think kudos go to J-Lo's management team however. It has been handled fantasticly with managing to get playlistings, video play and pushing the original release date back. Britney's team should be taking note.

 you are so last year, go you :P

I agree with this. I also thin WRWWR was more generic than OTF.

In fact, I don't think OTF is actually that generic at all - it doesn't sound that much like any other pop music at the moment to me.

31. Broken Record - Katy B

This is making good progress. I'd love it to outpeak LO and go top 3. Unfortunately I can't quite see that but I'm hoping for at least a third top 5 hit for her.

Excellent for J-Lo to be #1 already and hopefully secure herself a big lead as the week progresses. :D Having done that rate in the Pop forum, I realised how much I like 'On The Floor' compared to the vast majority of her previous hits.

It might be "generic" (these days it seems everyone thinks one song or another is generic :heehee: ) but I think it's ace. Then again, it's influenced from Eurodance so obviously it reminds me of all the tracks I loved as a teenager.

172. On the Floor (CCW Club Mix) - Jennifer Lopez

235. Bright Lights Bigger City (feat. Wiz Khalifa) - Cee Lo Green

I hope the Wiz mix of BLBC does well, I love Wiz's verse.

I'd say they're about the same, but 'On the Floor' features Pitbull, surely the most generic rent-a-rapper there's ever been?

Wow #1 so quickly! Hope it sells loads :)

What #1 doesn't (except for Orson)... :P

THIS!

I don't think J-Lo is frontloaded at all (in comment to Mikey) - if anything I think her lead will increase as the week goes on. Well deserved #1!

It will surely be frontloaded because it's got 4+ weeks of pent up demand, it was always going to have much higher weekly sales than if it had been released OA/OS but probably won't stick around as long.

Very happy for Jennifer Lopez! This will be her first #1 in 6 years! :cheer:

Maybe, I guess only time will tell. However, when Rihanna released 'Only Girl (In The World)' there were posters claiming that to be "generic" and would tail off fairly quickly. Obviously I can't compare Rihanna "queen of pop 2010" to J-Lo "not had a hit since 2006" but in terms of style, both 'On The Floor' and 'Only Girl' are similar and I personally think 'OTF' will probably stick around for a while - definitely be considered as J-Lo's biggest hit in the UK overtaking 'Love Don't Cost A Thing'.

That's not wishful thinking btw, just what I think could happen in the long run.

JLo will be very frontloaded... but only in the sense that, say, Dynamite was frontloaded, not in the sense that TCIA was frontloaded, if that makes sense (i.e. I still think it'll hang around for ages but it is not going to be able to keep up where it is tomorrow for more than a few days)
Glad to see "On The Floor" doing great. Also hope that Katy B keeps going, I love her songs.
Just heared "On The Floor" Not that impressed.

Who ever said it could go to number 1

Lucky to reach top 20 even top 40.

J-Lo is OVER, she's at the point where nothing can rescue her career (see also Janet Jackson etc). I agree 'On The Floor' is an excellent song, but it'll scrape the top 20 at the absolute best. Wait and see.

FINALLY SENSE. Although i don't agree her song is amazing. Its pretty terrible. JLO is way past it now, She should stick to making her also terrible movies.

Yes i agree with your point, i assume your a loon of JLO or something because i can gaurantee the general public hearing that will hate it. Its so average at best.

HA.
