I can't honestly see how anyone could say Heart was a decent station, it's f***ing awful. Same old songs, day in, day out.

I have a soft spot for Heart only because my favorite music is old RnB and Motown.I do not mind the repeated songs but it would be nice if they could occasionally play songs that have a rapper as a featured artist.

The music of today pales in comparison to the Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker, Diana Ross classics.

You're not missing much trust me. Capital only plays 6 songs and has too much treble to it's sound and no bass :???: , so if you turn it up, you end up with a wopping headache (I do anyway) Kiss, Radio 1 and Absolute are my stations and I normally dip in and out of some of the local stations here.

Anyway back on topic, I'm glad Feeder are back in the Top 40, the proceeds of the track go are going towards the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami appeal.

All the radio stations have their advantages and disadvantages tbh.

Heart is the worst imo. The thing that annoys me the most is that they say "more music variety", yet refuse to play certain genres at all. Other stations like Smooth FM, it doesn't really bother me if they don't play hip hop, because they don't claim to. I don't know how is in charge of Heart FM, but it seems to me that they think "variety" means songs from different decades. It continually baffles me how they play songs like Borderline by Madonna and then Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys (also worth noting, they play this song every few hours, and I've never heard them call it "Part II", or "Broken Down", and I've never heard any reference to Jay-Z), and claim to be playing more music variety?!?

I like Radio 1. I listen to it everyday. Some things that annoy me about it though, is the talking they do all the time. It can get really frustrating tbh. Although Radio 1 does have the most variety of all the stations, and it plays songs from a few years ago which you think everybody has forgotten and stuff. It does annoy me a bit though, how during the day-time shows, it's almost as if they have a checklist of songs to play. It's like "one pop song, check, one rock song, check, one hip hop song, check". It just gets annoying tbh. It just comes across as artificial sometimes, although I'm glad they're not playing jazz or country music every hour, I guess. Another thing that annoys me if how they've got this list of artists which they seem intent on never playlisting anymore (e.g. Alexandra Burke, Enrique Iglesias). They have admitted this, so kudos to them, to be fair, because it saves us all from wondering, but it does seem very unfair. Alexandra, for example. Her next single could be a completely revolutionary song or something, but Radio 1 have already decided that they're not going to playlist it. Just seems a bit unfair tbh.

This brings me onto Capital. One thing I like about Capital is that I can trust them that if ANY artist comes out with a hit, they'll play it, because, from listening to the station, it's almost as if they're just playing all the songs that have made top 10 on iTunes over the past 12 months on rotate. However, this really doesn't help with those artists that are trying to break the mainstream. Although Capital's puropse is to "play all the hits". Unlike Heart FM, it's quite straight-forward with its intentions, and not misleading at all. Capital don't get some random obsession with a song and play it every few hours for 5 years, and they don't bias toward genres as much as some of the other radio stations which claim not to (Capital do play mainly pop and urban songs, because the chart is mainly pop and urban at the moment, that's the whole point!!!!). An annoying thing about Capital is how they have some really stupid radio edits of songs though. Most of them are okay, but some songs seem chopped up and scattered all over the place. Another annoying this is the insane amount of adverts. I usually turn over to Radio 1 during the adverts on Capital, although to be fair, the amount of adverts on Capital probably take up the same amount of time as the talking on Radio 1, although the talking on Radio 1 is far more interesting tbh (most of the time).

Capital play all of S&M. Radio 1 do a horrific edit.

I have actually heard the version of S&M that Radio 1 play on Capital before, to be fair. But only once. I don't know why. I thought they might have gotten complaints about it, so were going to use the censored version, but I heard it since then and they were playing the original again.

Capital will play the same song within 2 hours of it being last played. Tbh they do get 'hooked' onto songs which they play ALL the time. 'Gold Forever' is played all the time, and the DJ's seem to play all the same thing and don't have any personality/music taste. And they barely ever play a song that hasn't been released yet :( Currently they are playing 'Grenade' which I must have heard at least 10 times! aaargh!

The video hasn't premiered yet, it premieres tomorrow. ;)

I've not heard Gold Forever that much on there tbh. If there's any song they're hooked on, I'd say it was Firework, but even so.

The bit about the DJs, their music taste isn't supposed to reflect in the music they're playing. They just play "the hits" on rotate. It's not up to the DJs to decide what "the hits" are, it's up to the public (i.e. what sells the most).

Lucky you! :o It has totally killed the song for me, and I liked it at first too :( I hear 'Firework' a bit, but not enough to think it's get over-played.

I heard Party Rock Anthem on Capital before anyone else heard it!
Capital only play unreleased songs after 7:00, like I heard On the floor on Capital about two weeks before it's UK release
Kiss are quite strange, they seem to just pick and choose what version they play of S&M, one day you could hear the edited version then the next day you could hear the normal one at around about the same time. And I agree with Klumzee, sadly Capital are fond of choosing a song or two and playing it every couple of hours. Fine if you like the song but if you don't then you really shouldn't keep listening!

Capital also used to play another LMFAO song last year a lot, which never got released in the end.

A surprising song that I heard on Capital before hearing it on Radio 1 was Blind Faith. I'm pretty certain Radio 1 would've given it the radio premiere, but Capital had it in frequent rotation earlier than Radio 1 did, which surprised me, since Chase N Status seem like Radio 1 artists more than commercial radio artists.

Although 70% of songs I hear on Radio 1 before on Capital.

I'm so glad Capital started playing that early  It wasn't going to be an obvious hit when they started playing it, like when they started playing 'On The Floor', the only other time I can think of when they did this was when they were playing 'Orianthi - According To You' in September. Sadly that flopped but I still liked hearing it as it wasn't everywhere already.

Same, I was hearing it mid-late Feb

Yes, I remember them playing Orinathi a LOT! :o And it was really annoying, because I HATE that song. :( Another song they played a lot recently which I don't like is Animal by Neon Trees, or whatever. :(

However, looking at the current "hits", I've never heard I Need a Doctor on Capital before. Although I hear it like twice a day on Radio 1, so that makes up for it somewhat.

Another annoying thing about Capital is that they never seem to play Glee Cast. I can understand why, but that really goes against the whole philosophy of the station if they don't play it imo. I've heard the odd Glee Cast track here and there on Radio 1 before.
