A bit depressing that the top 10 on Heart FM all sound practically the same. :(

Although Compare My Radio isn't 100% accurate, mind you.

Apparently Capital's most played song over the past month is Jessie J's Do it Like A Dude - played 122 times http://comparemyradio.com/stations/Capital_FM, whilst Heart's most played song is Make You Feel My Love by Adele played 147 times over the past month :o http://comparemyradio.com/stations/Heart_London

what I find hilarious in that article is that Heart's (AKA 'more music variety') variety gauge is 8% stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Heart

Forget You, The Flood, Love You More, When We Collide, Empire State of mind, Thinking Of Me and two Michael f***ing Buble tracks- when almost all the artists have all had their next single charting by now! :arrr:

edit: oh above 4% is good apparently :( but the stale point still stands

^ Forget You will probably be in their 10 most played in 2013 tbh.

No wonder everybody is going to remember that song!

And yeah, like 10% on the variety guage is excellent, because I think they calculate it by number of unique tracks divided by total number of tracks, so getting over 50% is almost impossible for any realistic radio station. Even Radio 1 is only usually on around 30%.

Comparemyradio says LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem was played twice on Heart Bristol (my local station) Even after midnight, I can vouch that Heart plays nothing more extreme than a bit of (extremely chart friendly) early 00s dance. What bull

This is why Radio 1 are better. Their variety gauge is 27% compared to Heart 8% and Capital 4%. Plus R1 are playing new songs and :o SHOCK HORROR - songs that aren't doing well in the charts! The most played song on Heart is Adele MYFML with 147 plays. On Radio 1 it is Lady GaGa BTW with only 72 plays!

Whole top ten (Radio 1)

1 - Lady GaGa "Born This Way" (72 plays)

2 - Foo Fighters "Rope" (65 plays)

3 - Noah & The Whale "Life Goes On" (65 plays)

4 - Jessie J feat. B.o.B "Price Tag" (63 plays)

5 - Cage The Elephant "Shake Me Down" (62 plays)

6 - The Vaccines "If You Wanna" (62 plays)

7 - The Black Eyed Peas "Just Cant Get Enough" (56 plays)

8 - Take That "Kidz" (54 plays)

9 - Rihanna "S&M" (53 plays)

10 - Nicole Scherzinger "Don't Hold Your Breath" (50 plays)

Radio 2's is even more varied- 61% variety gauge according to the website (I know its only an estimate) looking at their top 30 tracks, I'm very surprised how varied they are

Wow, so that must mean Radio 1 play a song more than once a day! :o

Anyway, I listen to both Capital and Radio 1 every day, and Capital is better. They play more music, better music, and the system they choose for playing music is farer, imo.

Like today, I was listening to Radio 1, and they must've spent like 20 minutes announcing the line-up for that concert they're doing. I was just like "Get on with it!!!!".

The Big Weekend in Carlisle. Best line-up ever? I was listening to Scott Mills on the way to school and I heard that on Saturday Nicole Scherzinger, Jessie J, BEPs, Tinie Tempah, Foo Fighters and more will be there. Shame I'm too young to go :(

Do Heart take the Big Top 40 show? if so then it would of got played Sunday

Oh yeah they do, so that's one play - what about the other one? Maybe Bush, Troy and Paulina slipped it in on the Breakfast show :kink:

Yeah, that's a good line-up! :D I was listening to when they were announcing who's going to be on some of the other stages. Swedish House Mafia, Devlin, Yasmin, Magnetic Man got mentioned, amongst others. But they took sooooooooo long to announce it, and I was like :drama:. I did keep on listening, because I wanted to hear it all, but I could've switched to Capital and listened to Buzzin' or Someone Like You or whatever.

Radio 1 is good in many ways though. There's some songs that I Capital won't (and shouldn't) support, but Radio 1 do.

Well, the top 10 gets played twice on the Big Top 40 Show, so Party Rock Anthem would've got both of its plays from that.

They probably needed something lively to wake them up after playing adele for the 147th time

Ah, I don't listen to the Big Top 40, so thanks :) It would've been funny for them to play it on Heart in the daytime though :D

Personally I only ever listen to Radio 1 on chart day, otherwise I avoid it. Capital, Heart, Magic, Kiss, sometimes Choice and Smooth are good too.

E.T #18 & #41, at a push top 15 by Sunday? Reminds me so much of TATU its crazy lol Like it.

I reckon they would do if it got I Gotta Feeling/Only Girl-type popularity (which it won't, but you know ). They did play We No Speak Americano and Stereo Love last summer, which both seemed a bit too interesting for Heart to be playing. Party Rock Anthem does have rapping in it, but they would probably do some crazy edit of it like they do with I Gotta Feeling.

E.T. is going to be official #1 in the US next week, apparently! :o

I can't believe Katy Perry has got 4 consecutive #1s from one album! :o That's incredible! I wonder if she could get a 5th.

Radio 1 is absolutely my favourite Radio station! In fact, it has become quite a big obsession of mine recently, I can't turn it off. I personally love how they have a balance of music and talking and there is such a varied playlist. And I really love the DJs. I am quite a mainstream pop/r'n'b/chart music person and Radio 1 allows me to listen to music that I wouldn't normally go anywhere near! For example the new My Chemical Romance song 'Planetary (Go)' I am in absolute love with that song, but without Radio 1 A-Listing it, I would probably have never even heard it. Same goes for the latest Vaccines, Noah an the Whale, Fireflies tracks - all brilliant but just not something I am ever likely to let into my conscious.

I listen to a fair amount of Capital, to say that I enjoy how they play up to date, mainstream chart music and it is just like one continuous MP3 Shuffle. The adverts, are however, aggravating. I do not understand how that unhealthy amount of adverts will ever make anyone interested. And I have got to say that for me, the reason that Radio 1 shines, is because of the Presenters. And obviously on Capital, the Presenters are just their to lead the programme and there is no real differentiation between them. And I understand that that is their 'thing', but I much prefer the banter we get with Radio 1.

^ Yeah, I usually change stations when the adverts come on Capital. I go to whichever station is playing a good song (or a song I haven't heard before) at the time. I skim through Kerrang!, Smooth, Heart, Radio 2 and some of my local stations, but I usually end up on Radio 1. But then it's whatever station I'm on to keep me interested enough not to go back to Capital. I also switch off Capital if it's playing a song I don't like (e.g. Grenade). I love listening to Radio 1Xtra too, but I can only get that when I'm at home, so I can't listen to it when I'm at work or travelling.

Buzzin' up to #7!! :D

Sweat back up to #11! Hopefully with it's ever-increasing promotion it can get top 10 officially one day. :)

Need You Now up to #31.

Look At Me Now back up to #36. I really hope this can get top 40 this week!

Firework (Glee Cast) down to #37. I think Thriller/Heads Will Roll will be their only top 40 song this week.

Teenage Dirtbag up to #39!!! :w00t: Why is it re-climbing though?

Till the World Ends up to #47!! :o

Regulate #66. I don't mean this in a bad way, but I'm surprised it's still so high.

Beautiful People up to #95. Like Look At Me Now, this is showing surprising longevity for an album track, so much that it's climbing, and is now higher than that Justin Bieber song which almost made top 20 on iTunes last week.

Talking about album tracks with longevity, Who You Are is almost back in the top 100. I haven't been checking it every day, but I don't think it's left the top 200 since its release.

Roll Up at #105. I love this song so much. Really, really brilliant.

If she did, she'd be the first female artist to do that, ever, and the second artist ever to do it (after Michael Jackson).

I remember a time, when people said that Adele's '19' era was a flop and that she'd never be as successful as Duffy, ever. I also remembering a few people saying J Lo would never have another big WW hit again and that Nicole Scherzinger will always remain a flop. Also people were saying that Katy Perry would be a "One album wonder"...

OH LOOK.

Crazy how times change! :o
