Nah my favourite of my 4 songs in this is 'Cry For Freedom' by miiiiles (that's my fave entry of all) - as long as that isn't in the next post I'm happy :magic: I do prefer Dawn to my other two songs here but the important thing is it got your 12 in the first place so it can't be that bad xx I can understand you not remembering it that well as it is a bit of a subtle song, not one I expected to do near as well as it did.

I never really got into 'The Years (Prologue)', 'Jason' was far better imo. Also don't really remember 'Shades'. The other two songs here are both pretty good although didn't vote for either of them.

My process of doing this was to pit all the songs against each other, with a point being awarded to my favourite of the two, and I just kept forgetting how Dawn went :(.

If it's any consolation, upon hearing that and "Shades" again, I was thinking "Why did I put these in the bottom five", but it was just that tough a ranking for me to do.

Loving your entry for this contest, such an uplifting and catchy dance track!

Thanks for the love Pete

Very much hoping this one can live up to the plug hype (at least enough to be another top 10 for you), quite the bop. :music:

QUINTESSA WIN IN STUNNING LANDSLIDE

The unkthinkable has happened, Quintessa who are known for their frequent DNQs and always being near bottom of the odds, have not only won but done so emphatically, being ahead of Terra Avium's glorious "Pariah" by nearly 50 points. It means a lot for our little country to win (which I sarcastically predicted in January, so I'll just edit in an update of that thread so I seem omniscient), and we were grateful for all the messages of congratulations. I started the year widget-less and now I have two (THANKS TEAMS).

This also means I have the safety of an AQ for the first time, so I'll be sending a subtle indie song in the vain of "Someday" which is sung in both English and Korean. Quintessa capitalising their on their recent success with upbeat electroswing by going for a song that's as different to Gypsy as can be.

Also, my countdown will continue shortly, I have been having a lot of erratic sleep lately which hasn't been helpful in the slightest.

Very much hoping this one can live up to the plug hype (at least enough to be another top 10 for you), quite the bop. :music:

Well this happened *.*

I was predicting this to be the winner by the end but I'm shocked it ended up doing it by quite a much of a landslide as it did! Congrats on the long awaited win (I was there too with having no wins in 40 attempts x), very much deserved. Also 'Someday' is one of my favourite Quintessa entries so already interested to hear what you have up your sleeve for BJSC 98! That description doesn't sound too dissimilar from one of my past potentials actually... probably won't be the same but you never know ~

Will you be hosting the next contest? ;o

Well, i'll be busy for a fortnight so probably a co-host for the semis and i'll take the finals, also don't know how to do MP3 packs so might need help with that.

A huge congratulations to you on the debut win Leonardo! :cheer: Always refreshing to see new blood at the top and even better when the song is this good. It is my 2nd favourite winner of the year thus far based on points awarded (Drones Club got 12, this 10) so yay. Such an instantly infectious offering to BJSC!

34: BJSC 35: Hendinia // Wynter Gordon - Buy My Love, Actual Finish: 6th

33: BJSC 38: Kopecka // Loreen - Sober, Actual Finish: 1st

32: BJSC 33: Hendinia // Rasmus Seebach - Natteravn, Actual Finish: 11th

31: BJSC 86: Dobago // Albin Myers and Carli - The Legend, Actual Finish: 8th

In this section we lose a bunch of our earlier 12s including two of Hendinia's three top scorers, they had to wait many contests for their third in the shape of "Jimmy Dean" which of course is yet to be announced.

Kicking us off in the section is the punctuality-intolerant nation of Republic of Adonia with "Intoxicated", seeing Martin Solveig as the artist lead to me writing the entry off as cheap, which off course it is, and why it's at this end, but I still enjoyed it, but it's nothing more than dance fluff.

Next off we have two female artists known to the mass public for just one single, Wynter Gordon's "Buy Me Love" doesn't sound much like "Dirty Song" but rather a more fun 00s song, with a catchy chorus, this just has a weak production letting it down.

Then Eurovision slayer Loreen, this time with a winner from Tirren's country (called Kopecka) at the time, this was also my last big pointer before my hiatus, this is a great song, not got the hook that "Euphoria" had obviously, and feels more like an album track to me, but still very enjoyable to listen to.

Hendinia's other song in this section with Rasmus Seebach, who's quite the hot Danish piece... but yes the song, starts out great and then gets a bit generic in the middle with that circa 2010 production dating it somewhat. Now if it had 80s production, it would have lasted outside of songs sounding dated, and maintained being awesome.

Wrapping us up is a more recent effort from last year and the first of two from Dobago, "The Legend" is a great house song, and not one I find much fault with, and it builds more and more to become even more epic, but this is a genre I tap into the least and subsequentally lower on this ranking. Whereas Ultraviolenceland's entry "Lion" is something I still regularly listen to and would probably be my 12 nowadays, in fact both "Blush" and "Porcelain" from that contest are also both more fondly remembered

Belated congratulations on your victory! Always great to see a new winner and intrigued to find out what your hosting style will be like! ^_^

Thanks Dandy, I imagine it to be accurate yet tedious :cheer:, with possible overuse of gifs.

'The Legend' was one of my faves of 2016 (and yet to be revealed in my own EOY which is still stalling at #31 for the time being ) Wasn't keen on 'Intoxicated' during the contest but I did enjoy it when it later became a hit #commercialhoe.

Also a little late but poor 'Let Me Down' being right at the bottom of your self ranking! I didn't realise that was meant to be an attempt at getting a hit, I wish it had worked though, I loved that song :kink:

Intriguing! To get myself in the right mood, I'm off to search for one of Bray's threads from before he became popular :kink:

oh haha at him appearing just as I posted that! (love ya really!!! x ) - BRAYDAR? :o

35: BJSC 73: Cyclist & Maiko - Shine , Actual Finish: DNQ (32nd in Semi)

34: BJSC 85: Elektra - I Don't Do Boys - , Actual Finish: 41st

33: BJSC 33: Amber - Above The Clouds, Actual Finish: DNQ (21st in Semi)

32: BJSC 74: Silvermine - Flying (Solarstone Pure Mix), Actual Finish: DNQ (24th in Semi)

31: BJSC 36: Julie Atherton - Portrait Of A Princess, Actual Finish: DNQ (16th in Semi)

The first of our entries to be brought up today is "Shine" which was a last minute scramble of an entry if we're being honest, but I remember it having no impact apart from a few people mentioning it as a sure-fire DNQ and sure enough it found itself at the bottom of the semi with a meager 11 points, which I always found confusing as I still liked it, and there was more crap in that contest for sure, but yeah easy for me to eliminate at this stage.

At #34, is our first finalist to appear and our only Wooden Spoon finalist, Elektra with the pop-rock ode to lesbianism, "I Don't Do Boys", I thought it was fun and like a budget "I Kissed A Girl" only this time with real (i presume) Icelandic lesbians. Other nations weren't so kind, (Bre) but i'll still give it the occasional play.

Up next is our debut, which still holds the joint record for worst debut as it entered slap bang at the bottom of the semi. I still didn't really get what the contest was then, but by gosh that wasn't going to stop me entering, I thought of a cool country name and everything. So i chose "Above The Clouds" which I remembered liking from an episode of 'Sex And The City'. It's enjoyable enough, but not really one I think of as a BJSC entry.

At 32, is one that I remember a few of you loving, but has been surpassed dramatically by "Genesis" in my estimations, and will always be the weaker of two for it. It's anthemic enough, and should have obviously qualified, but it's obvious which is my superior trance entry.

As we leave the bottom 10, we do so with our only entry that looked like it might qualify for a bit in my first run of entries, in the satirical Disney-esque "Portrait Of A Princess", which I remember Rich hating at the time putting it at the bottom of the odds and almost campaigning against it, obviously novelty wasn't as de rigeur as it is now, this song's fun enough and has a few more plays than some of the songs above it. But when I think of Quintessa's Greatest Hits (available soon), it rarely features. Probably because I am a serious artist these days. :drama:
