Had to scroll back to remind myself if I have any other songs still to come in this countdown :magic: still 2 left in the top 25 I think, yay. Excited to see where they land some time in 2019 (probably around the time I drop my 2017 EOY xx). Much love for jj in that section too ofc <3

I really liked 'First & Last', can't believe it did so poorly in its contest (I actually loved most of the songs that were near the bottom of that semi). 'Out Of Time' definitely deserved a lot better too.

Oh yeah Don't Speak is amazing! Love the melody and instrumentation in there, really refreshing :D

Thanks for the support guys, I loved both of your entries this month too, so it's nice to be reciprocal.

On we go then,

Throwback gorgeous indie entry for me with "We Were Young", it's such a cute little indie song with great catchy production, still gets a lot of plays for me to this day.

Another beautiful entry up next with what is surprisingly the only Terra Avium 18 from the first 40 contests, it's so simple yet so effective, it's a piece which can alter your mood and make you feel serene upon every listen.

This is probably high up due to nostalgia as I loved Christina's album 'Arms and this one in particular which has aged probably better than 'Jar Of Hearts'.

80's synthy instrumental track  yes please! Almost as though it was specifically marked for me I ate this up and it still sounds great, although I do prefer the FM-84 entry sent for Masquerade this still has a special place for me, one Jadakissnia entry left!

Another 80s sounding entry next this one a bit funkier sounding a bit similar to Peter Gabriel's 'Sledgehammer', but again one that's right up my alley.

The top 20 left to be announced;

BJSC 64: Daehun // Oh, Be Clever - Next To You

25: BJSC 82: Gina Kushka - Bring Me Down , Actual Finish: 20th

24: BJSC 84: Annabelle Jones - Happy , Actual Finish: 37th

23: BJSC 81: Crywolf - Akureyri, Actual Finish: DNQ (21st in Semi)

22: BJSC 69: Vanilla - Who Gets Your Love, Actual Finish: DNQ (25th in Semi)

21: BJSC 75: Priest - Strong Hearts, Actual Finish: DNQ (34th in Semi)

Always wondered what Ellie Goulding would sound like doing a R&B song about receiving oral sex, well since I entered Gina Kushka you don't have to, even though it lacks the plays of other songs in this section, when I'm in the mood it still sounds great.

At #24 is an electronic indie entry, "Happy" by Annabelle Jones, It's really melodic and sweet and I remember being frustrated when this was played on plug as people were mocking the drop in this as though it was supposed to sound like a DJ Snake song or something.

Inspired by Terra Avium's gorgeous Crywolf DNQ from the previous year, I stumbled across this gem which is so atmospheric and really sets the tone, another one of my entries which just missed out on a qualification and following 'Resonate' and '1/M/T' that stung a little.

My shortest entry next and one I love for sounding so different from the others, it's a sample from an soul song, remixed to a sex jam, and is indeed probably the sexiest entry I've sent.

Finishing this section is Priest who have recently received some BJSC redemption after Cumulonimbia entered them and got them to qualify, I still prefer this song of theirs, to be fair it is a grower but it's perfectly catchy and sweet.

My top 20;

1/M/T - Mirror Talk

All That Matters - Hannah Peel

Below - White Lung

Cages - Woolf And The Wondershow

Cloaked - Woolf And The Wondershow

Eres Mía - Romeo Santos

Further Away - Satchmode

Genesis - Driftmoon

Home - Diana Wang

I'm In Love - Noonie Bao

Met Jou Klere Aan - Leah

Rabbit Holes - Thology

Resonate - Avec Sans

Snowship (Thomas Jack Remix) - Benjamin Francis Leftwich

Someday - Float Fall

Square Hammer - Ghost

The Cruel One - Gold Motel

Who You Are - Natural Animal

Y Ddawns - Ani Glass

Zooby Zooby - Alisha Chinai

Ooh yay for 'Arcade Summer' popping up here  it is still one of the most dreamy instrumentals that I've ever heard, such a good find. Fair enough at you preferring 'Running In The Night', that is very strong as well. It did get an 18 from me after all *.* I would definitely recommend the whole of the accompanying album 'Atlas' if you're into both of those! Excited to hear more from him in the future. 'Electrify' and 'Precious Little' are very good in this section too

Looking forward to seeing where 'Virtual Paradise' will place in the top 20 *.* lots of other fantastic picks in that list too.

ERIC WHITACRE REPRESENTS QUINTESSA

After a bit of contemplation with a handful of other entries, we’ve decided to go choral and enter this beauty for 103, whether or not it will continue our moderate success in 2018 is remained to be seen, but i’ll hope it will find fans.

Also, will be continuing my countdown later on this week.
Oh this is another one I already know from you playing it on plug like with Mattias' song, didn't recognise the title until just now :magic: excellent choice here as well. <3

20: BJSC 77: Séyetana // Stellar - Vibrato, Actual Finish: 34th

19:BJSC 67: Persephonia // Jay Dabhi and Moises Modesto - Cry For Freedom, Actual Finish: 1st

18: BJSC 96: Azure //Patent Pending - Hey Mario, Actual Finish: 31st

17 :BJSC 91: Aesthetica // Wonder Girls - I Feel You, Actual Finish: 8th

16: BJSC 74: Desbuanda // CAPPA - Hush (feat. Almighty Chief), Actual Finish: 20th

On a quick note, our country is celebrating the first time we have managed to qualify for all of the first three contests of the year!

Starting the top 20, is 'Vibrato' a fun catchy K-Pop song which is a genre, I've dived deeper into in the last year, I love that this song reminds me of both late 90s and a bit disco, a underated Seyetana entry for sure.

At #19, is probably a more well remembered track, one of Persephonia's winners and one of the best instrumental entries of BJSC. It just builds so well and makes the best use of instrumentation and the electronic music simultaneously.

18's pick probably seems a bit out of place, but 'Hey Mario' manages to capture my nostalgia feels in two places, first and most obvious with the Mario theme and also in the sort of Busted style pop rock genre which I kinda miss from modern music, also it's quite funny which is rare for a BJSC novelty song.

A 80's themed K-pop song with tight production and great vocals, sign me up, bit of a shame that Aesthetica keep DNQing as I do tend to like their entries.

Another 80s sounding entry next this one a bit funkier sounding a bit similar to Peter Gabriel's 'Sledgehammer', but again one that's right up my alley.

Closing of this section is perhaps another underrated country that I tend to love, this song is just gorgeous, the vocals are on point, and it's still the one I revisit most from that contest.

20: BJSC 91: White Lung - Below , Actual Finish: DNQ (26th in Semi)

19: BJSC 35: Gold Motel - The Cruel One , Actual Finish: DNQ (17th in Semi)

18: BJSC 92: Diana Wang - Home, Actual Finish: 30th

17: BJSC 96: Alisha Chinai - Zooby Zooby, Actual Finish: DNQ (25th in Semi)

16: BJSC 95: Leah - Met Jou Klere Aan, Actual Finish: 32nd

Starting the Home top 20, we have an entry from an act I have liked from a while, 'Below' is an interesting feminist rock anthem, which I felt went underappreciated at the time.

Next is my favourite entry from my first run at the contest, which I found using iTunes suggestions, which isn't the best way to find entries for BJSC, but this still holds up for me, a catchy fun indie song.

At 23, is Diana Wang's 'Home' which is the type of pop song which doesn't really get entered often any more, but I would like it to, I think Diana does a great job with this one.

My only Bollywood entry is at #17, it's one of my more earwormy entries, I was inspired by "Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Aaja" by Parvati Khan and tried to find a similar one to represent Quintessa, and tbh I prefer Zooby Zooby.

Leah ends this section with some incredibly catchy schlager sounding Afrikaans pop, I thought this did well to qualify out of a distinctly unpoppy semi, and I was even more surprised to see it comeback for TBO after a 32nd finish.

god 'below' is SO good. i still play it on a regular basis.

i just realised that the reason i've given u so little points is cos all ur best songs DNQ :( ('out of time' !!)

Oh so 'In Your Bones' is the highest of my songs ;o fair enough ~

'Hush' and 'I Feel You'

Yeah, I know it wouldn”t be your favourite entry, but I still stan it.

ARCHIS REPRESENT & QUINTESSA CELEBRATE

Quintessans are celebrating as the country bags its second podium finish as Eric Whitacre’s (et. al) “Fly to Paradise” finishes in third place, which means of our four top ten entries all have finished in unique top 5 positions (“Gypsy” came 1st, “Resonate” came 4th and “1/M/T” came fifth), so if our next top ten entry came second we’d be really appreciative (HINT *BLOODY* HINT).

Onto 104 and we have decided to recycle Séyetana for the first time with ARCHIS and the anthemic “Let Me Love”, will it continue our Q streak and equal our highest streak (4!), only time will tell, speaking of 4, apparently we are 4th in the YTD points ranking, which is so unprecedented people are conducting experiments to see if Quintessa have hacked the lucrative Skype clique, investigations are ongoing.

WE’RE A LITTLE BIT COUNTRY

Quintessa are coming back after another relatively strong month after ARCHIS’ “Let Me Love” finished in 16th place, the same result as Woolf And The Wondershow managed with “Cloaked”, this may have even kept us in the YTD 10 which is still bizarre to us (if we have).

For our current entry, Quintessa has submitted a country-pop song for the first time outside of the spin-off on which it was forced onto us, it’s a catchy song with a great chorus, but will it be enough to give us an unprecedented fifth qualifier in a row? Only time will tell, although the semi is full of both #DANCEBLOC and #INDIEBLOC so we won’t hold our breaths.

I'm really astonished at how much I liked this one, I liked a few of the songs in the Country spinoff but otherwise the genre is usually terrible as ever in BJSC! This was a great song though, I can imagine it being plastered all over commercial radio :P was a nice surprise to see it dark horsing nearly all the way to the top 3. WD on the YTD #1 as well, well deserved as I've loved 3 of your 5 entries thus far this year x
omfg I had this stuck in my head all last night and I couldn't figure out what it was  I passed this off way too quick for being country but it's actually pretty good...

Thanks, I wasn’t going to send it as it does sound very much Radio 2 playlist, but it was stuck in my head for days and you can’t really ignore that x

Very earwormy indeed, thank x

So, YTD #1 - It’s quite unbelievable that I get to hold this for a bit (god bless the month gap) as I’ve never been anywhere near the top 10 before so this year’s support has been muchly appreciated. And to get our third semi win after “1MT” and “Gypsy” is also fantastic (three v. different songs there as well lol).

It’s my 50th entry next and I’ve got three potentials lined up, an Icelandic instrumenal which whilst beautiful will go over the head of many, a Belgian indie-pop with a great chorus and something which may get the dreaded Spotify label, but has really grown on me in the past few weeks, may post them as potentials if I get really stuck, but I think it’s best that I ignore the urge to chase the YTD goal and send something quintessentially Quintessa.

Icelandic instrumental already has my vote *.* (Belgian indie-pop could be interesting though if it's anything like Loïc Nottet in Eurovision :kink:)
