Sadly if on air on sale didn't exist, Britney would've had two UK top 5s (at least) with "Hold It Against Me" & "Till The World Ends". I'm sure of it!

You have no way of proving that!

Regardless, if on air/on sale actually IS[ preventing some frankly average/below par Britney singles from reaching the Top 5 then its surely a good thing. Maybe it will encourage her to come back with some better material.

Exactly, they probably would have flopped as well, the important thing is what we do know and what has happend, which is they havent done well.

I'm not sure how likely that is.

From what I've read, her heart really isn't in it any longer - it might be that she's only carrying on because that's all she knows?

#45 - Tinie Tempah - Simply Unstoppable (Yes Remix)

What is this?

#45 - Tinie Tempah - Simply Unstoppable (Yes Remix)

What is this?

EDIT: Looked it up :P It's a remix used in the Lucozade ad, featuring Travis Barker (the drummer of blink-182)

Haven't personally seen it but that explains why the original had been floating around the top 200 for a while

It's up to #42 now, could actually be quite big :o

On air sales seem to be working pretty well for Gaga in the US - i just don't think the UK are all to keen on the concept - look at Chipmunk, Britney etc. I think its safer to consider overall sales as a better indication as to whether a song has flopped or not for on air sales.

That's because everything gets released OA/OS in the USA. I don't think it's 'not working' here, it's just it is still not the predominant method of release. Once it becomes more prevalent I can see OA/OS producing bigger and longer lasting hits.

Hope so, one of my favourites from the album & I really like the remix as well. Do you know if Tinie was planning on promoting any other songs as singles after 'Wonderman'?

LOL, aren't like 8 out of the top 10 on air, on sale (or released from an album, which is basically the same thing)? Everyone except J-Lo and Wretch, I think. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not sure on LMFAO and Mann. But either way it's over half the current top 10. How can you say the UK aren't keen on the concept just because Gaga and Britney aren't exactly thriving from it, based on THAT.

And Gaga has got to #1 from on air, on sale before, as somebody already said a few pages back. Chipmunk has also had a top 10 hit from the method before (Look For Me). So if either of them are flopping now it's because either 1) they're not getting enough airplay; or 2) the public simply aren't keen on the songs. One thing about OA/OS is that it will probably far more genuinely reflect the popularity of the song in terms of peak, so when a song isn't that popular it will be show, whereas before it probably would have fluked a week in the top 10 and then bombed down. Based on its run now I think the Chipmunk song would have peaked in the top 10 and dropped like a brick if it was held back, to be honest.

That said, Gaga clearly isn't flopping. She'll rebound once the video is released, etc. We'll just have to see how much.

I'm just really getting sick of people moaning about OA/OS to be honest just because a few of this site's fave pop tarts are slightly suffering from it. Jeez. I had my doubts about it before but apart from the charts being a little bit slower I think it's been brilliant so far.

The original 'Animal' by Neon Trees is back up to #54. Didn't notice that. Should overtake the Glee version (#53) imminently.

39. Simply Unstoppable (Yes Remix) - Tinie Tempah

Also, the two INADs are next to each other on the current feed :D Aloe at #25 and Dre at #26

Also, Bring It and the single version of Wonderman have both bombed recently - #89 and #97 respectively :o Though the latter has two other versions top 300 anyway (#121 and #225). Speaking of Tinie he should be back up to 5 top 100 entries this week with Simply Unstoppable entering :D Which will put him up to a combined total of 92 top 100 weeks in the first 17 weeks of 2011.

I see Kanye is back up to #12 - Adele is really far ahead at #11 but still, this is really frustrating to see it being so close for so long but never quite making it to the top 10

Another Invincible on the cards there I think. :(

I don't think Someone Like You really needs to go back in the top 10.

I'd love Kanye to get up to #11 so when something falls out of the top 10 it can finally get in, although there's a massive gab between him and Adele, then another massive gap between Adele and the top 10, so it's unlikely, unless Fast Car suddenly goes into free-fall.

I don't see any way for Kanye to get top 10 - the #10 is basically double his pop bar (90% ahead) so he'd need a marked increase in his bar and a marked decrease in the BEP bar to do it. I just don't see that coming from anywhere tbh.

Possibly, but she would also have had two horrendous chart runs to go with it.

THIS. Can people stop moaning about OA/OS already.

It is working, and will work better over time as it becomes more established and, as Bray says, becomes the dominant/only method of release in the UK. That is why it works so well in the US - they've had it for far longer than the UK. The UK is playing catch-up, and when it finally does, we'll see similar UK/US(digital) chart runs for tracks

I AGREE, THE RECORD COMPANIES HAVE TO ADAPT TO IT BETTER!!
