Poor brave Stefy! I reckon that could have been a winner if I'd saved it for a few contests...

It was already quite old wasn't it? I know that Chelsea, and indeed the whole of The Orange Album reminds me of the second year of uni, which would have been...2006.

It was, but a fair few people did discover it - and it was just 11 points off of victory (in an era when oldies that weren't hugely well known, like Gomenasai, could sweep the title) so I reckon it could've won a contest like II or VIII when there were a fair few people taking part and when the results weren't decisive.

Woah Stefy had an actual album?!?!?!?!

Chelsea was ancient when you sent it Tyron, it did do rather well...

Two of my winners there and Lykke obviously not in - I'm guessing Sheelah's The Last Time will be my highest winner in your countdown, although I don't necessarily think that my winners have been my best entries for the most part, I'd happily lose Not A Love Song and Sadness Is A Blessing for Music Everywhere and M.A.G.I.C., that would be perfect :wub:

Andreas too! No way that was making it in :lol:

Music Everywhere :wub: Sorry Tom but Anna should have won XIX

I think I must have discovered Stefy on BJ in the first place back in 2006 :o I thought there was quite a bit of internet buzz around them, certainly around Chelsea? I recall seeing the video on UK TV a few times, shame they couldn't get a hit out of it.

They did, it was called The Orange Album and was electro pop at it's finest, but like Rachel Stevens' Come & Get It, it was a little too ahead of its time. My favourite songs were Orange County and You And Me Against The World if you're looking for starters but I haven't listened to the album in a really long time :o Not because I don't like it but because I usually forget that it exists :drama:

If you mean XX I totally agree. But I should have won XIX :kink:

He wasn't one of my winners :lol: Thank god, a former UK top five hit would hardly have set a great precedent for a winner - I love the song but I'm sure I could have come up with something more appropriate for the contest - iirc, it was between that and Ricki Lee's Can't Touch It for III. Oh well, to say that it's my cheapest entry isn't something to be hugely ashamed of, as there were FAR worse culprits than that in the first five contests for cheapness!

Music Everywhere is one of my BJSC entries that I still hammer regularly - here's the list of mine that I still truly adore and listen to a lot;

Believe Again, Love Song, Mine All Mine, Headhunted, M.A.G.I.C., I'm Going For Your Brother, Robots In Love, Music Everywhere, A Night Like This, Backseat, Psycho and The Last Time. I didn't have a huge amount of classics between XXI-XXX but I DO think that A Night Like This was one of them, and it'd have been nice if it had snuck into the top ten.

A Night Like This is a stone cold CLASSIC. I would reveal which ones i still listen too, but I'd be giving away a decent portion of the countdown :lol:

I've entered a track after it hit #1 ^_^ Hole In The Head has to be my cheapest track with Riverside and Push The Button in the top3

Oh yes, Stefy was over a year old to my knowledge when I sent it - but pretty much anything old that the majority didn't know back then could do very well. Just look at the majority of winners between I and VII :lol:

To my mind Priscilla is still the rightful winner of XIX :(

#100-96

100 || Sibel - Make Believe [FSR Rontvia - V]

Kicking us off is an early Rontvian entry. This stunning ballad is from Swede Sibel who has made a couple of returns since her debut in the 5th contest.

099 || September - Satellites [Phlumptopia - II]

A perfect slice of Scandi-Dance pop from the second contest entered by Admin André

098 || Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat [People's Republic of Jester - XXXIII]

PRJ's new niche had best be here to stay. Romanian Dance pop is clearly where it's at. [see also Dan Balan and Cristina Rus]

097 || Millionaires - Stay The Night [Ojnoj - XXVIII]

Trashy and addictive, of course I love this.

096 || Beverley Knight & Chaka Khan - Soul Survivor [Quotosibb - XXI]

Utterly fantastic bit of soul here, but not quite as amazing as Quotosibb's debut with Bev.

A Night Like This is a stone cold CLASSIC. I would reveal which ones i still listen too, but I'd be giving away a decent portion of the countdown :lol:

Caro :wub: I've noticed it popping up in some personal charts recently (of BJSC'ers!), jumping on the bandwagon over a year late :smoke:

It's almost as bad as Maneater and the like but you were forgiven slightly because everybody knows you as the biggest Sugaloon, and going with anybody else for your first entry just wouldn't have felt quite right.

True. In a way it's a shame that you have to send a new leak to stand a fighting chance of doing well these days. That said, my way of picking my entries these days is to send the highest eligible song in my personal chart (i.e. non cheap/UK release/Eurovision etc...) so I'm never in a position to want to send anything old as I wouldn't be charting it in the first place.

A Bar In Amsterdam was my favourite entry that month by a mile (well Stay The Night was musically but I'd been obsessing over the track for 6 months by that point) and I'd have loved to have seen it at least reach the top five. But everyone was going far too crazy for Silly Boy to notice anything else.

Will there be any appearance by the Kluminican Republic? :teresa:

Great start, love 4 of those and Stay The Night is alright...

Didn't know you were that into Make Believe actually :o I had it in my head at work yesterday oddly enough, which is ironic seeing as it hasn't entered my consciousness for the best part of 3 years before then!

Oh, I wouldn't necessarily say so. Riverside's over a year old now, isn't it?

The Ashton entry rank - #35

I'm also ranking all my entries from I to XXXIII including the two spin-offs.

35 || Sidney Samson & Wizard Sleeve - Riverside Motherfucker (Let's Go) (Dirty Extended Mix) - XXVI - DNQ

Firmly in the category of regrets and entries I wish I hadn't entered is the second in the string of 4 DNQ's and was #4 in total. While I ADORE this for going out, it was a bit of a mistake to enter a 5min dance track that was highly repetitive. Perhaps some other release schedule entry would have been better to protest with. Although in the long run I kinda won as there is no way on GOD'S EARTH Love The Way You Lie et al would get entered now ^_^

I bummed Satellites to death in 2006 - I just listened for the first time in YEARS. Much love.

Yes, I hope my new niche is here to stay as well!!
