Posted May 30, 201114 yr GaGa set for second week at number one 10:54 | Tuesday May 31, 2011 Source: MW By Paul Williams Singles Last Sunday’s top-five sellers are identical at this stage of the week, albeit in a slightly shuffled order with Give Me Everything still at one, I Need A Dollar up a place to two to swap places with Elektra/Atlantic’s The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars, the Interscope/Polydor-issued Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett and Goonrock holding at four and 3 Beat/AATW’s Mr Saxobeat by Alexandra Stan remaining at five. However, they are all being pushed by Def Jam/Mercury’s Rihanna whose California King Bed – which was 20th on last Sunday’s chart – is experiencing a 188% week-on-week sales lift to elevate it to sixth place. Ministry of Sound should be back in the Top 10 this coming Sunday with What A Feeling by Alex Gaudino featuring Kelly Rowland the highest new release of the week so far at number nine. Immediately below it are two singles by Def Jam/Mercury’s Jennifer Lopez: I’m Into You featuring Lil Wayne up three places to 10 and its predecessor On The Floor featuring Pitbull gaining a place to11. Albums Lady GaGa’s Born This Way looks like securing a second week at the top of the UK artist albums chart this week, as Radio 2 favourites The Pierces head for a top five entry. GaGa’s Interscope/Polydor album, which last Sunday debuted at number one with the highest first-week sales of the year, is currently outselling nearest rival 21 by XL’s Adele by a margin of around two copies to one, according to OCC data. If Born This Way does spend a second week at one it will be the first time since 21 debuted at one back in January that it would have been absent from the top spot for more than seven days. Polydor currently has two albums among the week’s top-three sellers, with New York’s The Pierces showing up in third spot with their newly-issued You & I. Its strong initial response follows significant support from Radio 2. Three other brand new albums are also showing up in the Top 10 positions at this point of the week with Roadrunner’s US rock act Black Stone Cherry ranked fifth with Between The Devil & The Deep Blue Sea, Seasick Steve’s PIAS Recordings debut You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks in seventh spot and Status Quo 10th with Quid Pro Quo through their own Fourth Chord label. Veteran US rock band Journey look like scoring their first UK Top 40 hit with a new studio album since 1986’s Raised On Radio with their newly-issued Eclipse – released on their Frontiers label – showing up as a new entry at 14. That puts it one place ahead of Atlantic act Death Cab For Cutie’s brand new album Codes & Keys, while lower down there are new solo outings registering in the Top 40 positions from Andrea Corr and Eddie Vedder plus Edsel’s re-issue of the self-titled first Suede album. Meanwhile, Epic’s Aloe Blacc looks like moving into the Top 10 of the albums chart for the first time this week with Good Things experiencing a 222% week-on-week sales rise. Its improvement comes as sales of his hit single I Need A Dollar lift 32% to make it the new closest challenger to the Pitbull-led Give Me Everything’s chart-topping crown. The J/RCA single, which also features Ne-Yo, Afro Jack and Nayer, spent a second week at number one last Sunday and at this stage of the new chart week is around 9,000 sales ahead of Blacc. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Top 40 Only Singles 1 Pitbull ft. [02] This is a mid thread for every artist do not go on and on and on about a certain artist to bring the board into disrepute. [03] Please be patient when you are asking for a request, as you might not get an answer straight away. [04] Any member asking for information that isn't in the updates we don't have, always read the topic before you post, I do not want to see questions like Where is Britney? repeated several times on every page of the thread, once is enough, bookmark the page if you don't have time to read all of the topic. Its not that hard. [05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude. [06] Do not use Text Talk. [07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision. [08] Please give a mention to who posted the chart info or the site name where you seen the mid info if you are copying and posting the chart info elsewhere, it takes forever trying to re-edit all the information up for you to see. [09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures. [10] Regarding chart postions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.
May 31, 201114 yr Hoping to see Seasick Steve as this week's 'honourable runner-up' to GaGa and Adele x2. Although The Pierces are probably more likely, if not just Bruno Mars again (or another old album). Can't see any of the new releases making the top 3.
May 31, 201114 yr Hoping to see Seasick Steve as this week's 'honourable runner-up' to GaGa and Adele x2. Although The Pierces are probably more likely, if not just Bruno Mars again (or another old album). Can't see any of the new releases making the top 3. His last album charted at #4 in October, so Seasick Steve should be comfortably top 10 in this sales climate. I fear they won't give us sales info for GaGa so we'll have another few days of loonage saying "OMG SHE'S GOING TO SELL ANOTHER 200K!!!" as well as a few more days of posts like "OMG SHE'S GOING TO FALL BEHIND ADELE, SHE'S SUCH A FLOP!!!". Sigh.
May 31, 201114 yr Seeing as The Pierces seem unable to get a top 40 single, a top ten album would be very welcome indeed for them, even better if they could join Caro Emerald in the top ten. Andrea Corr will probably be lucky to go top 40, although her sister managed it last year so who knows...would be odd if Sharon was more popular than Andrea  The album chart's all gone 'a bit Radio 2' recently hasn't it :o

Sigh. His last album (...Songs For Elisabeth) actually only got to #33 in February - Man From Another Time was October 09. I do have higher hopes for YCTAODNT to do better because of the horrendous sales (see The Prodigy having the second lowest sales for a #5 in the 21st century :() but I have a feeling The Pierces and/or some older albums will prevent him from taking #4. EDIT: ...SFE was actually a compilation album, I just found out. But it still probably should've done a bit better than #33 off the back of 2 top 10 albums (ISOWNAISGMOIL got to #9 as well) Edited May 31, 201114 yr by Bray
May 31, 201114 yr Excellent - Cults are going to be the number 1 album this week... well in my world anyway
May 31, 201114 yr Quite a dull week this week. :( Luckily Rihanna and J.Lo will be top 10 and maybe Jessie and Nicole could scrape it by the end of the week - I think Jessie stands a chance but Nicole will probably have to wait until next week.
May 31, 201114 yr Nice to see the Sats holding up so well ;) Chris Brown should go back in the top 5 I reckon if he performs Beautiful People on BGT.
May 31, 201114 yr I assume Rihanna is at #6? :P EDIT: Yeah I figured it out. Edited May 31, 201114 yr by SceneofSIXCrimes
May 31, 201114 yr I assume Rihanna is at #6? :P Yep, its possible to work it out by deduction using the artist update.
May 31, 201114 yr 24k for GaGa? What's the usual multiplier for second weeks, 3.5x? She might push three figures then if she's lucky.
