I am officially an Alexandra stan, hope it can somehow eventually get to #1, although with Pitbull and Example in the way, it's probably an uphill struggle...

Looks like yet another Eurodance 'almost #1'

I was really annoyed how Ida Corr's Let Me Think About It didn't reach #1 and only peaked at #2 :(

As I have said before, I will be very angry if Example goes to number. I loved his old songs but his new one is boring IMO.

Any particular one? ;)

I don't think Alexandra Stan will ever get to number 1 unfortunately :( I think it will hang around a while though, like this year's Stereo Love with a higher peak
I wonder if ga ga would lose the no1 spot in albums chart by Sunday?

Answer is, NO. Keep on dreaming.

I wonder if ga ga would lose the no1 spot in albums chart by Sunday?

Highly unlikely as she was double Adele's sales on the first day, I don't think Adele will have been able to catch up, especially as GaGa has two versions in the Top 10.

Delighted to see Take That top 10 in the album chart i hope they stay there and i also hope love love can stay top 40 in the singles. Disapoinyed with andrea corr i just hope it can manage top 50 now.
Where is Inna's Sun Is Up? Looks like it's going to be hanging around the top 20 for a while despite it's relatively low peak! Kinda wish her and Alexandra Stan could swap (like both though)

It keeps going up and down the UK iTunes, yet it's still unable to crack the top 10 lol

looks like aloe blacc will peak in the chart this week at no2 - pretty cool how its risen in sales and position these past 7 weeks, probably sell loads by the end of the year - shows how oa/os should work.

It wasn't OA/OS, it had just been available from his album for months before it got popular. A better example of how OA/OS should work is Bad Romance.

There is no way on air, on sale "should" work really. Some on air, on sale songs are still frontloaded and debut at their peak. Other on air, on sale songs sell absolutely minimal amounts, sometimes for months, before they start getting promoted (this mainly happens with album tracks (current example is Don't Stop the Party) or with artists that don't have a fanbase at the time (current example, I Need a Dollar)).

The on air, on sale songs that debut at their peak aren't "on air, on sale gone wrong". Like Price Tag and Born This Way. Their chart runs aren't "mistakes". Sure, they're unusual, but they were both very successful.

Yes there is. The point of OA/OS is to make songs enter low and climb to their peaks, possibly causing lower peaks but increasing longevity and overall sales. This is the reason it was implemented.

The main reason they did OA/OS was to cut down on illegal downloads, which of course will get them more sales as people want to buy songs as soon as they hear them. :D

Of course chart runs being more 80s style in that songs climb to their peak is a good thing too

That too :kink:

No it's not. On air, on sale was started to make more money for these record labels. They think they're losing sales from holding songs back, so they release them at the same time as their radio premiere, to get a few more sales.

What you described is an expected result of OA/OS. That the songs would act like album tracks and slowly climb up the chart as promotion increases. That's not why on air, on sale was started. The record labels would prefer their on air, on sale songs to debut at #1 with massive sales than climb up the chart (like Price Tag), I'm sure.

It has nothing to do with the charts really. I doubt record companies were thinking "Oh, look how amazing the chart runs of Meet Me Halfway, Telephone, Ayo Technology and What's My Name? are, lets release our songs early so they do that too". They just want higher sales and hence more money. They'd be perfectly happy if the song debuted at its peak (especially if it was a high peak).

Another week at no.1 for Pitbull, it seems. Could he get 4 weeks, like LMFAO did?
