June 8, 201115 yr Author Alex Gaudino already out before removing some of those flops from the A-list makes a lot of sense...
June 8, 201115 yr Paramore :D Good to see they've switched the Beyonce tracks as well. Might check the Dionne Bromfield track out, really liked the last single after hearing it so much, shame it didn't seem to do as well as it could've.
June 8, 201115 yr That Wolfgang Gartner song is ANCIENT but I'm happy it's getting more commercial exposure!
June 8, 201115 yr :cheer: for Coldplay and Take That, :D for DJ Fresh and Vato Gonzalez as well (the latter is growing on me, I must say), should be huge on release, <_< for Jason Derulo and BEPs nice to see them supporting Templecloud as well, it could help it a bit
June 8, 201115 yr Nicole eventually A listed after like 4weeks on B List. I thought The Saturdays would have been alisted!
June 8, 201115 yr Alex Gaudino already out before removing some of those flops from the A-list makes a lot of sense... How can you have been commenting on this playlist for a half-decade (at least) and still not understand how it works?! They don't use chart success as the sole barometer for what moves up and down and off the playlist. Never have done.
June 8, 201115 yr Boring week for new additions. Uninteresting new Beyoncé song, crap new Cee Lo song, continued support for flopstars Dionne, Loick and Miles (and Inhaler is an ancient song anyway). Good to see the new The Horrors track on INMWT List though. Also good to see Paramore and Wolfgang Gartner on the C-List although I haven't heard either. Good for Coldplay, DJ Fresh and Vato moving up to A, I hope Vato can go top 10 with this even though the version they're releasing is a bit crap - the original version deserves it.
June 8, 201115 yr Author How can you have been commenting on this playlist for a half-decade (at least) and still not understand how it works?! They don't use chart success as the sole barometer for what moves up and down and off the playlist. Never have done. Yes they supposedly use "audience research" blah blah blah. Not getting into it now.
June 8, 201115 yr Nicole eventually A listed after like 4weeks on B List. I thought The Saturdays would have been alisted! I'm sure I've pointed this out before but the word you want here is 'finally'. 'Eventually' does not make sense in this context.
June 8, 201115 yr Author Nicole was A-listed because they saw it was becoming a big hit, just like they only A-listed Alexandra Stan last week...
June 8, 201115 yr Nicole was A-listed because they saw it was becoming a big hit, just like they only A-listed Alexandra Stan last week... Jark said it's not the sole barometer. He didn't say R1 ignore chart success.
June 8, 201115 yr Author What's that got to do with what you quoted? It definitely wasnt "audience research" that told them people liked Right There and Mr Saxobeat more this week. They were looking at chart positions and I-Tunes. Album success is taken into consideration, but only the ones they want. Same with singles success. Its all about the dj's preferences and what they perceive as cool and hip - anyone that thinks they do not favour certain bands, artists and genres is clearly deluded.
June 8, 201115 yr So glad they have swapped the Beyonce songs around, BTINH has the chance of actually being a hit. I see they are not doing On Air/On Sale then in the UK for it? Good move and shows that they know it didn't help Run The World, which could have even got a top 5 peak if it was held back, even though it probably wouldn't have sold amazingly, it would have done better than it did.
June 8, 201115 yr Alex Gaudino already out before removing some of those flops from the A-list makes a lot of sense... Radio 1's playlist =/= the official charts. We have other stations for that. And Paramore win the award for the most predictable addition, it was hardly like they were going to shun a likely top 10 single when they playlist every You Me At Six and All Time Low flop
June 8, 201115 yr Brilliant to see them adding "Best Thing I Never Had" to their playlist. They seem to like it more than they liked "Run the World (Girls)", so hopefully it'll move up to the A-List soon. I think it'll be a big smash for her.
June 8, 201115 yr Album success is taken into consideration, but only the ones they want. Same with singles success. Its all about the dj's preferences and what they perceive as cool and hip - anyone that thinks they do not favour certain bands, artists and genres is clearly deluded. Well for one thing only a couple of DJs are actually on the playlist committee. It's mostly made up of execs. Secondly nobody is saying that they don't favour certain genres of music/artists - but I am saying that it's within their rights to do that because they don't profess to be completely representative of popular/chart music and never have done. They can playlist whatever the hell they like actually so I find it odd that people still seem to be surprised when something successful comes off the playlist early or whatever as if chart success is all they go on.
June 8, 201115 yr Nice to see DJ Fresh, Vato and Nicole up to the A-list. A bit strange to see Wolfgang Gartner on the C-list, as someone said it's very old, and he has had much better songs (Fire Power, Wolfgang's 5th Symphony & Animal Rights (with Deadmau5 - which they did playlist) And onto the R1 playlist argument, it would be Boring if they copied commercial stations and only played music that is popular (yes, some of the indie that gets onto R1 is crap but many of their listeners love that type of music, just like many of their listeners love dance music [especially dubstep] and many of their listeners love chart music. So R1 support all three to keep their listeners. I listen to R1 because of their great DJs (Scott Mills, Chris Moyles etc.), the current music that they play and ofc because they have no adverts. But I love the support for new music otherwise acts would find it harder to breakthrough, R1 have the power to make a song or artist popular and get commercial radio to play them (examples being Jessie J, Ellie Goulding etc.) Would 'We No Speak Americano' ever have topped the chart if it wasn't for R1? Would Nero have gone top ten? Would Tinie Tempah have had a smash number one album with hits singles? No, is the answer, if R1 didn't exist. TEAM R1  Edited June 8, 201115 yr by danielMFAO
June 8, 201115 yr Rihanna only just moved up to b-list? Ooh so there's still time for this to get back inside the top 10? Why are they snubbing 'Super Bass'? Seriously. (Not that that song actually needs it, although it sort of does if it's to go top 10!) Would be nice to see it on the C-List for a week at least.
