This is a 21st century number twos rate using every song that hit number 2 in the 2000s and 2010s. What will happen is there will be 11 rounds, round 1 being 2000, then 2001 etc. up to round 10 which will be 2009. Round 11 will be 2010 and 2011 combined as there are not enough songs from 2011 to have its own round. The top 4 from each round will go straight to the final, and 5th to 7th placed will go in a "wildcard" round. But, to spice things up we will not go in order of the years. Now you know why this isn't round one (I haven't missed it out, but will go back to it later)

The top ten songs from the "wildcard" round will be put into the final round to make a top 54 of the decade. You will vote from 54, but four unlucky songs will miss out on making the top 50 in the results thread. This will be the last rate of the ultimate 'series'.

How you rate the songs; exactly the same as last time, you do not rate every song that hit number two, you just rate your ten favourites and your least favourite. You give +15 points to your favourite song, and the rest are as follows; This is to hopefully stop ties from happening inside the top 3.

+15 Favourite Song

+12 2nd Favourite Song

+10 3rd Favourite Song

+08 4th Favourite

+06 5th Favourite

+05 6th Favourite

+04 7th Favourite

+03 8th Favourite

+02 9th Favourite

+01 10th Favourite

-02 Least Favourite, or Most Hated depending on what way you look at it

These are the songs you need to rate from. You have 2 days for every round to rate. This means the deadline is Friday morning and hopefully the next round will be up by then.

+08 Michael Jackson "Man In The Mirror"

+06 Mr. Hudson feat. Kanye West "Supernova"

+05 Rihanna "Russian Roulette"

+04 Noisettes "Don't Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go)"

+03 Robbie Williams "Bodies"

+02 The Saturdays "Just Can't Get Enough"

+01 James Morrison & Nelly Furtado "Broken Strings"

-02 Taylor Swift "Love Story" :puke:

A decent top four salvaged from a horror of a year for #2's but wow, the Mariah/Rihanna/Charlotte trio that all just missed out would have been the top 3 had this rate been done at another time in BJ's history! Pleased that it's not just all female domination anymore but I do think that We Belong Together deserved a place in the wildcard round at least, it's much more classic than Tripping :lol:! Onto 2009;

+15 Taylor Swift – Love Story

+12 Rihanna – Russian Roulette

+10 The Saturdays – Just Can’t Get Enough

+8 La Roux – In For the Kill

+6 Michael Jackson – Man In The Mirror

+5 Robbie Williams – Bodies

+4 Jay-Z feat Alicia Keys – Empire State of Mind

+3 Leona Lewis – Happy

+2 James Morrison & Nelly Furtado – Broken Strings

+1 Kid Cudi vs Crookers – Day N Nite

-2 Mr Hudson feat Kanye West – Supernova I can't stand this, I hate his (what to me is an incredibly) strained voice. The Sats are lucky that this exists as Forever Is Over was very close to getting the -2 as well. Definitely their worst.

Very pleasing top 3 there, matching my top 3 (but reshuffled a bit).

And the best thing is Mariah didn't get through :w00t:

+15 Kid Cudi vs. Crookers - Day 'N' Nite May be an unpopular opinion but I was literally OBSESSED with this song. I was really annoyed it didn't get #1

+12 Noisettes - Don't Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go) I don't recall how this got *so* far ahead on iTunes (it was literally double GaGa at one point) but still never got the official #1

+10 Mr Hudson feat. Kanye West - Supernova Another totally unjustified #2 peak

+8 La Roux - In For The Kill Probably should have got at least one week at the top as well :P

+6 Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind Shame the far inferior Alicia solo version is now the only one that gets *any* airplay :(

+5 Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror The most unjustified #2 peak of the year. Seriously, fucking CASCADA?

+4 Robbie Williams - Bodies A very good comeback IMO

+3 Leona Lewis - Happy Starting to scrape the barrel here - decent but very boring

+2 The Saturdays - Just Can't Get Enough Again, decent but boring

+1 Westlife - What About Now Yes, this is genuinely better than the other 5 songs on the list

-2 Taylor Swift - Love Story So glad this bitch is a one hit wonder here although I'd've preferred 'no-hit wonder' :puke:

- 2 Leona

what a poor year!!

15 La Roux – In For the Kill

12 Robbie Williams – Bodies

10 Taylor Swift – Love Story

08 Noisettes – Don’t Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go)

06 Jay-Z feat Alicia Keys – Empire State of Mind

05 Mr Hudson feat Kanye West – Supernova

04 Michael Jackson – Man In The Mirror

03 Rihanna – Russian Roulette

02 James Morrison & Nelly Furtardo – Broken Strings

01 Kid Cudi vs Crookers – Day N Nite

-2 Leona Lewis - Happy lazy

NEVER did I think I'd EVER be allocating points to WESTLIFE, but I really do ABHOR the only other alternatives (La Roux, Taylor Swift and Get Sexy would all also make wonderfully deserving -2s)

+15 Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror

+12 James Morrison & Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings

+10 Jay-Z & Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind

+08 Rihanna - Russian Roulette

+06 Noisettes - Don't Upset The Rhythm

This also applies to my votes - Broken Strings, Get Sexy, Forever Is Over and Russian Roulette (and Love Story) are FAR, FAR worse than Wetflies' version of What About Now.

15|Kid Cudi vs Crookers – Day N Nite

12|Jay-Z feat Alicia Keys – Empire State of Mind

10|Robbie Williams – Bodies

08|La Roux – In For the Kill

06|Noisettes – Don’t Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go)

05|Rihanna – Russian Roulette

04|Michael Jackson – Man In The Mirror (better song that my points suggest but not really 2009)

03|James Morrison & Nelly Furtardo – Broken Strings

THE NEXT TWO ONLY GET POINTS BECAUSE I CAN'T REMEMBER HOW THEY GO AND THEY'RE NOT AS AWFUL AS THE OTHERS REMAINING

02|Taylor Swift – Love Story

01|The Saturdays – Forever Is Over

-02|Sugababes – Get Sexy (What on earth had they become by this point? TRAGIC)

+15 Noisettes – Don’t Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go)

+12 La Roux – In For the Kill

+10 Mr Hudson feat Kanye West – Supernova

+08 James Morrison & Nelly Furtardo – Broken Strings

+06 Jay-Z feat Alicia Keys – Empire State of Mind

+05 Michael Jackson – Man In The Mirror

+04 Rihanna – Russian Roulette

+03 Leona Lewis – Happy

+02 Robbie Williams – Bodies

+01 Taylor Swift – Love Story

-02 Sugababes - Get Sexy

[struggled between the other five for -02 but 'Get Sexy' was the beginning of the end for my support of the Sugababes tbh. Awful song.

2009 was actually a decent year for music imo. Just wasn't reflected in the bigger hits

Not much to choose from here!

15. Saturdays - "Forever Is Over"

12. La Roux - "In For The Kill"

10. Taylor Swift - "Love Story"

8. James Morrison & Nelly Furtado - "Broken Strings"

6. Robbie Williams - "Bodies"

Then in a decent year anything else would be a -2 contender!

5. Saturdays - "Just Can't Get Enough"

4. Westlife - "What About Now"

3 Jay-Z featuring ALicia Keys - "Empire State Of Mind"

2. Leona Lewis - "Happy"

1. Sugababes - "Get Sexy"

-2 Rihanna - "Russian Roulette" - An absolute dirge. Dreadful song, awful vocal performance, rambling production, what more do I have to say?

+6 James Morrison & Nelly Furtardo – Broken Strings

+5 Noisettes – Don’t Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go)

+3 Jay-Z feat Alicia Keys – Empire State of Mind (overrated, but still quite good)

+2 Leona Lewis – Happy (starting to scrape the barrel, this is merely decent)

+1 Kid Cudi vs Crookers – Day N Nite (I certainly wouldn't listen to this out of choice)

-2 Rihanna – Russian Roulette (whilst I accept the concept is good, her voice on this is horrifically strained and generally an uncomfortable listen :puke: Hurrah for Peter Kay for keeping it from number 1 :D )
